49ers’ offseason recap
San Francisco’s biggest moves were trading up to the third-overall pick to draft talented but raw QB Trey Lance, signing C Alex Mack in free agency and re-signing Pro Bowl LT Trent Williams to a $138 million deal.
In short, the Niners are banking on most of their 2021 improvement to come from within — namely, key players avoiding a repeat outbreak of the rampant injury bug and getting back on the field.
It was a long and debilitating injury list in 2020, headlined by the likes of DE Nick Bosa (14 games missed in 2020), QB Jimmy Garoppolo (10), TE George Kittle (8), RB Raheem Mostert (8) and WR Deebo Samuel (9).

San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks
With Lance only having 17 starts under his belt at FCS North Dakota State, it’s clear why the 49ers’ brass wanted Garoppolo to stick around for at least 2020.
The veteran QB is going to be needed this fall, and if he can stay healthy — a big question mark after Garoppolo missed 23 of a possible 48 regular-season games over the last three seasons — the best bet on the team’s futures board looks to be “YES” on a return to the playoffs at -175.
With New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees retiring and Aaron Rodgers at serious odds with the Green Bay Packers, the NFC is suddenly wide open outside of the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The NFC West again could be the league’s best division, but if the Niners can survive that gauntlet a return to the Big Game is certainly within reach, giving value to the team’s NFC and Super Bowl future wagers with the attractive 6-1 or better payoffs.
