WATCH: Robert Williams III posts 16 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks vs. Rockets

Timelord gave Houston the business on Sunday in one of his best performances yet.

While the plan for now is to play it safe with Boston Celtics reserve big man Robert Williams III, the plan is to ramp up his playing time slowly so he can play a big role later in the season. It’s a good thing that’s the plan because his play of late would make it hard for head coach Brad Stevens to do anything else.

We saw why in full effect against the lowly Houston Rockets Sunday night, as Timelord helped extend their NBA-high losing streak to 16 games, a nearly historic length. The former Texas A&M standout scored 16 points, 13 rebounds, an assist, a steal and 3 blocks to brutalize the Rockets at home.

It was one of his best performances of his career to date.

WATCH: Robert Williams scores 13 points, 8 boards, 3 blocks vs. Clippers

Timelord’s timing was on full display against Los Angeles Tuesday night.

Boston Celtics reserve big man Robert Williams III continued his outstanding play against the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night, helping to secure a 117 – 115 victory over one of the NBA’s best teams with his play late in the game.

Timelord scored 13 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 blocks with just a foul and a turnover each in 22 minutes of game time, going 4-of-5 from the field and 5-of-8 from the charity stripe, including a critical make in the game’s waning moments. The Texas A&M product continues to make a case for a bigger role with his team as the season — and his game — develops.

WATCH: Boston Celtic center Robert Williams’ best plays in February

Timelord had the best month of his career to date in February.

Boston Celtics reserve big man Robert Williams III might end up shedding the ‘reserve’ title sooner rather than later if he keeps up the level of play he has been putting on the floor in the month of February.

The Texas A&M product showed an increased court awareness while logging 6.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.1 assists, a steal and 1.2 blocks per game while hitting 68.8% of his field goals overall. His per-36 minutes would put him at 15.1 points, 13.2 rebounds, 3.1 blocks, 2.2 assists and as many steals per game. While the latter stats are just rough productions, some increased run this month suggests it may be worthwhile to give Time Lord some spot starts just to see how he’ll hold up in a bigger role.

Watch the video embedded below to see how Williams increased his profile with one of the best months of play of his NBA career to date in this clip produced by Tomasz Kordylewski.

WATCH: Timelord scores 14 points, 11 boards, 4 assists, 3 blocks vs. Indy

Timelord had one of his best games of the season against the Indiana Pacers Friday.

The drumbeat to give more minutes to Boston Celtics reserve big man Robert Williams III won’t get any quieter any time soon after his brilliant performance against the Indiana Pacers Friday night, helping secure the 118 – 112 win in spectacular fashion.

The Celtics snapped a three-game losing streak in no small part to Williams’ 14 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks and a steal in just 22 minutes of play that was somehow also his season-high for floor time as well as points. His absurd offensive efficiency did not abate either with the Texas A&M product hitting 6-of-8 from the field and 2-of-3 from the line.

Timelord has found his fans calling for a bigger role for the vertically-gifted center, and his performance against the Pacers helped cement the fact that he’s deserving of one.

Celtics stats snapshot: More time for more Time Lord?

It’s past time to give Robert Williams III more run.

While he still makes plenty of mistakes, it’s getting harder by the day not to say that Boston Celtics reserve center Robert Williams III isn’t the best big man on the team in recent games.

While he has been coming off the bench intentionally to preserve his availability later in the season according to head coach Brad Stevens in a recent press availability session, Time Lord has quietly been making it hard for Stevens to justify keeping him in that role. The Texas A&M product currently leads the team in rebounds, steals and blocks per 100 possessions among players with significant minutes.

Brad Stevens explains why the double-big lineup worked vs. Atlanta

Coach Stevens related why the unorthodox lineups worked so well against the Hawks.

The much-maligned “double-big” lineup of center Tristan Thompson and big man Daniel Theis were an instrumental part of the Boston Celtics’ 121 – 109 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night at TD Garden, perhaps to the surprise of more than a few of Brad Stevens’ critics on that issue.

Add in plenty of time for Theis or Thomas and reserve center Robert Williams III, and there were big men a-plenty on the floor for the Celtics — and the chemistry was good, as was their scoring and defense for the most part. Thompson played his best game with Boston yet, scoring 17 points and 5 rebounds, and Theis played well with 14 points, 8 boards and 3 blocks.

Time Lord added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 blocks off the bench.

Robert Williams III OUT vs. Toronto Raptors with ‘left hip soreness’

Time Lord will sit to rest a sore left hip — a concerning development given his injury history.

The Hospital Celtics are flirting with a comeback as another name is added to the Boston Celtics injury list — Robert Williams III is out for Boston’s home rematch with the Toronto Raptors with a sore left hip.

Joining veteran guard Marcus Smart (calf tear) and second-year wing Romeo Langford (wrist) as scratches for the contest, Time Lord’s injury bears watching moving forward. The Louisiana native missed 38 games of the 2019-20 season with a left hip bone edema — effectively a severe bone bruise, a type of fracture — and with several other Celtics out or nursing sore extremities, it is certainly a development of concern.

The Raptors report no additional surprises on the injury front from our earlier assessment of their health, and while Boston has the bodies to man a frontcourt against a team relatively thin for big men like Toronto, the Celtics will be missing the vertical spacing and intensity he brings to the court.

Time Lord, Walker on restriction vs. 76ers; Tatum ramping up for return

Robert Williams will be available tonight against the 76ers, but he and Kemba Walker will be on minutes limits — and Jayson Tatum is reportedly ramping up for a return.

Robert Williams III will be available to play against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday evening according to Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens — and All-NBA small forward Jayson Tatum has reportedly exited the league’s health and safety protocol after an extended absence triggered by an asymptomatic COVID-19 test.

Speaking to the media ahead of the team’s 7 p.m. (ET) contest with Philadelphia, Stevens revealed that Time Lord would be limited to 10-15 minutes of playing time. Teammate and recent fellow returnee Kemba Walker would also have a minutes limit, around the 20 minutes of game time he had against the New York Knicks.

Perhaps most importantly, the Celtics coach revealed “Tatum feels great,” and “worked out yesterday, real briefly,” as well as in Boston today.

Stevens anticipates that Tatum’s ramp-up period will likely be less early given he was playing considerably more minutes per game than Williams, but did not shed any light on whether the Duke product would be available for Boston’s Friday game against the 76ers.

Time Lord likely vs. 76ers, per Stevens; Tatum, Edwards out Wednesday

Robert Williams III practiced with the Celtics Tuesday, and Kemba Walker felt good — but Jayson Tatum and Carsen Edwards are out vs. the 76ers.

The Boston Celtics are inching back to having a fully available roster after several games were postponed last week due to the number of their players out injured or in the NBA’s health and safety protocol for positive COVID-19 diagnoses or contact tracing.

Starting point guard Kemba Walker made his season debut with the team in a 105 – 75 blowout loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday, and head coach Brad Stevens revealed that not only did the UConn product respond well to his first live-game action in months, but that big man Robert Williams III was likely to return from an extended absence due to COVID-19.

“[Kemba was] responding great in in practice,” offered Stevens when asked how the New Yorker was feeling after his first game back from a long ramp-up period.

“Robert practiced today, He’ll travel with us. I don’t know if there’s another step he needs to make to be okay to play, but I would say he’s likely to play,” he elaborated. “Carsen [Edwards] and Jayson [Tatum] will not be traveling.”

While it remains unclear exactly what Edwards’ status is regard to a COVID-19 diagnosis, Tatum has been reported to have tested positive with an asymptomatic case.

It remains plausible that the Duke product could conceivably join the team for their second game of an away mini-series with the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday, the first of the two contests falling on Wednesday and too soon for tatum’s recovery timetable.

The Celtic coach also confirmed there’d been no news of a postponement for the Wednesday game with the Sixers struggling with their own contact tracing issues in recent days.

WATCH: Is the Celtics’ Robert Williams already having a breakout season?

Is Time Lord finally starting to come into his own as a player?

There is a growing consensus that Boston Celtics big man Robert Williams III may finally be ready for real responsibility in the team’s rotation, with the Texas A&M product demonstrating he can stay on the floor defensively while providing vertical spacing, passing and midrange shooting on the other side of the ball.

So far this season, Time Lord has been averaging 6 points, 5.6 rebounds, a steal and 1.6 blocks per game while logging an absurd 78.9% field goal percentage. And while that latter stat is sure to go down when the Louisiana native gets more than the 15.8 minutes a game he’s been averaging, with two starting-caliber centers already on the roster, it’s not clear where those minutes will come from.

Boston fans are starting to chomp at the bit to see Williams get more playing time, and the play in the video put together by our friends at The Playgrounder will give you a good idea why.

The former Aggie is in the midst of a breakout of sorts — the kind of problem most front offices would like to have moving forwards.
