Analyzing Thursday’s Seattle Kraken at Nashville Predators odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Seattle Kraken (0-1) and Nashville Predators (0-1) play their 2nd games of the season Thursday at Bridgestone Arena. Puck drop is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Predators odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kraken were drowned 4-1 by the defending-champs Vegas Golden Knights in their season opener Tuesday. LW James McCann scored the only goal in the rematch of the Western Conference Finals. Seattle surprised everyone by outlasting the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars in the playoffs. We’ll see how they do with the spotlight now on them this season.

The Preds lost a tough game in their opener, 5-3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning. They had a 2-1 lead early in the 3rd period, despite only having 5 shots on goal through the 1st half of the game. Tampa netted 4 in the final frame to seal the deal. Newly acquired C Ryan O’Reilly had a goal and an assist in his team debut.

Kraken at Predators projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (0-1-0, 3.02 GAA, .889 SV%) vs. Juuse Saros (0-1-0, 4.19 GAA, .879 SV%)

Grubauer allowed 3 goals on 27 shots in the season opener. One of them was a bad turnover in his own end on a failed clearing attempt. So he was better than his numbers suggest. He beat the Preds in his only meeting against them last year, stopping 14 of 16 shots in a 7-2 laugher.

Saros was good early on in his season opener as the Lightning outshot the Predators 12-2 in the opening frame. Saros allowed 4 goals on 33 shots, but 2 came via the power play, and 1 was on a penalty shot. He was in 3 games against Seattle last year, going 1-1-0 with a 5.10 GAA and .836 SV%.

Kraken at Predators picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 5, Kraken 3

Moneyline

We have a pick ’em here, and while I like Seattle’s squad a little better, I like Nashville to rise up on home ice. They looked sunk in the 1st period in their opener and turned the tables in the 2nd, outshooting Tampa 13-5. The Kraken appeared to have a little playoff hangover, and they’ll fall to 0-2 before heading to St. Louis to face the Blues in their home opener Saturday.

Take the PREDATORS -110.

Puck line/Against the spread

I’m willing to take a chance on Nashville here because of the potential payout. Nashville was 22-14-4 at home last year and looked good at times in their opener. They’ll need a complete game, but I’ll LEAN PREDATORS -1.5 (+220).

Over/Under

I love the Over here. These teams have met 6 times over the last 3 years, and 5 of them had at least 6 goals. Both goalies will be tested by a net-front presence, and their stamina may not be in check yet having just played 2 days ago.

Take the OVER 6 (-120).

Seattle Kraken at Nashville Predators odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Seattle Kraken at Nashville Predators odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Seattle Kraken (39-24-7) play the front-end of a back-to-back set against the Nashville Predators (35-26-8) Thursday. Puck drop from Bridgestone Arena is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Kraken vs. Predators odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Kraken have made games interesting lately no matter if they win or lose. Seattle has gone to overtime in 3 of the past 5 games, winning 2 of those outings, including a 5-4 win at the Dallas Stars Tuesday. Seattle has gone to extra time in 5 of 10 games in March, winning 4 of those contests.

The Predators were drummed 7-0 on the road against the New York Rangers on Sunday but took out their frustrations next time out. Nashville spanked the Buffalo Sabres 7-3 on the road Tuesday, cashing the Over for the 2nd straight game.

Kraken at Predators projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (13-12-4, 3.02 GAA, .893 SV%) vs. Juuse Saros (27-19-7, 2.76 GAA, .917 SV%, 1 SO)

Grubauer coughed up 3 goals on just 10 shots Saturday at home against the Edmonton Oilers before he was pulled midway through the 2nd period. He is still 5-1-1 with a 2.78 GAA and .891 SV% in 7 starts in the month of March despite the ugly outing.

Saros was the beneficiary of the 7 goals of support in Buffalo, stopping 28 of the 31 shots he faced in the 7-3 win over the Sabres Tuesday. He is a solid 4-2-0 with a 2.60 GAA and .918 SV% in 9 appearances in March, allowing 3 or fewer goals in 8 of those outings.

Kraken at Predators picks and predictions

Prediction

Kraken 4, Predators 3

Moneyline

The KRAKEN (-125) are red-hot on the road, winning 6 in a row away from home.

The Predators have dropped 5 of the past 6 games against teams with a winning overall record. These teams have met just 4 times since Seattle came into the league, and the Kraken have won 3 of those meetings, including the only 1 this season at Climate Pledge Arena on Nov. 8 by a 5-1 score.

In the only previous meeting in the Music City, the Kraken earned a 4-3 win last season on Oct. 14, 2021 — the first win in franchise history.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Predators +1.5 (-240) will cost you nearly 2 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s too expensive even if you think they’re going to keep it close.

The Kraken -1.5 (+175) have played in six 1-goal games in 10 outings in March, so AVOID the visitors as well.

Over/Under

The OVER 6.5 (+100) might be the best play on the board, especially at even money.

The Over has connected in 6 of the past 7 games, and 9 of the last 13, for the Kraken. The Over has cashed in the past 2 games for the Predators too, with an average of 8.5 total goals per contest.

Seattle Kraken at Nashville Predators odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Seattle Kraken at Nashville Predators odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Seattle Kraken (0-1-0) face the Nashville Predators (0-0-0) Thursday at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Kraken vs. Predators odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.

The Kraken made their highly-anticipated debut, and they played the Vegas Golden Knights tough in their place, falling just 4-3. Seattle battled back from a two-goal deficit to tie the game 3-3 before falling by the wayside.

The Predators won its regular-season opener against the Columbus Blue Jackets 3-1 last season, and Nashville has won three straight openers.

Kraken at Predators projected goalies

Philipp Grubauer (0-1-0, 4.09 GAA, .867 SV%) vs. Juuse Saros (21-11-1, 2.28 GAA, .927 SV%, 3 SO in 2020-21)

Grubauer turned aside 26 of the 30 shots he faced in the team’s opener in Vegas. He hasn’t faced the Predators since Feb. 23, 2019, a 38-save shutout in a 5-0 win in the Music City.

Saros was money at Bridgestone Arena last season, going 15-3-0 with a 1.86 GAA and .941 SV% with all three of his shutouts coming at home.

Kraken at Predators odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Predators 4, Kraken 2

Money line

The PREDATORS (-130) are a tremendous value at home against the expansion Kraken (+105). Yes, the latter played Vegas very tough, but a cross-country trip to another hostile environment won’t result in a historic first win.

Against the spread

The PREDATORS -1.5 (+180) are a strong value at home. The Kraken looked like they could be a rather pesky team this season playing VGK tough. They are defense first but not a terribly large team. I expect the Predators, who have been starting well, to have another very successful home opener against the smallish visitors.

Over/Under

OVER 5.5 (-120) is the lean here. Hey, we have a trend with the new Seattle team. They’re 1-0 all-time in Over results on the road. Ha.

For the Preds, although it goes back a while, the Over is 6-1 in the past seven against Pacific Division teams. The Over is also 5-2-2 in the past nine as a favorite for Nashville.
