San Jose State vs. Ball State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

San Jose State 42, Ball State 20

Money line (ML)

San Jose State QB Nick Starkel had 1,906 passing yards and 16 touchdown passes in seven games, while Ball State allowed over 250 passing yards in six of its seven games. The Spartans will be able to move the ball. That, in addition to the stronger competition in the Mountain West, San Jose State shouldn’t have a problem in this one. Take SAN JOSE STATE -375.

Against the spread (ATS)

The numbers this year are pretty overwhelming. San Jose is 6-0-1 ATS. Ball State is 4-3 ATS. The Cardinals are 1-0 in neutral-site games this season. Take SAN JOSE STATE -10 (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

The O/U of 63.5 points is a lot, although the two teams combined to average 65.2 points per game this season. San Jose State, though, only allows 17.9 PPG. Only one of the Spartans’ games went Over, and Ball State was 3-4 O/U. Take UNDER 63.5 (-110).

Boise State vs. San Jose State odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Boise State Broncos at San Jose State Spartans sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Boise State Broncos (5-1, 5-0 MWC) and the San Jose State Spartans (6-0, 6-0) meet Saturday for a 4:30 p.m. ET kickoff at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas for the Mountain West Championship Game. Below, we analyze the Boise State-San Jose State college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Boise State vs. San Jose State: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 10:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Boise State -230 (bet $230 to win $100) | San Jose State +185 (bet $100 to win $185)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Boise State -6.5 (-110) | San Jose State +6.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 55.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Boise State vs. San Jose State: Three things to know

  1. The Spartans had a shot at hosting the Mountain West Conference title game at CEFCU Stadium in San Jose, but strict COVID-19 restrictions in Santa Clara, Calif., forced the Spartans into nomad status. They have relocated to Las Vegas for the remainder of the season for training and games.
  2. Boise State will feel right at home at Sam Boyd Stadium, as the Broncos have won seven of their past eight games on this field. The Broncos have never lost to the Spartans in 14 all-time meetings, and the Spartans haven’t started a season 7-0 since 1939, so there is a lot of history going against San Jose State.
  3. Spartans QB Nick Starkel has had a great season, completing 66.3% of his passes for 1,453 yards and 13 touchdowns with just 4 interceptions in six outings. Broncos QB Hank Bachmeier is also a stud, having thrown for 929 yards with 6 touchdowns and 2 picks across his four outings.

Boise State vs. San Jose State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Boise State 27, San Jose State 24

Money line (ML)

Boise State (-230) isn’t the unbeaten team entering this game, but the Broncos are still the kings, and it’s good to be king.

San Jose State (+185) is mighty tempting, as you can nearly double up, but the Spartans aren’t used to the championship limelight.

AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

SAN JOSE STATE +6.5 (-110) will come to play, and we’ll know early on if the Spartans are going to cover or not. Yes, Boise State has had success on this field before, but Starkel and the Spartans aren’t pushovers. This is a high-octane offense, and they can run the ball, too. RB Tyler Nevens has averaged 8.9 yards per carry, and he has gobbled up 336 yards in the past two outings.

San Jose State has all the tools to not only keep it close but win this one outright and erase decades of frustration against Boise State.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 55.5 (-105) seems like the safe and sound play. Both teams have a strong passing game, but San Jose State also has a good defense. The Spartans have allowed just 17.5 PPG to rank 13th in the nation. Boise State ranks sixth against the pass, so it could really keep Starkel’s numbers down. The Broncos have allowed just 169.0 yards per game through the air.

Nevada vs. San Jose State: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 11:25 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Nevada -105 (bet $105 to win $100) | San Jose State -115 (bet $115 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Nevada +1 (-110) | San Jose State -1 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 58.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Nevada vs. San Jose State: Three things to know

  1. This game was relocated from the Bay Area to Las Vegas due to COVID-19 restrictions in the Santa Clara County, Calif., with San Jose State the designated home team The Spartans were 3-0 SU/2-0-1 ATS in three home games in San Jose this season.
  2. San Jose State averages 270.0 passing yards per game to rank 33rd in the nation, and 30.4 points per game. QB Nick Starkel has thrown for 1,147 passing yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.
  3. Nevada rebounded with a 37-26 win over Fresno State last week after suffering its first loss, a 24-21 setback at Hawaii Nov. 28. The Wolf Pack are 5-2 ATS, including 1-0 SU/ATS as underdogs this season. Their Over against Fresno State was the Wolf Pack’s first since their opener – the Under was 4-0-1 in five games between Oct. 31 through Nov. 28.

Nevada vs. San Jose State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

San Jose State 34, Nevada 31

Money line (ML)

SAN JOSE STATE (-115) is the play here, although this will be a back-and-forth affair with plenty of offense. Still, picking a straight-up winner rather than playing the spread will cause a little less stress.

Against the spread (ATS)

SAN JOSE STATE -1 (-110) is not as attractive as the money line in what should be a high-scoring, close affair. Starkel and Nevada QB Carson Strong will put on an aerial show in Vegas. This game might come down to a late field goal to decide a winner. I’d actually rather just play the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 58.5 (-110) is the way to go, even if San Jose State is allowing just 17.0 PPG this season. The Spartans will be out of their element a little bit, adjusting to the digs in Vegas. Plus, facing Strong is no walk in the park, regardless of how good the defense has been. The Nevada play-caller is an NFL-caliber quarterback who will give San Jose State fits.

The San Jose State Spartans (4-0, 4-0 MWC) and Boise State Broncos (4-1, 4-0) meet at Albertsons Stadium Saturday for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we analyze the San Jose State-Boise State college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

San Jose State at Boise State: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 12:40 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: San Jose State +330 (bet $100 to win $330) | Boise State -435 (bet $435 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: San Jose State +12 (-110) | Boise State -12 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 58.5 (O: -106 | U: -115)

San Jose State at Boise State: Three things to know

  1. San Jose State has played four games and won four games, going 3-0-1 ATS with three Under results. The Spartans also won their only road game at San Diego State on Nov. 6, winning outright as 10-point underdogs, 28-17.
  2. Boise State is coming off a 40-32 road victory against Hawaii. The offense has been hitting on all cylinders, sans a blowout 51-17 loss at home to BYU on Nov. 6. The Broncos have scored 40 or more points in four of five outings, and the Over is a perfect 5-0 so far for Boise State.
  3. The Spartans are 9-1-1 ATS in their past 11 on the road as underdogs, while posting an impressive 15-5-2 ATS mark in the past 22 conference games. The Broncos are 4-1 ATS in the past five on the Smurf Turf, while going 4-0 ATS in their past four as home favorites.

San Jose State at Boise State: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Boise State 34, San Jose State 27

Money line (ML)

Boise State (-435) was outclassed by BYU earlier in the month, but it has racked up 92 total points on offense in the past two outings. The Broncos are healthier, and that’s been the difference.

You can’t risk four and a half times your potential return, however. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

SAN JOSE STATE +12 (-110) catching double digits from Boise State seems a bit much. Yes, the Spartans do not have the recent run of success like the Broncos, but San Jose State has been very powerful on offense, registering 258.2 passing yards per game with 40.0 points per game. If the Spartans can bring the effort on defense, they have the chance to even spring the outright upset.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 58.5 (-106) is the best play on the board in this Mountain West clash. The Over has hit in five of the past six on the road for San Joe State and is 4-1 in its past five as a road dog. The Over is 4-0 in Boise State’s past four conference tilts, while cashing in five straight overall on the season.

San Jose State at San Diego State odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s San Jose State Spartans at San Diego State Aztecs sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

This week’s Friday night action includes a Mountain West battle between the San Jose State Spartans (2-0 overall, 2-0 MWC) and San Diego State Aztecs (2-0, 2-0). The Spartans and Aztecs will put their unbeaten records on the line in a 9 p.m. ET contest in Carson, Calif. We analyze the SJSU-SDSU college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

San Jose State at San Diego State: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 12:15 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: San Jose State +290 (bet $100 to win $290) | San Diego State -358 (bet $358 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: San Jose State +9.5 (-110) | San Diego State -9.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 48.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

San Jose State at San Diego State: Three things to know

  1. San Jose State is very much a pass-first offense. Through two games, the Spartans rank fifth in the nation in passing yards per game (353.5) and 100th nationally in rushing yards per contest (89.2). Both figures are in line with last year’s full-season numbers. In 2020, Arkansas transfer QB Nick Starkel has stepped in as SJSU’s new signal-caller, and the results have been stellar: 73.7% completion percentage, 693 yards passing, 7 touchdowns and one interception.
  2. San Diego State makes its bones on defense. The Aztecs ranked fifth in the nation a year ago, yielding just 287.8 yards per game. Through two games this fall, SDSU has allowed just 200.5 YPG. The Aztecs have a new head coach (Brady Hoke) and a new defensive coordinator (Kurt Mattix) in 2020, but the defense returns 8 of 11 starters.
  3. The Aztecs are 7-0 straight up and 6-1 against the spread over the last seven games in this series. San Diego took last year’s meeting (Oct. 19) by a score of 27-17. San Jose State has scored just 45 points over the last five games combined.

San Jose State at San Diego State: Odds, prediction, betting lines and picks

Prediction

San Diego State 34, San Jose State 24

Money line (ML)

PASS on a well laid-out money line. The Aztecs to win by about 10 points with a 75-80% chance of victory leaves no room on the sides.

Against the spread (ATS)

San Diego State is the lean, but the line is well made. When the public has you boxed in, LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Over/Under (O/U)

San Diego State hasn’t exactly played stifling defenses in averaging 36 points per game over its first two contests, but the Aztecs offense has been encouraging. San Jose State has scored just 45 points over the last five games of this series. Peg the Spartans as having a decent shot and enough points Friday to drive the final total into the 50s. BACK THE OVER 48.5 (-110).

Consider an initial bet with some held in reserve in waiting out an even lower total.
