Seahawks LB Jordyn Brooks tore his ACL, done for season

The Seahawks will have to finish out their 2022 season without Jordyn Brooks.

The Seahawks will have to finish out their 2022 season without Jordyn Brooks.

According to head coach Pete Carroll, the knee injury that Brooks suffered in the first half of Sunday’s win over the Jets is a “legit” ACL tear, meaning Brooks is definitely done for the remainder of the year.

Brooks finishes the season with 161 combined tackles, the third-most in the NFL going into Week 18.

For their last regular season game and perhaps the playoffs Tanner Muse will be taking Brooks’ place in the lineup. Muse had a strong debut, posting the second-highest Pro Football Focus grade on the team.

Pete Carroll gives injury updates for Jordyn Brooks, Tyler Lockett

Seattle kept their playoff hopes alive, but it came at a cost.

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”BxJgvgIynT-2456891-7498″]

The Seattle Seahawks beat the New York Jets 23-6 to keep their playoff hopes alive, but it came at a cost.

Seattle’s young linebacker, Jordyn Brooks, was carted off after a tackle where his knee was injured during a tackle. It didn’t take long after being carted to the locker room before the Seahawks officially ruled out their former first-round draft pick.

After the game, head coach Pete Carroll gave an injury update for Brooks. Carroll admitted he didn’t know the extent of the injury, or the specifics, but mentioned he was undergoing imaging during the press conference.

Brooks wasn’t the only injury of note, as Tyler Lockett also missed time.

“Tyler got banged up on his right lower leg, it just bothered him,” Carroll elaborated. “He tried to get warm, he tried to get loose, and stay in, and got back on the field. At the very end, we held him out.”

As far as Week 18 goes, Carroll says we’ll “have to wait and see” when it comes to Lockett’s availability. Fortunately, Lockett made it through the game with no issue to his surgically repaired hand.

The other injury of note was guard Phil Haynes, who suffered a sprained ankle.

Jamal Adams shares more video updates of his ‘rebuild’

While Adams has missed a lot of time due to injuries, he’s still only 27 years old and may yet be a difference-maker for this defense.

Odds are the Seahawks pass rush would be better than it is if they had a healthy Jamal Adams on their side. Unfortunately, Adams suffered a serious quad injury in the first game of the season, ending his 2022 campaign just as it began. Yesterday marked 100 days since his surgery and Adams has been sharing updates of his progress on social media over the last few months.

Here’s two more videos he posted this past week.

Seahawks signing WR Laquon Treadwell to their active roster

The Seahawks are signing wide receiver Laquon Treadwell to their active roster, according to a report by Adam Schefter at ESPN.

The Seahawks are signing wide receiver Laquon Treadwell to their active roster for the rest of the season, according to a report by Adam Schefter at ESPN. Treadwell has been on Seattle’s practice squad for the last several weeks and has been elevated for a few games.

Treadwell is a former first-round pick by the Vikings who has five career touchdowns. He’s played three games for Seattle this year, posting one catch for one yard.

The Seahawks need Treadwell due to a hand injury for Tyler Lockett. First reported as a broken finger, we now know that Lockett is dealing with a broken hand that will require surgery. Coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Friday he’s hopeful that Lockett can return before the season ends.

Seahawks RB Rashaad Penny says there’s a chance he could return this season

This surprise injury update won’t solve their immediate problems but it does inspire some hope.

The Seahawks running backs took a ton of physical punishment in Sunday’s close call win over the Rams.

To recap, rookie Ken Walker left the game early with an ankle injury and didn’t return. At one point Deejay Dallas was doubtful to return with his own ankle issue but Tony Jones Jr. getting cracked in the helmet forced Dallas back into action. Jones and Dallas deserve credit for gritting it out the rest of the game but they’re probably not close to 100% right now. Meanwhile, Walker will undergo tests on his ankle today.

Add it all up and the Seahawks could use some more depth right now. This surprise injury update won’t solve their immediate problems but it does inspire some hope.

According to Ian Furness at Fox 13 Seattle, starting running back Rashaad Penny told him after the game that there’s a chance he could return by the end of the season or the playoffs.

Penny’s numbers weren’t quite on the same level as his otherwordly tear to end the 2021 season, but he was still among the league’s most productive backs before his significant leg injury in Week 5.

Soon after Penny underwent major surgery. The team website describes the procedure as such:

“Team Physicians Ed Khalfayan and Nick Seibert repaired a fibula fracture, syndesmotic ligament tear and deltoid ligament tear in a surgery performed at the Seattle Surgery Center. Penny is expected to be on crutches and in a splint or walking boot for six weeks.”

Penny was subsequently placed on injured reserve on October 15.

It would be great to see Penny play again down the stretch. Either way, he’ll be a free agent in 2023.
