Seattle Seahawks at Kansas City Chiefs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Seattle Seahawks at Kansas City Chiefs odds and lines, with expert NFL picks, predictions and best bets.

The Seattle Seahawks (7-7) will face the Kansas City Chiefs (11-3) at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Eve in Week 16. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 1 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Seahawks vs. Chiefs odds, and make our expert NFL picks and predictions.

This will be Seahawks QB Geno Smith’s 1st career game against the Chiefs. Smith has led Seattle to a 7-7 record this season, but has lost 4 of his last 5 games. The Seahawks have also failed to cover the spread in their last 5 matchups. Despite the downturn, Smith is having the best season of his career, ranking 8th in passing yards (3,671) and 4th in passing TDs (26).

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, who ranks 1st in passing yards (4,496) and passing TDs (35), is 0-1 against Seattle in his career, but that loss came in 2018 when Russell Wilson was still at the helm for the Seahawks. The Chiefs are currently on a 2-game win streak, but have failed to cover the spread in all but 3 of their games this season. The Chiefs have not covered a spread larger than 6 points this season.

Seahawks at Chiefs picks and predictions

Prediction

Chiefs 31, Seahawks 24

Moneyline

The Seahawks (+425) are a solid team but have a bunch of crucial injuries that’ll ultimately hurt them in this matchup. Not having Lockett and possibly others on offense will make things difficult for them to keep up with the Chiefs’ offense, and losing Neal on defense is a huge blow.

The Chiefs (-550) should be able to continue utilizing their 1-2 punch of RBs Isiah Pacheco and Jerick McKinnon against a Seattle defense that allows 161.1 rushing yards per game, 2nd worst in the NFL. Also expect Chiefs DT Chris Jones to take advantage of the Seattle’s offensive line that has allowed Smith to be sacked 37 times this season.

The Chiefs should win this game, but AVOID their moneyline which has a very low payout.

Against the spread

The Chiefs have covered the spread just 3 times this season, and coincidentally all 3 of those covers came against NFC teams — the Arizona Cardinals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers — but those spreads were 6, 2 and 1 points, respectively. The Chiefs simply can’t be trusted to cover with the way they’ve allowed inferior teams to stay close this season.

LEAN SEAHAWKS +10 (-105).

Over/Under

The Chiefs and Seahawks have a combined 15-13 record on the Over this season, and Chiefs games have hit the Over in their last 2 games which were against 2 of the worst offenses in the NFL (Broncos and Texans). With both defenses recently allowing big chunks of points, this one should hit the Over pretty easily.

BET OVER 49.5 (-109).
