Rutgers football is the latest to offer Jayden Loftin

Rutgers football offered a top athlete in New Jersey on Thursday.

Jayden Loftin was offered by Rutgers football on Thursday as the Scarlet Knights officially got involved with one of the top defensive ends in the nation.

Loftin is a local product located just minutes away from Rutgers in Somerville (Somerville, New Jersey). He is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound edge who is ranked a three-star by Rivals.

He is a class of 2025 prospect and boasts an extensive offer list. He was on campus for an unofficial visit to see a spring practice.

Offered by Boston College, UConn, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Minnesota, Penn State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee and Wisconsin among others, Loftin now counts in-state Rutgers as offer No. 17 in his recruitment.

He is the No. 24 player in the state according to Rivals.

On Thursday afternoon, Loftin posted on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) about the offer from the Scarlet Knights.

 

Thursday was a busy day for Rutgers football as Haleem Muhammad announced that he will be taking an official visit to Rutgers.

The 2025 recruiting class currently stands at four commits for Rutgers, including three from New Jersey. The most recent addition in the class came within the past week with the commitment of three-star defensive back Renick ‘Stretch’ Dorilas.

Dorilas will play his senior season at Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey).

In late March, Zion Lee was offered by Rutgers football, adding another Power Five program into a crowded recruitment.

A class of 2026 prospect, Elee plans to visit Rutgers football sometime this month.

Elee is an edge rusher from Joppatowne (Joppa, Maryland). He checks in at 6-foot-5, 225-pound who has a strong offer list that includes Maryland, Minnesota, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin among others.

His offer from Rutgers came on a call with head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag].

“I was excited to receive an offer straight from a head coach. That’s how you know it ain’t a game,” Elee told Rutgers Wire.

“The program is great in my opinion with a nice, building defense and they also bring put a lot of players in the league.”

In late March, Elee took an unofficial visit to Maryland.

Following the offer from Rutgers, the Scarlet Knights are doing well with Elee in his recruitment.

 

“It’s up there in my top schools for now,” Elee said. “But I haven’t made an official top five, opportunities still rolling in.”

One of New Jersey’s top prospects, Haleem Muhammad, is set for a Rutgers football official visit

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Haleem Muhammad announced on Thursday that he will be taking an official visit to Rutgers this summer.

The announcement from Muhammad comes days after he took an unofficial visit to Rutgers for a spring practice.

A class of 2025 prospect, Muhammad is a 6-foot-3, 250-pound defensive end from the Pennington School (Pennington, New Jersey). He is the No. 14 player in New Jersey according to Rivals.

His offer list is strong and national. So far in the recruiting process, Muhammad has been offered by Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Florida, Maryland, Penn State, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others.

Muhammad will visit Rutgers the weekend of June 7.

 

He corrected the dates of his official visit in a subsequent post on social media.

On Thursday night, Muhammad said he plans on taking official visits to Penn State and Syracuse. Notre Dame, who hasn’t offered yet, could be a candidate to get an official visit as well.

Rutgers football is hosting two bigtime athletes for Thursday unofficial visits

Two visitors are on campus for Rutgers football on Thursday.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — Two of the top recruits in the nation are on campus to visit Rutgers football. The Thursday visits continue a busy spring for Rutgers on the recruiting front.

Rutgers currently has four players committed in the 2025 class. Over the weekend, three-star defensive back Renick Dorilas committed to the Scarlet Knights.

He is a top 10 player in New Jersey.

On campus on Thursday is Antwan Raymond, a four-star running back according to Rivals. He is ranked the No. 22 running back prospect in the nation.

Rutgers Wire can confirm that Raymond is currently on campus.

The running back from Clearwater International (Clearwater, New Jersey) also holds offers from Auburn, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Miami, South Carolina and Texas A&M among others.

Joining Raymond on campus is Isaiah Deloatch.

A linebacker from Hillside (Durham, North Carolina), Deloatch is also a standout sprinter. He is an impressive 6-foot-1 and 208 pounds.

Deloatch holds offers from Duke, Indiana and Syracuse among others.

 

Rutgers already has one linebacker committed in this class. In February, four-star linebacker Talibi Kaba committed to Rutgers.

 

Chris Vigna talks Rutgers football offer, possible future visit

Chris Vigna was offered by Rutgers football on Tuesday.

Chris Vigna was offered on Tuesday by Rutgers football as one of the region’s top offensive linemen was on campus for an unofficial visit.

A class of 2025 recruit from Bergen Catholic (Oradell, New Jersey), Vigna has a strong offer list that includes Boston College, Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Virginia Tech and West Virginia among others.

He plays for Bergen Catholic (Oradell, New Jersey), the top-ranked team in the state.

At 6-foot-5 and 280 pounds, Vigna has a good frame and size to play at the Power Five level. He is strong at his base and core and explodes up powerfully.

He gets to the second level when needed with his blocking. He finishes off defenders, playing consistently to the whistle.

His visit to Rutgers began at 8:00 a.m. with time spent in the offensive line meeting with coach Pat Flaherty.

“After that, I watched practice walking around with the o-line and coach Flaherty,” Vigna told Rutgers Wire.

“After practice, we had lunch and got a campus tour with coach Dalton. The day finished with meetings with coaches – first coach Flaherty and then coach Schiano who offered me in his office.”

According to Rivals, Vigna is a three-star recruit.

The Rutgers offer is certainly one that caught the attention of Vigna, who is playing his recruitment close to the vest and not tipping his hand. An official visit to Rutgers is something that could be in the mix.

“I have some great offers, so I have been more focused on them. However, I had a great day (on Tuesday) at Rutgers and now that they have offered me, I am going to be much more active with them and adding them to the top schools on my list,” Vigna said.

“Coach Schiano talked about scheduling an official visit in June at our meeting (on Tuesday). Nothing has been finalized but I would certainly consider that.”

Vigna has an official visit to Boston College (the weekend of June 7) and one at Pittsburgh (beginning on June 13) already scheduled. He will be taking unofficial visits this weekend to Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and West Virginia.

Taeshawn Alston has scheduled an official visit to Rutgers football, putting the Big Ten program in the mix for a talented edge rusher who has an impressive offer list.

Alston announced the official visit to Rutgers via his social media on Wednesday afternoon. The official visit date announcement comes after Alston took an unofficial visit this week to campus.

The official visit weekend at Rutgers for Alston begins on June 7.

A member of the class of 2025, he is an impressive 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds and currently plays for Vance County High School (Henderson, North Carolina).

Six weeks ago, Alston announced his top six which included Rutgers. The other five schools Alston is considering are South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, West Virginia and Virginia Tech.

“They are getting an official visit because, like I’ve said before, (they are) a great program, great head coach that wants players to develop and (is) all about his players,” Alston told Rutgers Wire.

“Great staff behind him, all about family. They are a hard working team with a great atmosphere.”

According to 247Sports, he is a top-10 player in North Carolina and the No. 33 edge rusher in the nation.

A relationship with head coach Greg Schiano helped Renick Dorilas commit to Rutgers football. One of New Jersey’s top players, Dorilas gave his verbal to Rutgers over the weekend.

Dorilas is a three-star defensive back who transferred to play his senior season at Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey). He is now the fourth player to commit to Rutgers football in the 2025 class and the third from New Jersey.

Rivals ranks Dorilas as a top-10 recruit in New Jersey with an offer list that included Boston College, Duke, Minnesota, Penn StateTennessee and West Virginia among others.

With Schiano, the relationship that Dorilas has forged was something that factored into his commitment.

“Coach Schiano is a really good guy,” Dorilas told Rutgers Wire this week.

“Every time me and coach Schiano talk, it is always a good conversation and it is always something new to learn from him.

“But what stood out the most is what he preaches actually happens and I feel like I can trust him to make me the best defensive back possible.”

When he arrives at Rutgers, Dorilas already knows where he will line up.

“They want me to play corner,” Dorilas said.

“Real hands on, be able to use my length and go get the ball.”

An elite level athlete, Dorilas has good speed and agility to partner with his coverage ability. His natural instincts are seen in his ability to break up plays.

His length led to the nickname ‘Stretch.” The name came from when he was just starting to play football.

“One of my first ever coaches gave me the name,” Dorilas said. “I used to be taller than everyone on my team.”

Priority recruit Taeshawn Alston will be taking an unofficial visit on Monday to Rutgers football. One of the top players in North Carolina has steadily been hearing from Rutgers over the past month.

In mid-February, Alston unveiled a top six that included Rutgers football. The cutdown in his recruitment came just a week after he was offered by the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers football sent out a weekend offer to Damon Ferguson following a Saturday visit.

Damon ‘Nuddle’ Ferguson was offered by Rutgers football on Saturday, putting the Big Ten program squarely in the mix for the talented athlete.

A class of 2026 defensive back from Maryland, Ferguson is a special player. He boasts elite speed and agility.

In early March, Ferguson ran a 49.75 time in the 400 meters at the Nike Indoor Nationals.

He has an offer list that includes Boston College, Bowling Green and Liberty among others. According to On3, he is a three-star and the sixth-best recruit in Maryland’s 2026 class.

He is the No. 26 ranked athlete in the nation.

In posting about the Rutgers offer on social media, Ferguson tagged running backs coach Damiere Shaw and quality control assistant coach Matt Hewitt.

A three-star defensive back who will play next year at Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey), Dorilas is a top-10 recruit in New Jersey according to Rivals. The 5-foot-11 defensive back held offers that included Boston College, Duke, Minnesota, Penn State, Tennessee and West Virginia among others.

“So, I just chose to lock in,” Dorilas told Rutgers Wire on Sunday night.

“I picked Rutgers because throughout all my recruitment nobody has shown more love than Rutgers and I have very good relationships with most of the defensive coaches. They treat me like family and I trust being there with them will put me in the right spot.”

On Saturday, Dorilas was one of several high-profile recruits that were on campus for an unofficial visit. He saw a spring practice and spent significant time with the coaching staff.

Did Saturday’s visit answer any questions or settle anything for Dorilas?

“No, not really,” Dorilas said.

“I’ve been there plenty of times and realized that it’s home.”

His connection with the coaching staff is “a bond that just kept getting stronger.”

Dorilas was a frequent visitor on campus during the fall, taking in a number of Rutgers games. Now, he is settled on his college decision but he still has big goals to achieve.
