Dolphins to hire former Titans OLB coach for the same role in Miami

Miami adds another defensive coach to their staff.

The Miami Dolphins, after hiring Anthony Weaver to be their new defensive coordinator, are continuing to build out their defensive coaching staff before the start of the new league year in March.

According to the MMQB’s Albert Breer, the Dolphins are hiring Ryan Crow as outside linebackers coach.

Crow had been with the Tennessee Titans since 2018, holding defensive assistant (2018-19), assistant special teams coach (2020) and outside linebackers coach (2021-23) roles during his time with the team. He was let go after Tennessee decided to fire head coach Mike Vrabel.

During his time with Titans, there was some crossover with Dolphins David Long, who played for Tennessee from 2019-22.

Crow will be taking over for Ryan Slowik, who was a candidate for Miami’s defensive coordinator job. According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel’s David Furones, Slowik will remain on the staff but in a different role.

Report: Dolphins expected to interview OLB coach Ryan Slowik for defensive coordinator

Miami is expected to interview one of their own for DC.

As the Miami Dolphins look over all of the viable options to be their next defensive coordinator after Vic Fangio and the team parted ways just one year into their relationship, an internal candidate has become apparent.

According to KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson, the Dolphins are expected to interview outside linebackers coach Ryan Slowik for the open position.

Slowik joined Miami in 2022 as a senior defensive assistant and was promoted to his current position prior to the start of the 2023 season.

Before moving to South Florida, Slowik worked with the Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos. Interestingly, he was an assistant in 2005 in Denver when Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel was just an intern with the Broncos.

Jumping from senior defensive assistant to defensive coordinator in three seasons might look like a quick jump, but he’s been around the league for nearly two decades, and he clearly has coaching in his blood, as his brother, Bobby, is the Houston Texans offensive coordinator.
