Taylor Swift was so excited to sing ‘I’m working late’ in Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso at Eras Tour New Orleans

Swift really has been working late because she’s a singer.

Taylor Swift once again surprised everyone by bringing out an unexpected guest during her mega popular Eras Tour. During the acoustic portion of the set where the 14-time Grammy winner performs different songs each night, Swift welcomed pop star Sabrina Carpenter to the stage.

The bubbly singer opened for the Eras Tour in Melbourne, Sydney and Singapore to start 2024, and is currently on her own Short n’ Sweet Tour. On stage, the duo performed a mashup of Carpenter’s “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” with Swift’s “Now That We Don’t Talk.”

“Espresso” took the world by storm this summer, with the line “I’m working late, cause I’m a singer” seemingly being heard everywhere. Swift was clearly not immune to the pure joy those seven words can muster. When they got to that portion of the song, Swift excitedly asked her singing partner, “Can I do it?”

When permission was given, a giddy “oh my god, I’m about to do it” followed before flawlessly delivering the lyric.

Taylor Swift, she’s just like us with “Espresso.”

The Sabrina Carpenter Curse, explained: Why it won’t please please please sports fans

What is the Sabrina Carpenter Curse? We’ll explain.

The Drake Curse is so yesterday.

The Sabrina Carpenter Curse? It’s a thing.

We’ve seen the singer wear a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey recently and then a Philadelphia Phillies outfit during a stop on her concert tour. She donned a Dallas Cowboys sweatshirt soon after.

Well, the Maple Leafs lost their season opener. The Phillies got eliminated by the New York Mets in the playoffs. The Cowboys got blown out by the Detroit Lions 47-9 after her fashion choice.

So, be warned, sports fans: look out for what jersey or logo could be coming next. It could mean your favorite team is doomed.

Sabrina Carpenter wore a wonderfully sparkly Phillies jersey for her Philadelphia concert

That’s that Phillies espresso.

Sabrina Carpenter’s Short n’ Sweet tour continued on Tuesday night with the “Please Please Please” singer performing in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Arena. The short-statured and charismatic performer has had an incredible summer with multiple top hits, and now that popularity has filled venues around the country.

Although the Philadelphia Phillies were in New York City for Game 3 of the NLDS against the Mets, Carpenter was still dressed for the occasion. At one point in the concert, she donned a very sparkly Phillies jersey over her costume.

Carpenter performed her massive hit single “Espresso” while wearing the jersey, much to the delight of the crowd.

What songs does Sabrina Carpenter cover on her Short n’ Sweet tour when spinning the bottle? Here’s a running list.

The “Please Please Please” singer performs a cover song each night as part of her tour.

Sabrina Carpenter has gotten her Short n’ Sweet tour underway, embarking on a 47-show journey across the United States, Canada and Europe. The 25-year-old singer had a massive summer with her hits “Espresso” and “Please Please Please.”

As part of her show, Carpenter performs a cover song each night. To select the song, she plays a game of Spin the Bottle on stage, singing whichever the bottle lands on. It appears that there are only four options on the playing board, and we’ve heard three of the songs through four shows.

Here are the covers she has done so far:

  • “Mamma Mia” (ABBA) – Columbus, Ohio; New York, New York
  • “That Don’t Impress Me Much” (Shania Twain) – Toronto, Canada
  • “Kiss Me” (Sixpence None The Richer) – Detroit, Michigan

The Sabrina Carpenter and NYC mayor Eric Adams church scandal connection, explained

Did the Short n’ Sweet singer inadvertently lead to his investigation?

Sabrina Carpenter performed at Madison Square Garden on Sunday night as part of her highly anticipated Short n’ Sweet tour. Carpenter, who has had an absolutely massive year with smash hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” is four shows into her 47 show tour that will take her all over the United States, plus Canada and Europe.

During the performance Sunday night, the bubbly singer chatted with the crowd between songs. “What now? Should we talk about how I got the mayor indicted?” she said with a smile and a quizzical tone.

Carpenter was referring to recently-indicted New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who was brought up on charges of corruption and bribery. What’s the deal here? Let’s break it down:

How is Sabrina Carpenter involved with New York mayor Eric Adams?

In order to answer that, we have to go back to October of 2023 when Carpenter released the music video for her song “Feather.” The video has the 5-foot singer dealing with unwanted attention from men, having them fight each other and even get hit by a bus. But the part that got the most criticism involved Carpenter singing both inside and outside of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Brooklyn.

Was there an investigation?

There sure was! While Carpenter received permission from Monsignor Jamie J. Gigantiello to shoot the video at and in the church, not everyone was happy with the decision. About a month after the release of the “Feather” video, news broke that Gigantiello had been disciplined and relieved of his administrative duty at the church.

According to the Diocese of Brooklyn, Bishop Robert Brennan was “appalled” by the video and that Carpenter had been allowed to shoot inside the church. The joint statement with the Catholic News Agency also said “The parish did not follow diocesan policy regarding the filming on Church property, which includes a review of the scenes and script.”

So what does Eric Adams have to do with this?

Apparently the investigation of Monsignor Gigantiello with regards to the “Feather” video brought attention to his dealings and relationship with Frank Carone, Adams’ former chief of staff. The federal inquiry into the known associates of Mayor Adams was part of the piece-by-piece case put together that led to the indictment.

Who knew a music video could potentially have such an impact?

A truly sweet moment.

Singer Sabrina Carpenter has joined the Eras Tour in Australia, with the 24-year-old serving as the opening act for Taylor Swift. On Friday night’s show in Sydney — the first of four — Carpenter wasn’t able to take the stage before Swift due to weather delays brought on by lightning in the area.

Instead, Swift welcomed Carpenter out during the surprise song portion of the show. The duo performed a mashup of Swift’s “White Horse” from her Fearless album and “Coney Island” off of Evermore.
