Want to win your NFL survivor pool? Who to take in Week 4

Breaking down the best strategies of how to win your NFL survivor pool as the season continues into Week 4.

Two upsets trimmed NFL survivor pool fields in Week 3. The Dallas Cowboys lost 28-16 as 11-point favorites at the Arizona Cardinals, and the Baltimore Ravens suffered a 22-19 overtime defeat as 7.5-point home favorites vs. the Indianapolis Colts.

Lucky for us, we went with the Miami Dolphins, who gave us a “rocking chair” win — a victory that was never in doubt. The Fins put on one heck of a show, cruising to a 70-20 rout as 6-point home favorites vs. the Denver Broncos.

Let’s move on to Week 4 as we look to continue our NFL survivor pool run.

There are a number of difficult games to choose from, starting with the Detroit Lions (2-1) at the Green Bay Packers (2-1) Thursday night. Two other key matchups involve he Dolphins (3-0) at the rival Buffalo Bills (2-1) and the Cleveland Browns hosting the Ravens in a battle of 2-1 AFC North foes.

The chalk: Cincinnati Bengals

Who they play: At Tennessee Titans — 1 p.m. (FOX)

Cincinnati finally claimed its 1st win of the young season, beating the Los Angeles Rams 19-16 Monday night. While QB Joe Burrow didn’t look great, he will this week facing a Titans team which ranks 28th against the pass, allowing 275.3 passing yards per game. However, the Titans are 4th in the NFL against the run, yielding just 69.3 rushing yards a game.

Burrow will be able to find WRs Ja’Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd early and often against a bad Titans pass D.

On the other side of the ball, Tennessee’s offense has been terrible. QB Ryan Tannehill has thrown for 182.7 yards a game with only 1 TD vs. 3 interceptions. RB Derrick Henry is also feeling the strain of the offensive woes as the O-line has been unable to protect its star running back. Henry had only 20 yards on 11 carries Sunday in a 27-3 loss at the Browns. The faltering of this team, which is 1-9 in its past 10 games dating back to last season, has trickled into the running production of Henry.

Tennessee doesn’t have the horses to stand up to Cincinnati, which after starting 0-2, will gain its 2nd victory in as many games.

No. 2 option: San Francisco 49ers

Who they play: Home vs. Arizona Cardinals 4:25p.m. (FOX)

Yes, the Cardinals just beat the Cowboys, but this is exactly why this is the spot to bet against them.

The 49ers have been rolling in the early season. Their latest win, a 30-12 win over the New York Giants on Thursday was just the latest in a line of blowouts for the 49ers.

A close 30-23 win over the Rams in Week 2 could have been expected — the NFC West rivals often play close games,. The 49ers have scored exactly 30 points in all 3 of their games. Expect the offense to continue to put up points, while the impressive defense will likely hold the Cardinals under 17 points — if that. San Francisco held the Pittsburgh Steelers to 7 points in Week 1.

QB Joshua Dobbs and the Cardinals playing hard is a nice story, but it fails to compare to what San Francisco has in store for Arizona Sunday.

The 49ERS are a solid 2ND OPTION IN SURVIVOR POOLS this week.
