It appears a Spartans cornerback target in the 2024 class is now off the board.

Samuel Madu of White Plains, N.Y. announced his commitment to Minnesota on Sunday afternoon. Madu took an official visit to Minnesota this past weekend.

Madu is unranked on 247Sports, but is a prospect the Spartans have been targeting. He holds offers from more than 10 schools, including Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Duke, Missouri, Penn State, West Virginia, Vanderbilt and Syracuse.

Madu was expected to take an official visit to Michigan State next weekend and Purdue the following weekend. It’s unclear at this time if he will be still taking those visits or if he’ll cancel those based on his commitment to Minnesota.

Michigan State football remains in a good position to land a rising cornerback prospect from New York.

Samuel Madu of White Plains, New York revealed his top five schools list on Friday, which included the Spartans. Michigan State was joined by Minnesota, Penn State, Purdue and West Virginia in Madu’s top schools’ list.

Madu currently is unranked on 247Sports, but has picked up interest from numerous power five schools in recent months. He holds offers from 14 schools, including Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Penn State, Missouri, West Virginia, Duke, Boston College, Syracuse and Vanderbilt.

Madu is scheduled to take an official visit to Michigan State on June 16. He will also be visiting Minnesota and Purdue in June.

Samuel Madu of White Plains, N.Y. will be taking an official visit to Michigan State on June 16, according to Corey Robinson of 247Sports. Madu is also scheduled to visit Minnesota and Purdue before making a decision in July or August.

Madu is yet to be ranked on 247Sports, but has picked up interest from numerous power five programs. He holds offers from Michigan State, Minnesota, Purdue, Boston College, Duke, Missouri, Penn State, Syracuse, Vanderbilt and West Virginia.

Michigan State football has extended a scholarship offer to an under-the-radar cornerback prospect from New York.

Samuel Madu of White Plains, N.Y. announced on Monday that he’s received a scholarship offer from the Spartans. He is a cornerback in the 2024 class and plays for Archbishop Stepinac.

Madu is currently unranked on 247Sports, but has garnered interest from numerous power five schools. He has more than 10 offers from the likes of Michigan State, Boston College, Duke, Minnesota, Missouri, Penn State, Syracuse, West Virginia and Vanderbilt.
