Houston Texans 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds

Analyzing the Houston Texans 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Houston Texans limped to a 4-12 record in 2020, a lost season which saw head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien fired, and a number of stars become disgruntled. Below, we look at the Houston Texans 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Texans posted identical dismal 2-6 records home and away, and they were 2-4 inside the AFC South while going 6-10 against the spread (ATS) with an 8-8 Over/Under mark.

Texans’ offseason recap

You’ve seen the “This Is Fine” meme. That little dog sitting in the flames trying to be positive is either new GM Nick Caserio and/or head coach David Culley … because it’s a dumpster fire in H-Town right now.

QB DeShaun Watson expressed his dissatisfaction with the team and demanded a trade. Then some off-field issues surfaced, making him untradeable. It’s uncertain if he will have a change or heart, or even be eligible to play.

The team also jettisoned long-time sack artist and the face of the franchise in DE J.J. Watt. So, this is a team looking for a new identity, but one which appears to be a rudderless ship.

RB Mark Ingram takes over for RB Duke Johnson as the primary backup to RB David Johnson, who had his contract restructured. QB Davis Mills, the team’s third-round pick out of Stanford, might be the heir apparent under center depending on how the Watson situation shakes out. WR Nico Collins out of Michigan, and TE Brevin Jordan from Miami give the team a couple of promising skill position players for the future.

Houston Texans Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

No. Don’t even think about. You’d have a better chance of winning a prop for “Yes: Will the Texans to secure the No. 1 overall pick in 2022?”

A bet on the Texans +2000 to win the AFC South would also be a poor choice. The Jacksonville Jaguars will be better with QB Trevor Lawrence under center, the Indianapolis Colts are trending up again, and the Tennessee Titans are the premier team in the division.

NO (-650): WILL THE TEXANS MAKE THE PLAYOFFS? is a certainty, although I hate to tie up money like this long term, especially for such a small return. But if there is one futures bet that is a lock, it’s Houston missing the playoffs. The Texans are terrible on both sides of the ball, and they’re hitting the reset button.

UNDER 4 WINS (-110) is worth a look. This team is a train wreck, and 3-14 or worse looks pretty good after reviewing the recently released schedule. Keep an eye on Week 7 when the Texans visit the Arizona Cardinals, who have former Houston stars Watt and WR DeAndre Hopkins.

Jacksonville Jaguars 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds

Analyzing the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were the worst team in the NFL last season but are looking to rebuild in 2021 with a new head coach and a new quarterback. Below, we look at the Jacksonville Jaguars 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

Jacksonville won just one game in 2020 and it was in Week 1 over the Indianapolis Colts. Their head coach got fired and longtime college coach Urban Meyer was named the new head coach.

With a ton of cap space and the first selection in the entire draft, they begin the rebuilding process in 2021.

Jaguars’ offseason recap

After their one-win season last year, the Jaguars made big changes. They hired Urban Meyer as head coach and they spent big in free agency.

They added WR Marvin Jones Jr., WR Phillip Dorsett and RB Carlos Hyde on offense. They signed CB Shaquill Griffin, DT Roy Robertson-Harris and DE Jihad Ward.

They selected quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travis Etienne in the first round of the draft.

Jacksonville Jaguars Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

The Jaguars are expected to be better in 2021 than last season, but that doesn’t take much. However, they are not contenders. It would be a huge surprise if they made the postseason.

They aren’t going to win the Super Bowl. They aren’t going to the playoffs. They won’t win their division. Don’t waste your money on those bets, even if they have potentially huge payouts. They won’t cash.

There are only two wagers I would make on the Jaguars. One is not a lot of value but bet that the Jaguars WILL NOT make the playoffs (-350: bet $100, win $28.57).

The other is also chalky at -120 (bet $100, win $83.33). Bet them to win UNDER 6.5 GAMES (-120). To go from one win to even six would be an extraordinary improvement.

They will likely win four or five games with Lawrence at the helm, experiencing his growing pains at the pro level.

Seattle Seahawks 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds

Analyzing the Seattle Seahawks’ 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Seattle Seahawks made the playoffs each of the last three seasons and were NFC West champs last year. They hope to run their postseason streak to four and win their second Super Bowl in the last nine years. Below, we look at the Seattle Seahawks 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

Seattle won its first five games of 2020 and closed out the regular season on a four-game win streak to finish 12-4. They were eliminated from the playoffs in a 30-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Wild Card Round.

Despite a reportedly unhappy QB Russell Wilson in the offseason, they’ll remain contenders so long as he is at the helm.

Seahawks’ offseason recap

Much of the Seahawks’ offseason has been dominated by the issues between the organization and Wilson. He expressed his unhappiness for the number of hits and sacks he has taken in his career; the team was unhappy he aired his concerns publicly. While he did not formally request a trade, he did give the team a list of four teams to which he would be willing to be traded.

They replaced offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer with Shane Waldron, who was previously on the Rams coaching staff.

Several defensive starters departed in free agency — CB Shaquil Griffin, DT Jarran Reed and CB Quinton Dunbar. TE Greg Olsen retired, as did OL Mike Iupati. RB Carlos Hyde, TE Jacob Hollister and WR David Moore also signed with other teams.

Seattle signed CB Pierre Desir, traded for G Gabe Jackson and re-signed RB Chris Carson.

They had only one selection in the first three rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft and used it to take WR D’Wayne Eskridge in the second round.

Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

While the Seahawks have been a team with some transition the last two seasons, as long as Wilson is playing at a high level, they will be playoff contenders.

They have missed the playoffs only once since he began his career, so the smart money is to bet YES (-110) they will make the playoffs. And while the Rams are the favorites to win the division, it is never a bad bet to pick the Seahawks to WIN the NFC West (+280).

Likewise, since they have had fewer than 10 wins only once since 2012, bet OVER 9.5 WINS (-140).

Las Vegas Raiders 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds

Analyzing the Las Vegas Raiders 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Las Vegas Raiders finished 8-8 in 2020, a season which was supposed to be a banner year for the franchise after moving into its new digs at Allegiant Stadium on The Strip in Las Vegas. Below, we look at the Las Vegas Raiders 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Raiders were just 2-6 at home last season with no fans in attendance while going 6-2 on the road. That included an upset win over the AFC West champion Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5.

Las Vegas also went 8-8 against the spread (ATS), while seeing the Over go a league-high 12-3-1.

Raiders’ offseason recap

The Raiders didn’t make a lot of eye-popping moves during the offseason. Perhaps the best move was adding veteran WR Willie Snead to bolster the pass game, although he is more of a depth piece than someone who will move the needle on offense.

Veteran DBs Rasul Douglas and Casey Hayward were added to the secondary and provide some much-needed help on the back end.

The offensive line will be improved with OL Alex Leatherwood, plucked in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Adding to the secondary improvement theme, they also added S Trevon Moehrig in the second round.

Las Vegas Raiders Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

The Raiders seemingly decided to stand pat with a roster that was .500, while everyone in the AFC West made big, bold moves in the offseason. The Kansas City Chiefs are still a Super Bowl contender, and the Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers got better, at least on paper.

A bet on the Raiders +1600 to win the AFC West would be throwing money down the drain. There is no way. NO (-400): Will the Raiders make the playoffs? is more of a certainty, although risking four times your potential return is a lot of scratch to tie up and wait out for the entire season.

The UNDER 7 wins (-110)might be your best bet. The Broncos and Chargers will be much better, and the Raiders might be lucky to go 2-6 within the AFC West in 2021.

Browns’ offseason recap

Browns general manager Andrew Berry addressed the teams’ biggest concern early in free agency. The addition of S John Johnson III from the Los Angeles Rams was a steal, and might be one of the most important moves of the offseason.

They also added CB Troy Hill, while upgrading with DE Jadeveon Clowney in the pass rush. DE Takkarist McKinley was added for depth, as he tries to resurrect his career.

In the draft, the team selected CB Greg Newsome with its first-round pick at No. 26, and they traded up for LB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah at No. 52.

They also grabbed speedster WR Anthony Schwartz in the third round to help in the return game.

Cleveland Browns Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

The Browns are finally heading into a season where the biggest news isn’t a new coaching regime, general manager or both. The focus is on the team on the field, and that team is going to be very good.

QB Baker Mayfield has a cadre of receivers with plenty of talent which might even make WR Odell Beckham Jr. expendable and could allow the team to add more depth at other positions of need. If Beckham can stay healthy, he gives this burgeoning offense yet another weapon.

A bet on the Browns (+150) to win the AFC North is not a bad pick. YES -200: Will the Browns make the playoffs? is also worth a play, although not as great a value as the division bet.

The OVER 10 (-125) wins is the best play on the board. They won 11 games on a 16-game schedule, and they’ll have 17 opportunities to get to the 10-win level in 2021.

Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds

Analyzing the Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

For years, the Philadelphia Eagles have been in the mix to win the NFC East but this Eagles team is a far cry from the one that won the Super Bowl four years ago. Below, we look at the Philadelphia Eagles 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Eagles had problems on both sides of the ball for all of 2020, scoring fewer than 20 points in eight games and allowing 20 or more points in 15 of 16 games. The end result was the firing of head coach Doug Pederson and parting ways with QB Carson Wentz, and WRs Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson and Marquise Goodwin.

Clearly, the Philly offense is in the hands of QB Jalen Hurts, who didn’t provide the anticipated spark to the offense in 2020, but brings upside with his dual-threat ability.

Eagles’ offseason recap

The Eagles weren’t overly active in free agency but made some key signings, including former Vikings defenders Anthony Harris and Eric Wilson, veteran QB Joe Flacco and RB Jordan Howard.

The biggest additions came in the draft with Alabama WR Devonta Smith and G Landon Dickerson. Philly dedicated almost the entirety of the final five rounds addressing defense in hopes of bouncing back in a division that still seems wide open.

Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

The only NFC team with worse Super Bowl odds (making it or winning it) is the Detroit Lions, which tells you the Eagles are getting little to no respect for their ability to bounce back and improve in 2021.

There is a reason for this belief, but the Over/Under of just 6.5 wins (in 17 games) is at least one game too low. In a division that still has four flawed teams, the OVER 6.5 wins (-150) is the best bet to make on the Eagles.

Given the lack of a dominant team in the division, a small wager on them to win the NFC East (+425) could be a flyer on getting a big payoff.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds

Analyzing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers‘ signing of QB Tom Brady a year ago brought immediate dividends in the form of the franchise’s second Lombardi Trophy. Below, we look at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

No NFL team has successfully defended its Super Bowl title since the 2004 New England Patriots, but Brady — a youthful 27-year-old Brady — was of course at the helm of that young dynasty. Can Tampa Bay buck that trend in 2021 after retaining nearly the entire roster this offseason?

Buccaneers’ offseason recap

Outside of first-round draft pick LB Joe Tryon and free-agent RB Giovani Bernard, the notable offseason additions were few for the Bucs.

Of course, they didn’t require many after re-signing key in-house free agents TE Rob Gronkowski, RB Leonard Fournette, WR Antonio Brown, and LBs Shaq Barrett and Lavonte David while placing the franchise tag on WR Chris Godwin.

When all was said and done, Tampa Bay is set to return all 24 Super Bowl LV starters — including their two kicking specialists — putting them on pace to become the first defending NFL champs to do so since the 1976-77 Oakland Raiders.

The key question, once again, surrounds Brady’s age. Will he finally experience some noticeable decline in his play as he turns 44 years old in early August?

Tampa Bay Buccaneeers Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

The 2020 Bucs went 11-5 with Brady and the new faces adjusting on the fly in a season hampered by COVID-19 restrictions, so the OVER 11.5 wins (-120) looks to be the clear choice on Tampa Bay’s season win total, particularly with the extra game added in 2021.

With New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees retiring, Aaron Rodgers’ future in Green Bay very much in flux and the Los Angeles Rams — and possibly the San Francisco 49ers — switching quarterbacks, the NFC looks ripe and ready for a Bucs repeat. It’d be wise to definitely get some dollars down on the more-than-fair-priced NFC South (-155) and NFC title (+280) futures.

The 2021 AFC champion surely will put up a better fight than last season’s injury-ravaged Kansas City Chiefs — and the Big Game won’t be another home game for Tampa — but at a tasty +700 with all the key pieces back, don’t hesitate to wager on the NFL fielding its first repeat champion in 17 years.

49ers’ offseason recap

San Francisco’s biggest moves were trading up to the third-overall pick to draft talented but raw QB Trey Lance, signing C Alex Mack in free agency and re-signing Pro Bowl LT Trent Williams to a $138 million deal.

In short, the Niners are banking on most of their 2021 improvement to come from within — namely, key players avoiding a repeat outbreak of the rampant injury bug and getting back on the field.

It was a long and debilitating injury list in 2020, headlined by the likes of DE Nick Bosa (14 games missed in 2020), QB Jimmy Garoppolo (10), TE George Kittle (8), RB Raheem Mostert (8) and WR Deebo Samuel (9).

San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

With Lance only having 17 starts under his belt at FCS North Dakota State, it’s clear why the 49ers’ brass wanted Garoppolo to stick around for at least 2020.

The veteran QB is going to be needed this fall, and if he can stay healthy — a big question mark after Garoppolo missed 23 of a possible 48 regular-season games over the last three seasons — the best bet on the team’s futures board looks to be “YES” on a return to the playoffs at -175.

With New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees retiring and Aaron Rodgers at serious odds with the Green Bay Packers, the NFC is suddenly wide open outside of the defending champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The NFC West again could be the league’s best division, but if the Niners can survive that gauntlet a return to the Big Game is certainly within reach, giving value to the team’s NFC and Super Bowl future wagers with the attractive 6-1 or better payoffs.

Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds

Analyzing the Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were the NFL’s last undefeated team in 2020 at 11-0 but lost four of their final five regular-season games and a home playoff game to rival Cleveland Browns. It would appear the world has jumped off the Pittsburgh bandwagon heading into 2021. Below, we look at the Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Steelers have been an organization that has prided itself on building from within and, along with the Baltimore Ravens and Green Bay Packers, have set the standard for sustained success largely through the draft and not breaking the bank on outside free agents. With a defense that was torn apart by injury and an offense that sputtered down the stretch, change was needed and it had to come from the draft.

Pittsburgh suffered some significant losses on both sides of the ball this offseason, but that is nothing new. They reloaded and will come out swinging.

Steelers’ offseason recap

The Steelers did a good job of re-signing many of their own free agents, but the losses of OLs Maurkice Pouncey (retirement), Alejandro Villanueva and Matt Feiler took a toll. In response, Pittsburgh signed three free-agent linemen to replace them at a better market value.

As always, the draft was critical to the Steelers’ offseason. Offense was the biggest issue and the first four picks went that way, starting with running back Najee Harris in the first round. He is going to change the offense, take heat off of QB Ben Roethlisberger and allow playmakers like JuJu Smith-Schuster, Chase Claypool and Eric Ebron to get back to business as usual.

Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

Before you dismiss small bets on deep playoff runs, ask yourself, “If Baltimore lost Lamar Jackson or Cleveland lost Baker Mayfield early in the season, what would their record be?” It would be a low number. Roethlisberger went down in 2019 and Pittsburgh went 8-8. They were an epically bad 12-4 team last year, but they were 12-4.

The betting starts by taking the Super Bowl off the board and, quite likely, the division title. However, I’m willing to place a small wager on the AFC NORTH title at +400 for four times my return.

I also like the OVER 8.5 wins (-125) because that is for a 17-game season, not 16. As to whether they make the playoffs? I’m willing to avoid that, but +150 would be tempting.

Analyzing the Washington Football Team’s 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

The Washington Football Team found new life in 2020 under new head coach Ron Rivera, winning the NFC East and making the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Washington was only 7-9, though, and took advantage of a dreadful division. Below, we look at the Washington Football Team’s 2022 Super Bowl 56 odds, with NFL futures picks and predictions.

Washington’s offseason recap

QB Alex Smith stole the show in 2020, going 5-1 in six starts after taking over for the ineffective Dwayne Haskins and winning NFL Comeback Player of the Year honors.

Still, it proved to be a swan song as Smith and the franchise parted ways following the season and Smith announced his retirement soon after.

Enter another respected and gritty veteran quarterback, though, in Ryan Fitzpatrick. He and free-agent WR Curtis Samuel will be charged with revving up an offense that finished 25th in the league in scoring last season at 20.9 points per game.

Defensively, Washington added free agent CB William Jackson III and first-round rookie LB Jamin Davis to a unit that allowed the league’s fourth-fewest points per game in 2020 (20.6) behind Defensive Rookie of the Year DE Chase Young and the rest of a young and talented defensive front.

Washington Football Team Super Bowl 56 and 2021 NFL futures picks

Aside from a healthy Dak Prescott returning to the Dallas Cowboys, the rest of the NFC Least doesn’t figure to be all that formidable again, making Washington’s plus-payoff division title and playoff odds worthwhile considerations.

Washington has won as many as nine games only once (9-7 in 2015) in the last eight seasons, but getting something down on the team’s 2021 OVER 8 wins (-140) also is advisable given the Football Team’s manageable “first-place” schedule.

Other than the above, though, there are still too many question marks to seriously consider meaningful long-shot wagers on Washington’s Super Bowl or NFC futures.
