Ex-Broncos OLB Von Miller is selling his Colorado home

The end of an era: Von Miller is selling his Colorado home.

It finally happened. For many Denver Broncos fans, it is the end of an era. It’s hard to believe. Von Miller is leaving Colorado. For a cool $4.125 million, you can own the former linebacker’s Colorado estate.

Before a trade to the Los Angeles Rams in the middle of the 2021 season, Miller was the face of the Broncos. Over 100 sacks, two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl MVP later, Miller was a mainstay in the Colorado community. As an example, Miller’s groundbreaking charity, Von’s Vision Foundation continues to help Colorado children get affordable glasses.

After winning the Super Bowl with the Rams, Miller went on to sign with the Buffalo Bills with a six-year, $120 million deal.

Miller’s 17,148 square foot, 4.28-acre fortress of a home in Foxfield, Colorado is a sight to behold. In the home, there are four full baths, 11 partial bathrooms and nine bedrooms.

Take a look at some of the gorgeous features, which includes a massive basement bar and a 1,500-square-foot closet.

We’ll miss you, Von. It has been a hell of a ride.

Potential auction-style sale would award Broncos to highest bidder

If the Broncos have an auction-style sale, the highest bidder would be awarded the team (so long as other NFL owners approve).

The Denver Broncos are expected to hit the market this offseason, and the people currently running the team might not have much say on who becomes the next owner.

The Pat Bowlen Trust — Joe Ellis, Rich Slivka and Mark Kelly — “have a fiduciary duty to the beneficiaries to get the highest possible price, pending NFL approval,” according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

The trust has been running the team since Bowlen stepped down to battle Alzheimer’s in 2014, five years before his death. The trust is now expected to have an auction-style sale to award the team to the highest bidder.

Such a sale would be good news for Bowlen’s beneficiaries — his seven children (who each own 11.14%) and his brother John (22%). It might not necessarily put the team in the best possible hands, though.

But as Klis noted, the league’s 31 ownership groups would have to approve of Denver’s new owner, so there is a possible scenario in which the highest bidder could fail to buy the team if NFL owners do not approve.

For now, the Broncos remain focused on hiring a new coach. After that, they will make an announcement regarding the ownership situation.

Report: Dan Snyder being pressured by minority owners to sell the team

It continues to be anything but smooth sailing in Washington, as minority owners continue to pressure Snyder into a sale of the team.

More news came out on Thursday that shows minority owners in Washington are pressuring team owner Dan Snyder to sell the football team, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.

Though several people are encouraging a sale, the report shows that Snyder has no intention of doing so.

“The stakes have attracted interest from a variety of potential buyers, but Mr. Snyder has been reluctant to give any of them the option to eventually buy control despite the attempt to oust him,” the Journal said. “That has prompted some would-be buyers to walk away.”

The development in the story may be new, but it is nothing we haven’t heard before when it comes to minority owners being fed up with Snyder, and that relationship fraying. Earlier this offseason, minority owners were said to be looking to sell their own shares before the team announced that they would be changing their long-controversial name and logo. And then, just weeks later, a Washington Post story alleged widespread sexual harassment and verbal abuse against women inside the organization.

Whether Snyder will eventually be forced into a sale or not is yet to be seen, but things are anything but smooth in Washington as the 2020 season fast approaches.

Kevin Garnett buying the Minnesota Timberwolves would be the sweetest ending to his Glen Taylor beef

The two have had beef for years.

It’s been a long time coming, but Kevin Garnett might finally get the chance to fulfill his dream of buying the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In an interview with The Athletic, current team owner Glen Taylor said he was exploring a potential sale of the team. Garnett is part of a group that has interest in buying it.

Garnett has had a shaky history with the team and Taylor. The two have had a beef brewing for decades, but things recently got worse in 2015 after then-head coach and team president Flip Saunders passed away.

Saunders brought Garnett back to the organization to retire as a Timberwolf.  He also promised Garnett that, after he retired, he’d have a role in the organization and they’d work toward a path for potential ownership, according to The Athletic.

After Saunders passed, Taylor hired Tom Thibodeau and that plan went out the window. And so did any good will Garnett had with Taylor and the organization.

That was until Tuesday, however. After news broke that Taylor wanted to sell the team, Garnett took to Twitter to express his interest and he even said a nice thing about Taylor…kind of.

It looks like the olive branch has officially been extended. This absolutely feels right.

Garnett is unquestionably the greatest Minnesota Timberwolves player of all-time. He leads the franchise in points (19,201), rebounds (10,718), assists (4,216), blocks (1,590) and steals (1,315).

Yet, to this day, he doesn’t have his jersey retired in the rafters. Garnett doesn’t want it to be while Taylor still runs the organization. That beef runs deep, clearly.

But if Garnett manages to actually buy the team? He won’t need Taylor to retire his jersey. He can just do it himself.

Matthew Stafford’s $6.5 million home up for sale

Matthew Stafford’s $6.5 million home is up for sale, but with a growing family, fans need to be careful not to overreact.

Just hours after meeting with the local media Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford’s $6.5 million home in Bloomfield Township went up for sale.

The Stafford’s home has been rumored to be on the market all offseason — well before any trade rumors surfaced — but all attempts to confirm these rumors surrounding the sale had been declined.

There is bound to be plenty of speculation surrounding what this means for the future of the Lions quarterback, it’s important to remember most of the time these decisions come from non-football related situations.

For example, the Stafford’s have three daughters, two of whom are approaching school age, with a fourth child on the way. This is the time in their life when families are considering school districts and more kid-friendly homes — the Stafford’s bought the home in 2013 before any of their children were born.

There is always the possibility this a football-related move, but that concept appears to be founded in speculation only.

All offseason, the Lions have vigorously denied every trade rumor, made no roster moves to suggest they have considered moving on from him, and just yesterday, Stafford himself shrugging off those trade rumors.

“I really don’t pay too much attention to (the trade rumors),” Stafford said. “I pay less attention to them than my wife (Kelly) does. But it’s something that doesn’t bother me. Listen, I’m here, I want to be here. I love being a Detroit Lion, I love leading this team. all that kind of stuff is just out there to be out there. It’s a slow news month at that point and I’m just happy to be where I am and ready to deal with this offseason the way that it is and try to make the best of the season that I hope happens.”

There is bound to be plenty of speculation as to why the Stafford’s have put their house up for sale, but all indications point to this just being a typical off-the-field situation for a growing family.
