What are the Seahawks’ biggest needs going into the 2022 offseason?

According to Pro Football Focus, the edge rush and slot corner positions should be at the top of the list.

The Seattle Seahawks have some catching up to do in the NFC West, which just put three teams in the playoffs and one in the Super Bowl. Seattle is on the outside looking in this year after finishing 7-10, in no small part thanks to a talent deficit compared with the other contenders within the division.

Getting back on track will require addressing some of the team’s biggest needs this offseason. According to Pro Football Focus, the edge rush and slot corner positions should be at the top of the list for Pete Carroll and John Schneider to take care of over the next several months.

“Seattle is fresh off ranking fifth-to-last in edge pass-rushing grade for the 2021 season. While the Seahawks might not have their first-round pick, they do have plenty of cap space to help this issue. With six edge defenders inside the top 25 of PFF’s free-agent rankings, they could make a move to substantially improve on the edge for 2022. Improving their slot coverage should also be a focal point this offseason. Seattle allowed 1,341 yards to the slot in 2021, the second-most in the NFL.”

On the edge, the best free agents in 2022 include Chandler Jones and Von Miller. In the slot, Chris Harris Jr. and Bryce Callahan are at the top.

PFF also listed center and offensive tackle as positions of need for Seattle.

Seahawks: Which of these 5 major offseason scenarios should they pursue?

Let’s take a look at five major scenarios and vote on the best path.

The Seattle Seahawks are finished as far as the 2021 campaign is concerned. There are still three games remaining on the regular season schedule but with less than a 1% chance of making the playoffs and no first-round draft pick to tank for, there’s officially nothing left to play for but pride or “each other,” as Pete Carroll put it this morning.

What comes next will likely be a tumultuous offseason in the light of the franchise’s first losing season in 10 years and reports that team owner Jody Allen is not happy with the results. So, which direction should Allen and the Seahawks take as we pivot towards 2022? Let’s take a look at five major scenarios and vote on the best path.
