The Lady Vols opened its 2024 soccer season on Thursday.
Indiana (1-0-0) defeated Tennessee (0-1-0), 1-0, at Yeagley Field at Bill Armstrong Stadium in Bloomington, Indiana.
Tennessee and the Hoosiers were tied, 0-0, at halftime. Indiana led the contest, 1-0, after a goal by Kennedy Neighbors in the 50th minute.
The Hoosiers outshot Tennessee, 10-7, in the match and each team recorded four scoring chances on goal.
Kate Runyon totaled two shots on goal for Tennessee, while Sammi Woods and Reese Mattern recorded one shot on goal each for the Lady Vols.
Tennessee goalkeeper Ally Zazzara recorded three saves in the match.
Tennessee will next play Sunday against Chattanooga at Regal Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. EDT.
