After landing Pro Bowl pass rusher Za’Darius Smith in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings on Friday night, the Cleveland Browns have now made room for him on the roster. They have also created an additional spot on the roster as well. Cutting defensive tackle Roderick Perry II and linebacker Storey Jackson, the Browns currently sit at 89 players.

Today is the first day NFL teams are allowed to sign XFL players, and they have already hosted a couple of workouts. This includes the XFL Defensive Player of the Year, Pita Taumoepenu.

Look for another roster move to be made from the Browns soon to fill that spot.

Browns sign 10 players from practice squad to futures contracts

Browns have signed 10 for offseason workouts

With the 2022 season in the books, the Cleveland Browns have turned their eyes to the offseason and preparing for the 2023 season. For once today, we have some non-defensive coordinator news to report. In doing so they have signed 10 players who all finished the season on the practice squad to futures contracts. This means that the players will take place in off-season workouts as they attempt to make the team for the next season.

Some of the players saw action this year while others just spent the season learning on the practice squad. It will be interesting to see if any turn heads during off-season workouts and in training camp this summer.

Browns bringing DT Roderick Perry back to practice squad after release

After waiving him earlier this week, the Browns are signing defensive tackle Roderick Perry II back to the practice squad.

The Cleveland Browns released defensive tackle Roderick Perry II from the active roster in order to bring Ben Stille on board from the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins. Perry has now cleared waivers and has returned to Cleveland as the Browns have re-signed him to their practice squad.

Perry suited up against the Dolphins this past weekend, playing a total of 23 snaps along the Browns’ defensive interior. He racked up one tackle and one hurry of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. As the Browns continue to search for answers along their defensive interior, Perry could see himself as a gameday elevation from the practice squad over their last eight games.
