Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Mariners (70-55) and Chicago White Sox (49-76) meet Tuesday for the middle contest of a 3-game set in Chicago. First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mariners vs. White Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mariners lead 3-1

Seattle beat Chicago 14-2 Monday as a -190 road favorite in the series opener. The Mariners came out of the gates strong, jumping out to an early 5-0 lead in the 1st inning en route to a 7th consecutive victory. Despite giving sizzling CF Julio Rodriguez the night off to rest, Seattle stayed hot. C Cal Raleigh led the Mariners onslaught with 2 homers and 6 RBIs.

The underdog White Sox (+173) never stood much of a chance after SP Touki Toussaint gave up 5 runs in the blink of an eye — he yielded 7 total in 4 innings. White Sox starting pitching has let them down as of late with only 1 of the past 5 games having the starter make it into the 6th inning or later. So, it’s no surprise Chicago is 2-7 in its last 9 games.

Mariners at White Sox projected starters

RHP Bryan Woo vs. RHP Mike Clevinger

Woo (1-3, 4.75 ERA) makes his 12th start. The rookie has a 1.24 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 9.8 K/9 through 55 innings.

  • Last outing: No-decision, 6 IP, 2 ER, 4 H, 2 BB, 6 K in 5-3 road win at Los Angeles Angels Aug. 3
  • Career vs. White Sox: 1 start, no-decision, 5 2/3 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 9 K in 3-2 home win June 16

Clevinger (5-5, 3.26 ERA) makes his 17th start. He has a 1.25 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 7.5 K/9 across 85 2/3 innings.

  • Last outing: No-decision, 7 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 2 BB, 7 K in 4-3 loss to Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field — bullpen surrendered 4 runs in final 2 innings, including walk-off 3-run HR
  • Last 5 starts: 2-1, 1.30 ERA (27 2/3 IP, 4 ER), 0.98 WHIP, .198 opposing batting average as White Sox went 3-2
  • Career vs. Mariners: 0-2, 7.41 ERA (17 IP, 14 ER), 1.53 WHIP in 3 starts

Mariners at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Mariners 5, White Sox 3

Moneyline

BET SEATTLE (-155) TO WIN 1 UNIT.

Seattle is hot and the much better team. Chicago is cold and probably can’t wait for the season to end.

After giving Rodriguez the night off, the Mariners should be able to keep the momentum going. Look for Seattle to take care of business with J-Rod back in the lineup.

Run line/Against the spread

BET 0.5 UNITS ON SEATTLE -1.5 (+105).

Although Clevinger will be a tough matchup for the Mariners lineup, things are clicking on all cylinders for them. There’s good value in the run line here, as the true contenders begin to beat up on weaker competition — as the Mariners look to stretch their win streak to 8.

Over/Under

BET 0.5 UNITS on UNDER 8.5 (+100).

Clevinger looks to stifle the wagon of an offense that is Seattle. He’ll try to limit the damage done as much as possible. This could be a good parlay if also going with the Mariners run and/or money lines.

Analyzing Monday’s Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Seattle Mariners (69-55) and Chicago White Sox (49-75) meet Monday to kick off a 3-game series. First pitch from Guaranteed Rate Field is set for 8:10 p.m. ET (FS1). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Mariners vs. White Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Mariners lead 2-1

Seattle won 7-6 as a +172 road underdog in Sunday’s series finale vs. the Houston Astros, completing the 3-0 sweep. Seattle jumped out to a 6-0 lead by the 3rd inning and hung on for the win. The Mariners are on a 6-game win streak and have won 7 of their last 10. Seattle is 35-27 on the road.

The White Sox won 10-5 as -134 road favorites to avoid being swept by the Colorado Rockies Sunday. Chicago trailed 5-2 heading into the 7th, but blew the game open from there, scoring 8 runs in the next 2 innings. The win ended a 3-game losing streak for the White Sox, who are 3-7 in their last 10. The White Sox are 25-33 at home.

Mariners at White Sox projected starters

RHP Luis Castillo vs. RHP Touki Toussaint

Castillo (9-7, 2.23 ERA) makes his 26th start. He has a 1.05 WHIP, 2.2 BB/9 and 9.9 K/9 in 150 1/3 innings.

  • Last outing: Win, 7 IP, 4 ER, 9 H, 1 BB, 3 K in a 6-5 road win Wednesday vs. Kansas City Royals
  • Career vs. Chicago: 0-0, 2.92 ERA (12 1/3 IP, 4 ER), 11 H, 1 BB, 14 K in 2 starts

  • Last outing: No-decision, 4 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 5 BB, 4 K in a 5-3 road win Tuesday vs. Chicago Cubs

Mariners at White Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Mariners 6, White Sox 4

Moneyline

PASS.

I like the Mariners to win here but at (-190) the line is not worth the juice, bet on the run line and/or Over/Under instead.

Run line/Against the spread

LEAN MARINERS -1.5 (-120).

The Mariners are the much hotter team and have been the much better team this season. Seattle is 7-3 in their last 10 while the White Sox are 3-7 in their last 10, and the Mariners are 8 games above .500 on the road while Chicago is 8 games below .500 at home. The Mariners are also 4-1 in Castillo’s last 5 starts overall.

This is only a lean because the White Sox do hold the 6-4 lead in the last 10 Seattle-Chicago matchups.

Over/Under

BET OVER 9 (-105).

The Over is 6-1 in Seattle’s last 7 games overall and 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. For Castillo the Over is 3-0 in his last 3 starts, as well as in his last start vs. Chicago. The Over is also 3-0 in Chicago’s last 3 and 6-4 in its last 10.

Mariners at White Sox prediction and picks

Prediction

Mariners 5, White Sox 4

Money line

The Mariners have some untapped offensive potential on their half of the ledger. The White Sox pitching and defense have a bit over their heels early. With Ray on the bump, SEATTLE (+100) is a decent play.

Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Seattle Mariners (2-2) and Chicago White Sox (2-1) clash Tuesday at Guaranteed Rate Field. First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Mariners at White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: The Mariners and White Sox are meeting for the first time this season.

Seattle opened its season with a four-game split against the Minnesota Twins. The Mariners slashed a .177/.282/.292 in scoring just 10 runs against the Twins.

Chicago scored 19 runs in taking two of three road games from the Detroit Tigers in their season-opening series. Now the Pale Hose are at home where last year they played .654 ball (53-28).

Mariners at White Sox: Projected starters

Mariners RHP Matt Brash vs. White Sox RHP Vince Velasquez

Brash is a 24-year-old rookie making his Major League debut.

  • Pitched in 20 combined games at High-A and Double-A last season. Logged a 2.31 ERA with 142 K in 97 1/3 IP.
  • Repertoire includes a near-three-digit fastball and a plus slider.

Velasquez (3-9, 6.30 ERA in 2021) makes his season debut. He clocked a 1.48 WHIP, 4.7 BB/9 and 9.6 K/9 across 94 1/3 IP last season.

  • Pitched in 25 games last season, 21 for the Philadelphia Phillies and four for the San Diego Padres.
  • Allowed 3 HR in 8 2/3 IP while posting a Boeing 7.27 ERA in spring training.

Mariners at White Sox prediction and picks

Prediction

Mariners 5, White Sox 4

Money line

Seattle bats own a .208 batting average on balls in play through the early going. Brash makes for some interest and Seattle’s bullpen figures as league-average. The back end of that Mariners ‘pen is in good shape heading into this series.

With no past performances to guide us on the Brash side, we may be wise to dial down the play to a partial unit, but the MARINERS (+110) are the best side in this one.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Over/Under

Unders have performed quite well so far this season. Humidors being used in all 30 MLB ballparks — up from nine last season — is one possible reason. It’s a trend worth tracking.

With a pitcher’s breeze and perhaps some shadow issues in this contest, the UNDER 9.5 (-120) is a slight lean.

Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Seattle Mariners at Chicago White Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Chicago White Sox (44-30) host the Seattle Mariners (39-37) for a three-game set starting Friday at 8:10 p.m. ET on Guaranteed Rate Field. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook‘s lines around the Mariners vs. White Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Seattle had its five-game winning streak snapped with a 5-2 loss Wednesday vs. the Colorado Rockies, but the Mariners have won eight of their last 10 games.

Chicago broke its five-game road losing skid by beating the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-3 Wednesday and has won just four of the last 10 games.

Season series: White Sox lead 2-1.

LHP Yusei Kikuchi makes his 14th start for the Mariners. Kikuchi is 4-3 with a 3.46 ERA (80 2/3 IP, 31 ER), 1.04 WHIP, 2.9 BB/9 and 9.0 K/9 this year.

  • Last outing: Win, 5-1, with 7 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 3 BB and 6 K vs. the Tampa Bay Rays June 18.
  • vs. White Sox on the current roster: 39 at-bats with a .487/.500/.923 slash line, 4/1 K/BB, 3 HR and 12 RBIs.

LHP Carlos Rodon is on the hill for the White Sox. Rodon is 6-2 with a 1.83 ERA (73 2/3 IP, 15 ER), 0.84 WHIP, 2.4 BB/9 and 12.8 K/9 over 12 starts.

  • Last outing: No-decision with 7 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 3 BB and 8 K in Chicago’s 2-1 loss at the Houston Astros June 18.
  • vs. Mariners on the current roster: 23 at-bats with a .174/.321/.626 slash line, 11/4 K/BB, 0 HR and 0 RBI.

  • Money line: Mariners +165 (bet $100 to win $165) | White Sox -200 (bet $200 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Mariners +1.5 (-125) | White Sox -1.5 (+105)
  • Over/Under: 7.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Prediction

White Sox 6, Mariners 3

Money line (ML)

PASS despite my expectation that Chicago wins because the White Sox (-200) are a little more than I’m willing to pay against a Mariners team that has been on a roll lately whose starter has pitched a quality start in seven of his last eight outings.

Also, a vast majority of the market is backing the White Sox in this spot and I’m always leery about following a crowd of people in sports gambling.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

BET the WHITE SOX -0.5 (-125) FIRST 5 INNINGS for 1 unit since they are lethal at home (27-12) and against left-handed starters (18-6) and Chicago has a decisive edge in the starting pitching matchup.

For instance, Rodon has a 1.56 FIP, .288 expected opponent’s wOBA, .313 expected slugging percentage, an 85.9 mph exit velocity and a 39.3% strikeout rate vs. current Mariners hitters (28 plate appearances).

While Kikuchi has a 6.73 FIP, .555 expected opponent’s wOBA, .707 expected slugging percentage, an 89.9 exit velocity and 12.9% strikeout rate against active White Sox batters (31 plate appearances).

The reason behind betting Chicago’s First 5 Innings run line is Seattle has been feisty of late, was underrated entering the season and could make this a sweat for the White Sox in the late innings.

Over/Under (O/U)

“LEAN” to the UNDER 7.5 (-110) for a half unit because the White Sox have scored more than four runs once in their last 10 games and these teams have a combined 9-16 O/U record when these starters are on the mound.
