AEW Dynamite results: Orange Cassidy wins last ever All-Atlantic title match, Hobbs is golden

If there’s a harder working champion in major pro wrestling right now than Orange Cassidy, we don’t know who it is. In stark contrast to his laidback vibe, Freshly Squeezed puts his All-Atlantic Championship on the line at just about every opportunity (he’s made 13 defenses since winning it last October), as he’ll do again tonight on AEW Dynamite from Sacramento.

What makes this time different is that it’s a rubber match of sorts. Jay Lethal has already had one crack at Cassidy’s title and came up short, but he also pinned Orange last August in their only other singles match. If Lethal can grab a victory on Dynamite, he’ll win not only the championship but also some bragging rights, and he’ll almost certainly have Jeff Jarrett, Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt in his corner to aid in that effort.

Another title is also on the line in Sacramento, as Wardlow squares off with Powerhouse Hobbs. Wardlow just reclaimed the TNT Championship at Revolution, and Hobbs won his shot in the Face of the Revolution ladder match just prior. Something obviously has to give in this battle of two very large, muscular men.

Other matches on this week’s Dynamite card include Blackpool Combat Club vs. Dark Order, Top Flight and AR Fox vs. the Jericho Appreciation Society, and Ruby Soho vs. Skye Blue. Plus we’ll hear from Hangman Adam Page for the first time since his brutal but triumphant Texas Death match with Jon Moxley at Revolution. Wonder if the cowboy has his eyes on a meeting with the world champ sometime soon …

AEW Revolution 2023: Biggest winners from blood-soaked night in San Francisco

These three AEW stars stood out the most on a wild night at AEW Revolution.

With several months between every AEW pay-per-view, sometimes it feels like there’s even more riding on them. After all, with the next big card not taking place for a while, if a show doesn’t come off well, the next chance to make a good impression is a ways down the road.

Happily, AEW Revolution was a spectacle that commanded your attention throughout. Say what you want about AEW’s occasionally scattershot approach to storytelling, but when it hits, it hits, and that shined through in several matches on Sunday night.

And if there’s artistry in violence, then a couple of Picassos were painted as well. The Texas Death match and the 60-minute Iron Man main event — that ended up going more than an hour — were both in that category, and there were other memorable moments in other bouts as well.

There’s time for AEW to reload for Double or Nothing in late May, which is the plus side of not having monthly PPVs. But for now, let’s take a look at who came out of Revolution looking even better than they went in.

AEW Revolution results: MJF outlasts Bryan Danielson in OT

Can AEW World Champion MJF go the distance with an opponent who is arguably the best wrestler on the planet?

All AEW pay-per-views have questions that are answered as the events unfold, but AEW Revolution 2023 has one that’s bigger than most. No one has any doubts about MJF as an entertainer, as his talent there is apparent. In the ring, he’s shown a lot so far as well.

But his prior work in AEW pales in comparison to what he’s about to do at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Bryan Danielson is quite simply a master of his craft, someone who has done and still can do it all in the ring.

Going an hour with the American Dragon is impressive enough. Winning? That might be something that changes opinions of MJF, even among people who still hate the character he portrays.

Even with that main event taking up a full hour, Revolution looks like much more than a one-match card. The women’s division will have an intriguing three-way battle for its top title when Jamie Hayter defends against both Saraya and Ruby Soho. The former is definitely an enemy, while the latter has been trying to avoid taking sides, but both will be stiff challenges.

The World Trios Championship and World Tag Team Championship will both be on the line at Revolution, as will the TNT Championship when Samoa Joe tries to hold off an angry Wardlow. “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry and Christian Cage will try to bury each other, perhaps literally. And Jon Moxley and Hangman Adam Page will go at it one more time in what promises to be a bloody Texas Death match.

AEW Revolution 2023: Start time, card, predictions and more

AEW Revolution in San Francisco is the first AEW PPV of 2023. Here’s everything you need to know, including date, start time and card.

If you were to ask a pro wrestling fan what AEW Revolution is all about, they’d probably respond with something like, “well, it’s the first AEW pay-per-view of the year!”

Indeed it is. Though Revolution hasn’t had much of a chance to build up its own unique identity yet — in large part due to it being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in two years of its brief history — it has some built-in importance as the PPV that really kicks a year in AEW into gear.

It also has a history of AEW World Championship main events, and the 2023 event should be no different. MJF hasn’t held the title all that long, but he’ll get a test worthy of a legendary reign: a 60-minute Iron Man match against Bryan Danielson. It’s the kind of bout that automatically makes fans think better of anyone who turns in a top notch performance, so it stands the chance of boosting MJF’s in-ring status to the same level of esteem his microphone work is held in.

The length of that match means this card might be slightly lower in terms of number of matches than a typical Revolution (there were 13 bouts last year, including those on the pre-show). That said, there could be more added even in this final week.

AEW Rampage results: Young Bucks get a W but House of Black is hunting them

You know what would be a cool way for a wrestling fan to end a Friday night (or kick one off, if you’re young enough for such things)? The Young Bucks vs. Aussie Open on free TV. Lo and behold, that’s what we’ve got on this episode of AEW Rampage.

That’s the good stuff, baby. Also good stuff is Action Andretti, everyone’s favorite out of nowhere story, back in … ahem, action. He’s taking on Sammy Guevara in what should be a real test of his in-ring chops.

Plus there’s the not so small detail of Revolution being less than 10 days away. There’s room on the card for a few more matches, so we’ll see if this episode confirms some.

AEW Dynamite results: Ruby wins but has had it with women’s division turmoil

Live AEW Dynamite results for Feb. 15, 2023 from Laredo, TX, including a three-way battle between Toni Storm, Britt Baker and Ruby Soho.

It’s time for the first part of a little Texas two-step for AEW. Tonight it’s Dynamite from Laredo, and the path to Revolution should start getting a bit more clearly illuminated.

But the highlight of tonight’s show should be the in-ring action, which will be plentiful and varied. The headline bout is a Texas Tornado tag team match (never more appropriate than when it’s, you know, really in Texas) that features Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli going up against Rush and Preston Vance.

Want an even bigger tag team match? We’ve got that too. Orange Cassidy, The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass are on one side of it, with Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt on the other.

The women’s division has been full of intrigue, and Ruby Soho has been in the middle of most of it. She’ll experience that in the most direct way possible in Laredo, as she’s slated to be in a three-way dance that also involves Toni Storm and Britt Baker. Is this the night where Soho will have to pick a side?

There’s much more, as well. Even AEW World Champion MJF will appear, even though he’s made it clear he’d rather not. Will be run scared again from his Revolution opponent, Bryan Danielson, or has he finally found his courage ahead of the pay-per-view?

Opening Bell: WrestleMania Backlash … er, backlash, Owen Hart tourneys kick off

Welcome to the Opening Bell, where we round up what’s been announced for WWE (Raw and SmackDown) and AEW (Dynamite and Rampage) programming for the week ahead.

WWE Raw – XL Center, Hartford, CT (live)

WWE hasn’t released its official Raw preview yet, perhaps allowing WrestleMania Backlash to soak in just a bit more. But the fallout from the event should be front and center, particularly what’s next for the Raw Tag Team Champions, RK-Bro. Is a tag team unification bout still on the horizon?

Seth Rollins won’t be happy following his second straight loss to Cody Rhodes, particularly the way it came about. The Visionary should have something to say about that Monday night, and could give us a hint as to whether he’s seeking a third match with Rhodes or moving on to something else.

And plenty of recent Raw storylines didn’t play a part in Backlash, so those are worth watching for as well. Particularly intriguing is the Kevin Owens situation, as he continues to turn what would otherwise be just another midcard subplot into gold with his quest to prove Ezekiel isn’t who he claims to be.

AEW Dynamite – UBS Arena, Long Island (live)

The Owen Hart Foundation tournaments get underway this Wednesday on TBS. The men’s tourney will see Darby Allin take on Jeff Hardy, as well as Dax Harwood vs. Adam Cole, while the women’s tourney features Jamie Hayter vs. Toni Storm. And since the “Most Magical Place in the World” is his hometown, MJF is sure to have something special cooked up for his contract signing with Wardlow.

WWE SmackDown – Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza, Wilkes Barre, PA (live)

The big match announced for SmackDown this week is one that fans may have rightfully expected to see at WrestleMania Backlash: the Women’s Tag Team Championship match. Sasha Banks and Naomi will look to retain their titles as they face Shayna Baszler and Natalya.

AEW Rampage – UBS Arena, Long Island (taped)

There’s a title on the line this week on Rampage, as Scorpio Sky lived up to his promise to give former SCU teammate Frankie Kazarian the first crack at his TNT Championship.
