Auburn offerers defensive lineman committed to Big Ten program

Auburn is looking to flip defensive lineman Roderick Pierce from the Wisconsin Badgers.

Auburn has already flipped one defensive lineman from a Big Ten school and they are now trying to flip a second.

The Tigers extended an offer to three-star defensive lineman [autotag]Roderick Pierce[/autotag] on Tuesday. He has been committed to the Wisconsin Badgers since May 13.

Wisconsin fired its head coach Paul Chryst on Oct. 2 and named defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard interim head coach for the rest of the season and  Auburn is looking to capitalize on the change to pull Pierce away from the Badgers.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound Pierce is from Oak Lawn, Illinois. He is ranked as the No. 729 overall player and No. 81 defensive lineman in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 12 player from Illinois.

Auburn has a need along the defensive line in the 2023 recruiting class and currently has commits from four-star edge rushers Ashley Williams and Wilky Denaud as well as three-star defensive lineman Jamarrion Harkless.

Michigan State football offers 2023 Wisconsin DL commit

Michigan State is in pursuit of a defensive tackle currently committed to Wisconsin

Michigan State has gotten into the mix with a 2023 defensive line recruit who is currently committed to the Wisconsin Badgers.

Roderick Pierce is the latest target to make his way onto the Spartans recruiting board. The Oak Lawn, Illinois, native attends Brother Rice High School in Illinois.

A 6-foot-3, 290-pound defensive lineman, Pierce ranks as a high 3-star prospect with an 89 rating according to 247Sports.

Michigan State will look to bring Pierce up to campus for a visit.

Wisconsin lands a commitment from three-star DT Roderick Pierce:

Paul Chryst and his coaching staff stayed hot on the recruiting trail, securing their fifth commitment in the 2023 recruiting class from three-star defensive tackle Roderick “Trey” Pierce out of Oak Lawn, Illinois. 

Per 247sports, Pierce is the No. 107 DL in the country, and the No. 23 player in the state of Illinois. You can watch his highlights here.

The Brothers Rice High School standout also held offers from Illinois, Duke, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Miami (OH), Minnesota, Missouri, Purdue, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, and several others. 

The 6-foot-3, 290-pound DT is now the third player from Illinois to commit to Wisconsin in the 2023 recruiting cycle, joining Tyler Jansey and Justin Taylor.
