San Antonio Spurs at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s San Antonio Spurs at Minnesota Timberwolves and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Antonio Spurs (34-45) stop by Target Center Thursday to play the Minnesota Timberwolves (45-35) at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Spurs vs. Timberwolves odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

San Antonio is locked into either the 9- or 10-seed for the Western Conference play-in tourney while Minnesota still has an outside chance of getting the 6-seed if the T-Wolves win out and the Denver Nuggets lose out.

The Spurs helped the Timberwolves by upsetting the Nuggets 116-96 in Denver Thursday as 9-point road underdogs. San Antonio is 7-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in its last eight games.

Minnesota had its two-game win streak snapped Tuesday in a 132-114 blowout loss at home to the Washington Wizards. The T-Wolves are 3-3 SU but just 2-4 ATS over the past two weeks.

The T-Wolves are 2-0 SU versus the Spurs this season and have covered seven consecutive meetings with San Antonio.

  • Money line (ML): Spurs +280 (bet $100 to win $280) | Timberwolves -370 (bet $370 to win $100)
  • Against the spread: Spurs +7.5 (-108) | Timberwolves -7.5 (-112)
  • Over/Under: 239.5 (O: -115 | U: -107)

Spurs at Timberwolves odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 124, Spurs 106

Money line

PASS because Minnesota should breeze past the Spurs Thursday but the Timberwolves (-370) are way too expensive. A depleted San Antonio blowing out Denver at max motivation Tuesday is the proof you need to stay away from massive ML favorites in NBA regular-season action.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

BET the TIMBERWOLVES -7.5 (-112) because they have a lot more motivation entering this game and this presumed sharp side of the market is backing Minnesota.

Nearly 90% of the bets placed are on the Spurs according to Tipico, but roughly two-thirds of the cash is on the T-Wolves. Typically, in sports betting, it’s profitable to follow the money when it’s counter to the public.

Furthermore, people backing the Spurs here are suffering from recency bias due to San Antonio and Minnesota’s recent ATS trends.

But, beyond that, there really isn’t an argument for the Spurs here. The T-Wolves still have a shot at avoiding the play-in and San Antonio will have G-League players on the floor Thursday.

The TIMBERWOLVES -7.5 (-112) is the play.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 239.5 (-107) only because I’m much comfier betting Minnesota’s spread than the total.

However, the T-Wolves are 12-15 O/U as home favorites and 18-21 O/U versus teams with a losing record. Whereas the Spurs are 10-19-1 O/U as road underdogs and 13-22 O/U against teams with a winning record.

San Antonio Spurs at Denver Nuggets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s San Antonio Spurs at Denver Nuggets and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Denver Nuggets (47-32) host the San Antonio Spurs (33-45) Tuesday at Ball Arena for a 9 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we look at the Spurs vs. Nuggets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

San Antonio is 6-1 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in its last seven games including back-to-back blowout victories at home over the Portland Trail Blazers Friday (130-111) and Sunday (113-92).

Denver is 5-2 SU but just 3-4 ATS in its last seven games. The Nuggets went into L.A. Sunday and clobbered the Lakers 129-118 in their last game.

The Nuggets are 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS versus the Spurs this season and the total is 2-1 Over/Under (O/U).

Spurs at Nuggets odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:42 p.m. ET.

  • Money line (ML): Spurs +300 (bet $100 to win $300) | Nuggets -400 (bet $400 to win $100)
  • Against the spread: Spurs +8.5 (-105) | Nuggets -8.5 (-120)

[tipico]

Spurs at Nuggets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 121, Spurs 108

Money line

PASS even though Denver should cruise past a Murray-less Spurs but the -400 tag is way too expensive.

Murray is San Antonio’s leading scorer and assist man and third in adjusted on/off net rating, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Denver is sixth in offensive rating and San Antonio struggles against strong offenses. The Spurs are 6-20 SU versus teams in the top-10 of offensive efficiency with a minus-6.3 adjusted net rating (ranked 21st), per CTG.

The only sensible way to try and profit off this game is to lay the points with Denver or bet the total.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

LEAN NUGGETS -8.5 (-120) because all of Denver’s perceived edges are well accounted for in this price and we are getting the worst of the number.

The Nuggets opened as 6-point favorites but that number increased once the Spurs announced they’d be without Murray. Also, several situational trends point to this being a bad spot for Denver so this feels like a sharp line.

However, the Nuggets need this game since they are only 2 games in front of the seventh-place T-Wolves for the first play-in seed in the Western Conference.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 233.5 (-108) because San Antonio’s offense should struggle without Murray in the lineup and the Spurs are 10-18-1 O/U as road underdogs with a minus-2.7 total margin.

Both offenses also rank 20th or worse in free-throw attempt rate and both defenses rank 11th or better in defensive FT/FGA rate.

That said, my hesitancy here is most of the market is on the UNDER 233.5 (-108) and we are also getting the worst of this number since the total opened at 237.

Portland Trail Blazers at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Portland Trail Blazers at San Antonio Spurs odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Portland Trail Blazers (27-50) face the San Antonio Spurs (32-45) for the second time in three days Sunday. Tip-off is 7 p.m. ET at AT&T Center. Below, we look at the Trail Blazers vs. Spurs odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Trail Blazers are mired in a six-game losing streak and have lost 16 of their last 18 games. They lost 130-11 at the Spurs Friday.

The Spurs are battling for a spot in the play-in games to determine the final two seeds of the Western Conference. They are currently in 10th place, which is the final play-in spot, with a 1-game lead over the Los Angeles Lakers. They have won five of their last six games.

Trail Blazers at Spurs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Spurs 121, Blazers 103

Money line

PASS on the money line.

Portland appears to be simply playing out the rest of the season, while the Spurs have something to play for. The Trail Blazers are only 10-27 on the road this season.

The Spurs have won all three previous games between the two teams and the odds are too much to risk a wager. You would only win $6.25 on a $100 bet.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

None of the games between the two teams have been close this season. The Spurs won 114-83 (Dec. 2), 133-96 (March 23) and 130-111 (Friday).

The Blazers are only 13-24 ATS on the road this season, while the Spurs are 18-21 ATS at home. Portland has failed to cover the spread in five of its last six games, while San Antonio has covered it in five of its last six.

Go with the continuing trend. Take the SPURS -14.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Their game against each other went for 241 points Friday, but the first two matchups had totals of 197 and 229.

The Blazers have been held to fewer than 100 points nine times in 18 games since the All-Star break.  The Spurs have averaged 119.0 points per game in their last six contests.

It will come down to how many points Portland can score and I don’t think they will keep up.

Take UNDER 230.5 (-110).

Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Memphis Grizzlies at San Antonio Spurs and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Antonio Spurs (31-44) are fighting for their playoff lives as they host the Memphis Grizzlies (53-23) Wednesday. Tip-off from AT&T Center is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Grizzlies vs. Spurs odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Over the past two weeks, San Antonio is 5-1 straight up (SU) and 3-3 against the spread (ATS). The Spurs have won 4 straight games with the latest being a 123-120 road win over the Houston Rockets Monday.

San Antonio is currently the 10th and the final play-in seed in the West. The Spurs own the tiebreaker against the Los Angeles Lakers, who have the same record.

Memphis is on a 5-game winning streak (5-0 ATS), all without All-Star PG Ja Morant. The Grizzlies are 18-2 SU in games Morant misses.

The Grizzlies are 3-0 SU and ATS versus the Spurs this season and have won 6 straight against San Antonio since January 2021 (5-1 ATS).

  • Against the spread: Grizzlies -5.5 (-108) | Spurs +5.5 (-112)
  • Over/Under: 233.5 (O: -115 | U: -107)

Grizzlies at Spurs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 119, Spurs 116

Money line

PASS even though I like San Antonio plus the points and generally “sprinkle” on an underdog’s ML when betting it to cover the spread.

But I cannot get there with the Spurs (+180) because the Grizzlies (-230) have owned San Antonio in recent seasons and both teams have a similar identity. Memphis is just far more efficient.

The Grizzlies have a glaring strength-on-weakness edge on the glass. Memphis has the highest offensive-rebounding rate in the NBA and scores the most second-chance points per game (PPG). San Antonio is 24th in defensive-rebounding rate and 29th in second-chance PPG allowed.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

LEAN SPURS +5.5 (-112).

They’re at home and playing with max motivation since they are in the thick of the playoff race. Plus, there’s reverse-line movement in San Antonio’s direction.

According to Pregame.com and VegasInsider.com, a vast majority of the market is betting on Memphis, but the Grizzlies have been lowered from 7-point opening favorites down to the current number. It’s a red flag whenever sportsbooks make the more popular side cheaper.

Lastly, despite what Memphis’ record is sans Morant, San Antonio has an edge in the backcourt. Spurs PG Dejounte Murray made his All-Star Game debut in February and he’ll ball out versus Grizzlies backup PG Tyus Jones.

It’s only a LEAN to the SPURS +5.5 (-112) since they are 6-13 ATS as home underdogs with a minus-4.0 ATS margin.

Over/Under

Slight LEAN to the OVER 233.5 (-115) because there isn’t a big margin between my prediction and the projected score and we’re getting the worst of the number. The look-ahead total for Grizzlies-Spurs was set at 230.5 and has been steamed up the current price by a flood of Over money.

But Memphis and San Antonio play at the fourth- and fifth-highest pace, respectively. Also, the Grizzlies are 20-16-2 O/U on the road and the Spurs are 21-15-1 O/U at home.

San Antonio Spurs at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s San Antonio Spurs at Portland Trail Blazers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Antonio Spurs (28-44) take on the Portland Trail Blazers (27-44), who open a five-game homestand, as both battle to get into the playoff picture. Tip-off is Wednesday night at 10 p.m. ET at Moda Center.  Below, we look at the Spurs vs. Trail Blazers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Spurs are coming off a 110-108 win over the Golden State Warriors Sunday. They are 4-4 in their last eight games and trail the New Orleans Pelicans by two games for 10th place in the Western Conference, and the final spot for the play-in games to determine the final two seeds of the playoffs.

The Trail Blazers are only a half-game behind the Spurs in the Western Conference. They have only two wins in their last 12 games but won their last game, a 119-115 road victory over the Detroit Pistons.

Spurs at Trail Blazers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Trail Blazers 120, Spurs 115

Money line

The Blazers have only two wins in their last 12 games but have been respectable at home this season at 17-18. Meanwhile, the Spurs are only 14-21 on the road this season.

The Spurs did beat the Blazers, 114-83, in Portland Dec. 2.

The Blazers have won three of their last five home games.

This is a huge opportunity to jump on a big underdog for a big payout. You have a heavy favorite that struggles on the road and a bad team that plays fairly well at home. This game is worth betting the underdog.

Take the TRAIL BLAZERS (+380).

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Spurs have not won a game by more than eight points since Feb. 12. They are 19-15-1 ATS on the road this season, and they are 3-3-1 ATS as road favorites.

The Blazers have either won or lost by a lot. Only two of their last 10 losses have been by fewer than 20 points. They are 16-18-1 ATS at home.

I like the money line bet better than the spread because of the payout, but if you aren’t as comfortable with an outright Blazers win, give yourself points to play with and take TRAIL BLAZERS +9.5 (-120).

Over/Under

The Blazers are either on with their offense or putrid. They have failed to score 100 in seven of their last 12 games but averaged 120.6 points in their other five.

Since the All-Star break, the Spurs have allowed opponents to score 122.5 points per game. Only twice in the last 13 games have they allowed fewer than 110.

Take OVER 231.5 (-110).

San Antonio Spurs at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s San Antonio Spurs at Golden State Warriors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Antonio Spurs (27-44) open a four-game road trip Sunday against the Golden State Warriors (47-23). Tip-off is 8:30 p.m. ET at Chase Center. Below, we look at the Spurs vs. Warriors odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Spurs just finished a seven-game homestand in which they went 3-4. They are in 11th place in the West and trail the 10th-place Pelicans by 2.5 games for the final spot for the play-in games with 11 games to go. They only have three wins in their last 11 games.

The Warriors recently suffered the loss of PG Stephen Curry indefinitely with a foot injury. After winning four games in a row, they were blown out 110-88 at home Wednesday by the Los Angeles Clippers. They are in third in the West, trailing the first-place Suns by 9.5 games and the Grizzlies by half a game. They lead the fourth-place Jazz by 3 games with 12 left to play in the regular season.

Spurs at Warriors odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Warriors 114, Spurs 110

Money line

PASS, although, with Curry out, it is tempting to take the Spurs (+210) here, especially since they have a favorable matchup at guard with PG Dejounte Murray. However, they have not beaten a team with a winning record on the road since beating the Boston Celtics 99-97 Jan. 5.

As for the Warriors (-270), the price makes it not worth an individual wager, but I could see adding Warriors’ ML to a parlay bet.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Spurs have failed to cover the spread in four straight games and are only 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games. However, they are 18-15-1 ATS on the road overall this season.

The Warriors are 5-5 ATS in their last 10 games. They covered the spread in five straight games before their loss to the Celtics when Curry exited with his foot injury.

With Curry out, look for the Spurs to keep it close.

Take the SPURS +6.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Spurs have allowed 128.0 points per game in their last four contests.

The Warriors were rolling offensively before Curry’s injury, averaging 117.5 points per game before scoring only 88 against Boston.

Half of the Spurs’ last six games finished with totals higher than Sunday night’s projection.

The Warriors have had time to adjust in practice without Curry, so they won’t be abysmal offensively like they were against the Celtics, but I LEAN UNDER 225.5 (-107).

Oklahoma City Thunder at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Oklahoma City at San Antonio odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Oklahoma City Thunder (20-48) visit AT&T Center Wednesday to take on the San Antonio Spurs (26-43). Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Thunder vs. Spurs odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Spurs are coming off a 149-139 home loss against the Timberwolves, failing to cover as 3.5-point underdogs. San Antonio has struggled to cover lately and is 2-6 against the spread (ATS) over its last 8.

San Antonio is 10-6 ATS as a home favorite, the fifth-best covering rate in the league. The Spurs are led by G Dejounte Murray who is averaging 20.8 points and 9.4 assists per game.

As for Oklahoma City, it is 22-11 ATS as a road underdog which is the second-best covering record. Only the Heat (11-5 ATS) cover at a higher rate in that situation. The Thunder are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games.

OKC’s G Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is questionable. Since his Feb. 24 return he’s averaged 30.4 points and 7.4 assists per game so wait to bet until his status is officially announced.

Thunder at Spurs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Spurs 120, Thunder 108

Money line

PASS.

The Thunder are just too short-handed to predict an upset, and at -1200 the Spurs have absolutely no value as they’re just 13-22 straight up at home this season.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

LEAN to the THUNDER +13.5 (-110).

This is uncharted territory for the Spurs. While they were 10-point favorites once against Detroit and covered, they’ve yet to be more than 10-point favorites this season.

They’re just 26-43 straight up and 34-34-1 ATS. As for the Thunder, they’re still among the best covering teams in the NBA at 39-25-4 ATS. That said, the line clearly has considered SGA potentially missing this game.

That will give more opportunity for players like F Darius Bazley and G Theo Maledon to show their ability to score.

Despite their injuries, the Thunder do rank 16th in defensive rating, so it’s possible they slow down a high-pace Spurs team. OKC also ranks 12th in turnover rate.

It’s certainly a lean, but I like the Thunder to at least test San Antonio at home.

Over/Under

BET on the UNDER 231.5 (-108).

This is more a knock on the Thunder than anything else.

Unless SGA is a surprise play (an ankle injury for a non-contending team in mid-March seems to be prime time to get your star rest), the Thunder will be down their 3 leading scorers.

While Bazley and Maledon may be able to score some, this team getting to 110 seems unlikely. They’ll have to control the game defensively and with their slower pace.

The Spurs rank No. 2 in turnover rate and No. 4 in pace.

Both teams have been hitting the Over recently, but the Thunder are 31-35-2 O/U this season and just won’t have the firepower to get into a high-scoring battle with the Spurs down SGA.

The Thunder already rank last in shooting efficiency, so it’s doubtful they find much success offensively.

Jazz at Spurs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Jazz 123, Spurs 117

Money line

PASS on the money line unless you are parlaying it with other bets. The price isn’t worth the payout alone.

The Jazz are rolling but have struggled more on the road (18-14) than at home (23-10). However, the Spurs have fewer wins at home (12-20) than on the road (13-21).

The two teams have split their two previous games this season, each winning at the other’s home arena.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Jazz are only 28-35-2 ATS this season and 14-17-1 ATS on the road. They have covered the spread only once in their last five games.

The Spurs have also only covered the spread once in their last five games and are 15-17 ATS at home this season.

The Spurs covered the spread in both games against the Jazz this season.

Take the SPURS +6.5 (-120).

Over/Under

The Jazz, when they win, score a lot. They have averaged 119 points per game in their 11 wins since the start of February.

Meanwhile, the Spurs have averaged 120.4 points per game in their last 11 contests. Their lowest output was 104.

Expect a lot of scoring tonight.

Take OVER 229.5 (-110).

Toronto Raptors at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Toronto Raptors at San Antonio Spurs odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The San Antonio Spurs (25-40) host the Toronto Raptors (34-30) Wednesday for an 8:30 p.m. ET tip-off at AT&T Center. Below, we look at the Raptors vs. Spurs odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Toronto is 2-5 straight up (SU) and 1-6 against the spread (ATS) since the All-Star break including three straight losses to the Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic and Cleveland Cavaliers.

San Antonio is 2-4 SU but 3-3 ATS following the All-Star Game and snapped a four-game losing skid its last time out against the Los Angeles Lakers with a 117-110 victory Monday.

The Raptors crushed the Spurs 129-104 in Toronto Jan. 4 as 7-point favorites in their first meeting. However, San Antonio was without All-Star PG Dejounte Murray.

Raptors at Spurs odds, spread and lines

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:25 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Raptors -135 (bet $135 to win $100) | Spurs +110 (bet $100 to win $110)
  • Against the spread (ATS): Raptors -2.5 (-107) | Spurs +2.5 (-115)
  • Over/Under (O/U): 227.5 (O: -115 | U: -107)

Raptors

  • SF OG Anunoby (hand) out
  • PG Fred VanVleet (knee) questionable

Spurs

[tipico]

Raptors at Spurs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 113, Spurs 106

Money line

BET the RAPTORS (-135) for 1 unit because Toronto All-Star PG Fred VanVleet should return to action Wednesday and the Raptors are a different team with him on the floor.

Furthermore, Toronto is 14th in net rating and San Antonio is 16th but the Raptors perform much better against middle-of-the-pack teams.

Toronto is 13-8 SU versus teams in the middle-10 of net efficiency with a plus-3.8 adjusted net rating (ranked seventh) and a plus-2.4 ATS margin (ranked eighth) according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

While San Antonio is 5-14 SU in those spots with a minus-6.7 adjusted net rating (ranked 26th) and a minus-2.6 ATS margin (ranked 24th), per CTG.

The Raptors are also 6-3 SU and ATS as road favorites whereas the Spurs are 2-14 SU and 5-11 ATS as home underdogs.

The play is to BET the RAPTORS (-135) until they reach -145 or higher at which point I’d take Toronto’s spread.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

PASS unless Toronto’s ML gets too expensive then I’d lay up to 4 points with the Raptors. Not only does Toronto win outright in these spots but it also covers here too.

Plus the Raptors are 12-4 ATS as 1-to-4.5-point favorites while the Spurs are 4-14 ATS when being spotted that many points.

Over/Under

LEAN to the UNDER 227.5 (-107) only because the Toronto side is by my favorite play in this game.

However, this total opened up at 224.5 and has been steamed all the way up due to a flood of money on the Over. I’d prefer to fade such heavy line movement rather than follow it.

Both of these teams rank 22nd or worse in free-throw attempt rate, 3-point attempt rate and true shooting percentage.

Los Angeles Lakers at San Antonio Spurs odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Los Angeles Lakers at San Antonio Spurs odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Lakers (28-35) are in the Alamo City Monday for an 8:30 p.m. ET tip-off against the San Antonio Spurs (24-40) at the AT&T Center. Below, we look at the Lakers vs. Spurs odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

L.A. snapped a 4-game losing skid — 1-2-1 against the spread (ATS) — Saturday by upsetting the Golden State Warriors 124-116 at home as 6-point underdogs. LeBron James erupted for 56 points on 19-of-31 shooting.

San Antonio enters on a 4-game losing steak (1-3 ATS) with the latest game being a 123-117 loss at home to the Charlotte Spurs as 4-point underdogs.

The Lakers are 2-1 straight up (SU) and ATS versus the Spurs this season and the total is 2-0-1 Over/Under (O/U).

Lakers at Spurs odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Spurs 122, Lakers 113

Money line

Both teams are bad but the SPURS (-130) were projected to be bad and are overperforming expectations. Whereas the Lakers (+110) were projected to be a title contender and are significantly underperforming expectations.

According to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG), San Antonio has a minus-6.1 win differential (ranked dead-last) but has a plus-1.9 ATS margin (ranked sixth).

On the other hand, L.A. has a plus-1.7, but a minus-3.2 ATS margin (ranked dead-last), per CTG. In fact, the Spurs have an 0.0 net rating (ranked 16th) and the Lakers have a minus-2.0 net rating (ranked 21st) despite San Antonio having four fewer wins.

Furthermore, the Spurs crush bad teams; San Antonio is 14-8 SU versus teams in the bottom-10 of net efficiency with a plus-10.4 adjusted net rating (ranked sixth) and a plus-8.0 ATS margin (ranked first), per CTG.

Plus the Spurs are 9-5 SU as home favorites with a plus-9.9 margin of victory and the Lakers are 3-14 SU as road underdogs with a minus-7.0 margin of victory.

Also, this is the perfect spot to fade the Lakers whose last game was an impressive nationally-televised, primetime victory against a title contender because LeBron going berzerk. If LeBron doesn’t go into God mode, L.A. loses to Golden State last weekend.

Finally, the Lakers had AD active and LeBron sitting in their two victories over the Spurs earlier this season. But LeBron played and AD sat out with an injury in L.A.’s 28-point blowout loss at home Dec. 23.

BET the SPURS (-130) for 1.25 units.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

PASS since San Antonio’s ML is only 10 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Spurs -1.5 (-120).

Over/Under

PASS since my prediction is aligned with the projected total so there’s no value in me betting this number.

I “lean” to the Over 234.5 (-105) since L.A. is 11-6 O/U as road underdogs, San Antonio is 10-4 O/U as home favorites and both teams play at a fast pace. But I don’t have a strong enough conviction on my Over “lean” to put any cash on it.
