Colts’ 2022 training camp preview: Cornerbacks

Here is a preview of the CB room entering training camp.

The Indianapolis Colts are less than a week away from the start of training camp when they return to the Grand Park Sports Campus in Westfield.

One of the rooms that went through a lot of changes this offseason was the cornerback room. The unit saw Rock Ya-Sin get traded to the Las Vegas Raiders while five-time Pro Bowler Stephon Gilmore was added via free agency shortly after.

6 toughest cuts from our latest Colts’ roster projection

Here were the toughest cuts from our latest Colts’ roster projection.

Though the Indianapolis Colts don’t report to Westfield for training camp for another month, it’s still not a bad idea to take a look at the roster and how things might shake out when cuts come along.

There are plenty of questions that still have yet to be answered, and most of them won’t be answered until training camp and the preseason games are concluded at the end of August.

But as we projected the 53-man roster following the conclusion of minicamp, we have an idea about how the roster might break down. We did so at each position in our latest projection.

Here, we are going to take a look at the toughest cuts from that roster projection and why those players didn’t make the cut:

Colts’ 2022 draft picks get their jersey numbers

The 2022 draft class has its jersey numbers.

The Indianapolis Colts have assigned jersey numbers to all eight members of the 2022 NFL draft class.

While these numbers aren’t guaranteed to be the same by the time the regular season rolls around, we at least get a starting point for these rookies as rookie minicamp begins Friday.

Here’s a look at the jersey numbers for the Colts’ draft picks:

  • WR Alec Pierce — No. 14
  • TE Jelani Woods — No. 80
  • OT Bernhard Raimann — No. 79
  • S Nick Cross — No. 20
  • DT Eric Johnson II — No. 93
  • TE Andrew Ogletree — No. 85
  • DT Curtis Brooks — No. 97
  • DB Rodney Thomas II — No. 25

We will see what the future holds for these numbers, but they all seem pretty strong to begin their careers with.
