Kendre Miller is a surprise add to the Saints inactive list against the Rams

Kendre Miller is a surprise add to the Saints inactive list against the Rams. Fans will have to wait another week to see the rookie running back again:

This is tough. Kendre Miller is a surprise add to the New Orleans Saints inactive list going into Thursday night’s game with the Los Angeles Rams; he had missed the last five games recovering from an ankle injury, but practiced this week, and his coaches made it sound like he had a good chance to play in prime time. NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill first broke the bad news.

Instead, fans will have to wait another week to see the rookie running back again. It’s been a very disappointing season for Miller after he missed most of the offseason program recovering from a college knee injury while talking himself up as someone who could do everything Alvin Kamara can do. Hopefully he can make good on that promise after returning to full health.

Here is the full inactive list from both teams:

Saints inactive players

  • DE Isaiah Foskey (injury)
  • S Lonnie Johnson (injury)
  • RT Ryan Ramczyk (injury)
  • RB Kendre Miller (injury)
  • QB Jake Haener
  • DB Cameron Dantzler Sr.
  • LB Monty Rice

Rams inactive players

  • DB Tre Tomlinson (injury)
  • RB Zach Evans
  • OLB Ochaun Mathis
  • OL Warren McClendon Jr.
  • DE Desjuan Johnson.

This player will be making his Saints debut against the Rams on TNF

Cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles will be making his Saints debut against the Rams on TNF after being called up from the practice squad:

Here’s a cool story. Cornerback Shemar Jean-Charles will be making his New Orleans Saints debut against the Los Angeles Rams after being called up from the practice squad in time for Thursday night’s prime time game, as first reported by NewOrleans.Football’s Brooke Kirchhofer. Jean-Charles wears the No. 38 jersey for the Saints.

Jean-Charles signed with the New Orleans practice squad a few weeks ago and earned the opportunity to show what he can do, likely starting out on special teams before working his way onto the field with the defense. But we’ll have to wait and see what the team’s vision is for him. He’s an interesting player as an undersized cornerback who doesn’t fit their usual athletic thresholds; we’ll see if those limitations affect him or if he’s able to make plays in spite of it.

But he isn’t the only player coming up from the practice squad for this matchup. The Saints also elevated offensive lineman Cameron Erving (No. 77), who started at right tackle in Ryan Ramczyk’s absence earlier this year. They went with Landon Young in that role last week against the New York Giants so it’s likely Erving will be backing up Young again on Thursday night. Stay tuned for pregame warmups and confirmation of who’s lining up where as the first- and second-string units make their final walkthroughs.

Final Saints injury report: Chris Olave in, Ryan Ramczyk out vs Rams

Chris Olave is in and Ryan Ramczyk is out as the New Orleans Saints prepare to take on the Los Angeles Rams, find the full injury report here:

There is both some good and bad for the New Orleans Saints in Wednesday’s injury report as they prepare for their Thursday night matchup with the Los Angeles Rams.

Star wide receiver Chris Olave was upgraded to a full participant in practice on Wednesday after missing practice on Monday and being limited on Tuesday. He will make his return against the Rams after missing the game against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk, however, will miss the game after not being available to practice all week with a knee injury. This will be his third missed game this season,

Isaiah Foskey, Lonnie Johnson and Payton Turner are the other players being ruled out for the matchup. All other players are listed as questionable or are without a designation:

Chris Olave (ankle) among Saints inactive players for Week 15 vs. Giants

Saints WR Chris Olave was a game time decision. Was he one of the inactive players vs. the Giants in Week 15?

For the second week in a row, New Orleans Saints wide receiver Chris Olave was a game time decision. Last week, it was due to illness, but he’s nursing an ankle injury this week. It was also reported by New Orleans Football’s Nick Underhill on Saturday that Ryan Ramczyk wasn’t expected to play.

Ramczyk joins Isaiah Foskey, Kendre Miller and Payton Turner as players already ruled out prior to Sunday. The list of players designated questionable was slim this week.

Here are the inactive players for the Saints against the New York Giants:

Report: Saints don’t expect right tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee) to play vs. Giants

NOF’s Nick Underhill reports that the Saints don’t expect right tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee) to be in the lineup against the Giants and Kayvon Thibodeaux:

This is a big loss. The New Orleans Saints are not expected to have starting right tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee) in the lineup on Sunday against the New York Giants, per NewOrleans.Football’s Nick Underhill. Ramczyk was limited in practice this week with a knee injury and was officially listed as questionable for Week 15’s game but it doesn’t sound like he’ll be able to play.

That’s big news for Kayvon Thibodeaux. The Giants defensive end has primarily rushed off the left side of the defensive line in recent weeks (on 71% of his pass rush snaps, per Pro Football Focus charting), going up against right tackles, which puts him on a collision course with Ramczyk’s backup. The Saints brought up Cameron Erving from the practice squad for this game in anticipation of Ramczyk’s absence.

Erving has held up well before. The Saints asked him to fill in for Ramczyk earlier this season against the Jacksonville Jaguars and while Erving didn’t match up with Jaguars sacks leader Josh Allen he did hold his own against Travon Walker and Dawuane Smoot. Thibodeaux is a unique challenge, though. He’s bagged 11.5 sacks this year after earning AP Defensive Rookie of the Year votes last season. It’s a lot to ask Erving to block him one-on-one. Let’s see what the Saints’ plan is for slowing him down.

Saints bring up reinforcements on offense for Week 15 vs. Giants

The Saints brought up reinforcements on offense for Week 15’s Giants game, elevating RT Cameron Erving and WR Marquez Callaway from the practice squad:

Some help is on the way for the New Orleans Saints offense. The Saints brought up reinforcements for Week 15’s game with the New York Giants, elevating right tackle Cameron Erving and wide receiver Marquez Callaway from the practice squad.

And they could both be active on Sunday. The Saints listed starting right tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee) and their leading wide receiver Chris Olave (ankle) as questionable for this matchup due to injuries, and it’s possible both of them could be sidelined. Ramczyk was limited at practice throughout the week and Olave didn’t participate at all.

Erving started in relief of Ramczyk once already this season, during the Saints’ prime-time loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, so he’s ready to go again if needed. Callaway’s status is less certain. He’s been brought up from the practice squad twice already in the wake of a knee injury for Michael Thomas, so he may or may not have much to do with Olave’s situation. At any rate, we won’t get clarification on Olave or Ramczyk until the inactive report comes out 90 minutes before Sunday’s kickoff. Stay tuned.

Saints list Chris Olave (ankle) as questionable on Week 15 injury repot vs. Giants

The Saints listed wide receiver Chris Olave (ankle) as questionable to play on Week 15’s final injury repot. Two rookies were ruled out against the Giants:

We’ve had a look at the final New Orleans Saints injury repot going into Week 15’s game with the New York Giants, and it’s a mixed bag: three players are questionable for Sunday’s game including star wide receiver Chris Olave (ankle), starting right tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee), and veteran running back Jamaal Williams (groin). Olave is a game-time decision after not practicing all week.

A few other Saints players have been pre-emptively ruled out including rookie draft picks Isaiah Foskey (quadricep) and Kendre Miller (ankle), who have missed a lot of time as of late. So is defensive end Payton Turner (toe) who was designated to return from injured reserve after dislocating two toes in Week 1 and undergoing a lengthy recovery.

But three other Saints who received treatment this week are all getting the green light to play on Sunday: quarterback Taysom Hill (foot/left hand) and wider receiver Rashid Shaheed (thigh), both of whom were inactive a week ago, as well as defensive end Cameron Jordan (ankle).

Saints upgrade several players on updated injury report for Week 14 vs. Panthers

The Saints upgraded several players on their injury report update for Week 14 vs. Panthers, but Chris Olave missed practice with an illness:

Let’s start with the good news. The New Orleans Saints upgraded several players on their injury report update for Week 14’s game with the Carolina Panthers, with defensive end Cameron Jordan (ankle) participating on a limited basis after he had to sit out earlier this week. Starting offensive linemen Erik McCoy (shoulder) and Ryan Ramczyk (knee) both practiced fully after previously being limited.

Now the bad news. Five players were absent on Thursday including star wideout Chris Olave, who missed practice with an illness. The Saints were also down quarterback Taysom Hill (foot/left hand) and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (thigh), plus rookie defensive end Isaiah Foskey (quadricep) and first-year running back Kendre Miller (ankle). And quarterback Derek Carr (concussion/rib/right shoulder) was limited again while remaining in the league’s concussion protocol.

Conversely, there were few changes from the Panthers, with two players who received rest days to start the week (cornerback Troy Hill and right tackle Taylor Moton) practicing on limited snaps. Outside linebacker D.J. Johnson was excused from practice for personal reasons.

Here’s the full injury repot for Thursday. Check back on Friday for game statuses:

4 Saints keys to victory on offense vs. Lions

It all starts with scoring more touchdowns. Breaking down four keys to a New Orleans Saints victory on offense against the Detroit Lions:

What can the New Orleans Saints offense do to secure a win over the Detroit Lions in Week 13? What schematic decisions and points of emphasis will make a difference? Which vulnerabilities in the Detroit defense can they exploit?

Scoring more touchdowns would help.

Really, though: Derek Carr’s deficiencies in the red zone and inside the 10-yard line have been pronounced in recent weeks, and figuring out why he’s struggling so badly can make a difference on Sunday. But there are 80 yards to cover before the Saints can get in scoring position. With that in mind, here are four keys to victory we’re looking for from the New Orleans offense:

Saints share a long list of players on first Week 13 injury report vs. Lions

The Saints shared a long list of players on their first injury report for Week 13’s game with the Lions:

The New Orleans Saints shared a long list of players on their first injury report for Week 13’s game with the Detroit Lions, including four starters who weren’t able to practice: defensive end Cameron Jordan (ankle), safety Marcus Maye (shoulder), linebacker Pete Werner (shoulder/oblique), and wide receiver Rashid Shaheed (thigh).

Three other starters were limited participants in wide receiver Chris Olave (concussion) and center Erik McCoy (shoulder), plus right tackle Ryan Ramczyk (knee), who is typically limited to start the week.

Just one Lions player wasn’t able to practice on Wednesday — former Saints linebacker Alex Anzalone, who injured his hand in their Thanksgiving Day loss to the Green Bay Packers. Anzalone has hardly missed a snap the last few years in Detroit, so it would be disappointing for him to not get the chance to play against his former team.
