Auburn included in top five for four-star WR Malik Clark

Auburn looks to continue its trend of securing top receivers from the high school ranks.

The race for the nation’s top football prospects continues on the recruiting trail, where Auburn is currently making a statement with head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] making a dominant effort to turn the Tigers around.

One area the Tigers are strongly working in is the receiving corps, and they are continuing to make strides of improvement as they were announced in the top five schools for four-star [autotag]Malik Clark[/autotag].

Auburn is now in a battle with Florida State, North Carolina, North Carolina State, and South Carolina for the product out of Rock Hill High School (South Carolina).

In the midst of his recruiting race, Clark has not yet made his official visit with the Tigers, but has already visited North Carolina and South Carolina, and has plans to visit Florida State and North Carolina State later this month.

He is currently ranked the No. 247 overall player and the No. 36 wide receiver in the nation according to the On3 industry ranking. He is also put down as the No. 2 player in all of South Carolina.

A potential would put Clark in as the first wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class for Auburn, but he would join tight end [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag] as the only to skill position players on the offensive side of the ball.

Auburn shoots to the top of five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham’s list

The momentum built from last season’s WR haul has carried over into the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Auburn football is making big strides to try and land highly talented recruits from across the country, hosting many on official visits as of late. Head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] is attempting to turn around a program that has struggled in recent years, and he seems to have high school prospects on board with his plan for the future.

One of those prospects who is optimistic about the experience is five-star wide receiver [autotag]Caleb Cunningham[/autotag], who made his fifth total visit to the Plains last weekend.

The Choctaw County High School (Mississippi) product seemed to have another overall positive experience in his time on campus. He has been heavily pursued by the Tigers, which seems to be currently paying off.

“I told them yesterday they stand No. 1,” Cunningham said in an interview with Auburn Live. “Just the culture and how they treat me like family. It’s great people and I want to be around great people. It’s just a vibe here. It’s just great being here. I told them I don’t want to leave.”

Wide receivers coach [autotag]Marcus Davis[/autotag] and offensive coordinator [autotag]Derrick Nix[/autotag] have been developing relationships with Cunningham throughout the process, which has played a big factor in how the Mississippi native feels towards the program.

The 6-3, 185-pound product is being heavily recruited by other schools in the SEC and has lined up official visits to Florida, Tennessee and Alabama over the next three weeks.

Cunningham is currently ranked as the No. 15 player in the nation and the No. 2 wide receiver in the 2025 class according to the On3 industry ranking. He is also the No. 1 player in the state of Mississippi.

A commitment by Cunningham would make him Auburn’s highest rated recruit in the 2025 cycle. As of now, he would join [autotag]Tavaris Dice[/autotag], [autotag]Carde Smith[/autotag], [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag], [autotag]Tai Buster[/autotag] and [autotag]Spencer Dowland[/autotag] on the offensive side of the ball in this class, along with others who made their official visits this weekend, as well.

Auburn Tigers make three-star TE’s Hollis Davidson’s top seven

The Auburn Tigers have made the cut for tight end Hollis Davidson, who is down to seven schools.

The Auburn Tigers are looking to sign multiple tight ends in the 2025 recruiting class and one of their targets is [autotag]Hollis Davidson[/autotag]. The interest is mutual as the three-star prospect included Auburn in his top seven schools on Friday.

The Tigers are battling Miami, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Florida, and Cincinnati for him. Auburn and tight ends coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] offered him a scholarship on Oct. 21, 2023, and have been pursuing him ever since.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Aigamaua stopped by McIntosh High School on Thursday to visit Davidson. It was their first time getting to see him since he visited the Plains for the Iton Bowl last season.

Davidson is the No. 365 overall player and No. 20 tight end in the 247Sports composite ranking. The Peachtree City native is also the No. 40 player from Georgia.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder caught 30 passes for 436 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Auburn has already landed one tight end in the 2025 recruiting cycle in three-star [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag], who is also from Georgia. The Tigers have not signed a highs chool tight end since [autotag]Micah Riley[/autotag] in 2022 and are looking to add some much needed youth to the room.

Auburn offers 4-star tight end Nick Townsend

Auburn is looking for a second tight end to pair with Ryan Ghea in the 2025 recruiting class.

Auburn’s tight end coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] has already landed three-star tight end [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag] in the 2025 recruiting cycle but he is not done.

The Tigers are trying to add some youth to the room after not signing a high school prospect in either of the past two classes and are looking to land multiple tight ends.

A new target emerged Friday night when he extended an offer to four-star prospect [autotag]Nick Townsend[/autotag]. The 6-foot-3, 220-pounder is from Houston, Texas, and has over 20 offers already, including ones from Texas, Ole Miss, Alabama and more.

Townsend is the No. 140 overall player and No. 4 athlete in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 25 player from Texas.

Playing on both sides of the ball, Townsend had a great junior season for Dekaney High School. On offense, he caught 18 passes for 431 yards and seven touchdowns and rushed for two touchdowns on six carries. He was just as impressive on defense, making 76 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, 8.0 sacks and recovering three fumbles.

Four-star DL announces commitment to Auburn

Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers have landed another talented addition to its 2025 haul.

There is less than a month remaining until the early signing period begins for members of the 2024 class. Still, Auburn is continuing to build toward its future by landing a talented member of the 2025 cycle.

[autotag]Kalen Edwards[/autotag], a four-star defensive lineman from Dyersburg, Tennessee, announced Monday that he has committed to Auburn. He chose the Tigers over many Power Five programs such as Georgia, Tennessee, and Missouri.

Edwards earned an offer from Auburn last January, his third offer at the time. Since then, Edwards has fielded 10 additional offers. He visited Auburn during Iron Bowl weekend and left the visit feeling optimistic about Auburn’s future under head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag].

“The environment was electric and Coach Freeze is going to take the program to a special place in the near future,” Edwards said in a recent interview with Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.

The Tigers are now No. 7 in 247Sports 2025 recruiting rankings following Edwards’ commitment. The class is headlined by four-star DL [autotag]Malik Autry[/autotag], four-star EDGE [autotag]Jakaleb Faulk[/autotag], and three-star TE [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag].

Edwards is the No. 9 overall prospect from the state of Tennessee from the 2025 cycle and is the No. 28 defensive lineman for the class.

2025 4-star TE Ryan Ghea commits to Auburn

Auburn has landed a recruit on three straight days.

For the third time this week, [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Auburn football have landed a key recruit. This time it was 2025 four-star tight end [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag], who announced his commitment Sunday afternoon on social media.

Originally planning to commit in February, Ghea has visited Auburn six times this season, including his most recent trip on Nov. 7 and decided to go ahead and announce his pledge earlier than planned.

He is Auburn’s third commit in the past three days. [autotag]Laquan Robinson[/autotag], the No. 1 JUCO safety, committed on Friday and four-star edge [autotag]Jamonta Waller[/autotag] flipped from Florida on Saturday after Auburn’s dominant win over Arkansas.

Ghea is from Alpharetta, Georgia and is Auburn’s sixth commit in the 2025 cycle, giving the Tigers the No. 5 class in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.

He quickly became one of [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag]’s top targets in the cycle and the Tigers did not shy away from letting him know that.

“It means a lot to me. It means once again that I am a priority to them and they think that I can be a part of their program and make an impact,” Ghea told Auburn Undercover’s Christian Clemente. “I think he’s (Freeze) a great coach, great guy, great family man and he’s turning this program back to where it should be.”

He is the No. 308 overall player and No. 15 tight end in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 35 player from Georgia.

Auburn trending for 2025 TE Ryan Ghea

Auburn is trending for one of the top tight ends in the 2025 class.

Auburn has already assembled an impressive 2025 recruiting class and they are now the favorites to land another top target.

Four-star tight end [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag] visited the Plains on Tuesday and ever since then, there has been plenty of buzz surrounding Auburn. It was his sixth trip this season, trips to watch Auburn play Georgia and Samford in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Ghea admitted to Auburn Undercover’s Christain Clemente that Auburn is one of the leaders in his recruitment and explained why he is so high on [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Co.

“It’s definitely their tight end usage, their education, they’re closest to home and how I feel once I get on campus,” Ghea said.

He has said a decision is likely coming “sometime around February” but Clemente feels confident enough to cast a crystal ball for Auburn to land Ghea, his is the only prediction on 247Sports for where Ghea will commit.

He wasn’t the only expert to pull the trigger either, On3’s Jeffrey Lee logged a prediction of his own in Auburn’s favor. Lee’s prediction gives Auburn a 74.5% chance to land him, according to On3’s recruiting prediction machine.

Ghea is the No. 308 overall player and No. 15 tight end in the 247Sports composite ranking. The Alpharetta native is also the No. 35 player from Georgia.

Versatile Georgia TE eyeing return visit to Death Valley

This tight end prospect from the Peach State, closing in on double-digit Power Five offers, made his first-ever gameday visit to Death Valley earlier this season.

Milton (Ga.) High School’s Ryan Ghea, a standout sophomore in the class of 2025, traveled to Clemson for the 3:30 p.m. game against Furman back on Sept. 10.

“It was just the atmosphere overall,” Ghea said, reflecting on what stood out to him about the gameday visit. “I came for a midday game, and it was practically sold out. And then it was just how Coach (Kyle) Richardson used the tight ends in the passing game.”

Speaking of Richardson, the Tigers’ first-year passing game coordinator and tight ends coach, Ghea said he reached out to his head coach at Milton about Ghea returning to Clemson for another game this season.

According to Ghea, Richardson and the Tigers want him to come back for the Nov. 19 matchup against Miami, and that’s something he plans to do if his team’s playoff schedule permits.

“Working with my parents to get back,” he said. “Our playoffs have been moved to Sat. Waiting to see if this one is too.”

Ghea said the interest from Clemson and fact the Tigers hope to get him back on campus “means a lot” to him.

“Just trying to stay humble in the whole process and just keep my head down and work hard,” he added.

When Ghea visited Clemson for the Furman game, he was able to spend a lot of time with offensive player development coach Tajh Boyd and had some individual time with Richardson as well.

Milton (Ga.) High School 2025 tight end Ryan Ghea with Clemson passing game coordinator/tight ends coach Kyle Richardson

“I like how he envisions me there, like how he thinks that I would fit well with their culture,” Ghea said of Richardson. “When we were talking, he showed me examples of players that are in his tight end room right now that are kind of like me.”

According to Ghea (6-5.5, 220), Richardson likens him to Clemson sophomore tight end Jake Briningstool (6-6, 230).

“He compares me to him because I’m practically almost the same weight he was when he came in and I’m the same height as him,” Ghea said. “So, that’s really how he compared me there.”

How does Ghea describe himself as a tight end?

“I would describe myself as very versatile,” he said, “whether it’s blocking anybody – outside, inside the box – and then being a pass catcher, willing to come out of the backfield, on-the-line tight end, going in the slot, anywhere.”

Ghea has also attended Georgia Tech, Florida State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, South Carolina, Wisconsin and Cincinnati games this season.

With the exception of South Carolina, all of those schools have offered Ghea, who also owns offers from schools such as Ohio State, NC State, Louisville and Indiana.

It’s still early in the recruiting process for Ghea, and Clemson of course usually doesn’t offer prospects until the summer before their junior year.

“I would definitely, first of all, appreciate the offer. I would consider it,” he said of Clemson. “But I’m still really early with my recruiting. I’m still trying to figure out what will fit for me.”

Multiple things about Clemson stand out to Ghea when he looks at it as a potential college option, should the Tigers pull the trigger on an offer down the road.

“Definitely the atmosphere and how the gamedays are, like how it is on the field, just how it feels,” he said, “and how they use multiple tight ends.”

What will be important to Ghea whenever he makes his college decision in the future?

“Definitely the education for me,” he said. “How the education fits with what I want to do, and how they treat my family and how comfortable I feel there.”
