Wisconsin football makes the final schools for a 2025 edge rusher

Wisconsin made the top seven schools for three-star 2025 edge rusher Jayden Loftin on Wednesday.

Loftin is 247Sports’ No. 740 player in the class of 2025, No. 54 edge rusher and No. 25 recruit from his home state of New Jersey.

The Badgers made the cut along with Tennessee, South Carolina, Syracuse, Penn State, West Virginia and Minnesota. Loftin already has official visits scheduled with Minnesota, Penn State, Tennessee and West Virginia. Wisconsin is not yet on that list, but it should be once the cycle heats up in the summer months.

Wisconsin’s class of 2025 currently ranks No. 20 in the nation with seven players committed. It’s early in the process, but the program has yet to land a blue-chip recruit.

2025 edge prospect Jayden Loftin includes Tennessee football in top seven schools.

2025 edge prospect Jayden Loftin announced his top seven schools.

Tennessee, Penn State, South Carolina, Syracuse, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Minnesota are Loftin’s top seven schools.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound three-star edge prospect is from Somerville High School in Somerville, New Jersey.

The Vols are one of three Southeastern Conference schools to offer Loftin.

Tennessee offered a scholarship to Loftin on Dec. 8, 2023. Syracuse was the first school to offer a scholarship to the 2025 safety on July 1, 2023.

The Vols have seven commitments in its 2025 recruiting class: Quarterback George MacIntyre, defensive lineman Ethan Utley, tight end Jack Van Dorseiaer, cornerback Dylan Lewis, running back Justin Baker, wide receiver Joakim Dodson and cornerback Tyler Redmond.

Jayden Loftin was offered by Rutgers football over the weekend, putting the Big Ten program very much in the mix one of New Jersey’s top players.

Rutgers is now in the mix for Loftin he says. And it is a busy time in his schedule, with a visit to the Tennessee Volunteers on tap for this weekend.

He is a 6-foot-4 and 235-pound edge rusher from Somerville (Somerville, New Jersey) and is part of the class of 2025.

He is the No. 42 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 20 overall rospect in New Jersey in this current class according to 247Sports. Over the weekend, Loftin took an unofficial visit to Rutgers.

It was on that visit that head coach [autotag]Greg Schiano[/autotag] offered Loftin.

“It felt real good to have an offer from the hometown team,” Loftin told Rutgers Wire.

“They are building something special there.”

Loftin took a dive into the particulars of the offer from Schiano and his reaction to the program officially getting involved in his recruitment.

“Coach Schiano really emphasized what the program stood for and what he wanted for the program in years to come,” Loftin said.

“I like the F.T.C. (mantra) because that is something my family has really drilled into me since I was little so it was very relatable.

“They are in my top 10 for sure, I enjoyed the visit.”

As for an official visit, Loftin said he is booked with his four official visits “so we didn’t discuss anything about an official visit.”

His four visits are:

  • West Virginia (May 31-June 2)
  • Tennessee (June 7-9)
  • Minnesota (June 14-16)
  • Penn State (June 21-23)

This upcoming weekend, Loftin has an unofficial visit to Tennessee.

“I’ve never been but the coaching staff has been in frequent contact and I’ve enjoyed talking them,” Loftin said.

Rutgers football is the latest to offer Jayden Loftin

Rutgers football offered a top athlete in New Jersey on Thursday.

Jayden Loftin was offered by Rutgers football on Thursday as the Scarlet Knights officially got involved with one of the top defensive ends in the nation.

Loftin is a local product located just minutes away from Rutgers in Somerville (Somerville, New Jersey). He is a 6-foot-3, 220-pound edge who is ranked a three-star by Rivals.

He is a class of 2025 prospect and boasts an extensive offer list. He was on campus for an unofficial visit to see a spring practice.

Offered by Boston College, UConn, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Minnesota, Penn State, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Syracuse, Tennessee and Wisconsin among others, Loftin now counts in-state Rutgers as offer No. 17 in his recruitment.

He is the No. 24 player in the state according to Rivals.

On Thursday afternoon, Loftin posted on X (the social media platform formerly known as Twitter) about the offer from the Scarlet Knights.

 

Thursday was a busy day for Rutgers football as Haleem Muhammad announced that he will be taking an official visit to Rutgers.

The 2025 recruiting class currently stands at four commits for Rutgers, including three from New Jersey. The most recent addition in the class came within the past week with the commitment of three-star defensive back Renick ‘Stretch’ Dorilas.

Dorilas will play his senior season at Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, New Jersey).

Tennessee is the first SEC school to offer 2025 edge prospect from New Jersey.

Tennessee football offered a scholarship to 2025 edge prospect Jayden Loftin.

“Blessed to receive my first SEC offer from Vol football,” Loftin announced.

The 6-foot-4, 235-pound Loftin is from Somerville High School in Somerville, New Jersey.

He holds scholarships offers from the Vols, Georgia Tech, Syracuse and West Virginia.

The Vols have four commitments in its 2025 recruiting class: Cornerback Shamar Arnoux, cornerback Dylan Lewis, running back Justin Baker and cornerback Tyler Redmond.

Tennessee is also recruiting towards its 2024 class. The early signing period for the 2024 recruiting class will take place Dec. 20-22. The Vols currently have 20 commitments in the 2024 class.
