How Jets’ Aaron Rodgers, Robert Saleh moved past ‘cadence issue’

How Jets’ Aaron Rodgers, Robert Saleh moved past ‘cadence issue’

It was certainly a week of off-field headlines for the New York Jets (2-2) before facing the Minnesota Vikings (4-0) in Week 5.

In addition to trade speculation revolving around All-Pro Davante Adams and No. 1 wide receiver Garrett Wilson’s stir-causing comments… we had Aaron Rodgers and Robert Saleh.

This one started before the rest. After last week’s 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos, the quarterback and head coach seemed to be on different pages relating to the cadance he uses, pre-snap.

Soon after that Week 4 final, Saleh said maybe that has to change because the Jets took way too many penalties in the contest, 15 in total as a team, with several being false starts on offense.

Meanwhile, Rodgers thought teammates needed to be held accountable.

But there was no controversy after that. Both downplayed it. The QB went on to blame the question itself a bit.

“I think the question may have been posed in a way that might not have been exactly what was said,” Rodgers said during his weekly appearance on the “Pat McAfee Show.”

Saleh was direct.

“There is no cadence issue, there never was a cadence issue. It was created,” Saleh said via video conference this week. “Aaron and I are fantastic. Love the guy.”

Some week it’s been 1 Jets Drive…

Rodgers’ full thoughts can be found in the clip below:

Aaron Rodgers, Robert Saleh disagree about Jets offense vs. Broncos

Aaron Rodgers, Robert Saleh disagree about Jets offense vs. Broncos

Well, that got a bit awkward at MetLife Stadium.

The New York Jets (2-2) and their performance against the Denver Broncos (2-2) in a 10-9 loss in Week 4 was bad enough.

Adding to that was the disagreement between quarterback and head coach.

Aaron Rodgers responded to an assessment that Robert Saleh had on the team’s offense during his post-game press conference.

The coach suggested that, perhaps, the way the offense operates has to be changed.

“We’ve got to figure it out, whether or not we’re good enough or ready to handle all the cadence,” Saleh said via video conference. “Felt like our operation had been operating pretty good. Obviously, today it took a major step back.”

That’s where Rodgers disagreed. The QB said the standard just needs to be higher.

“That’s one way to do it,” Rodgers said. “The other way is to hold them accountable. We haven’t had an issue.”

Rodgers’ frustrations are a bit understandable. His stats from the game tell the story. Not his 24-for-42 passing numbers, rather, the 14 QB hits and five sacks Rodgers took–not to mention the multiple penalties New York’s offensive line were flagged for.

Rodgers’ full response can be found in the clip below:

What Jets’ Robert Saleh said about penalty problems vs. Broncos

What Jets’ Robert Saleh said about penalty problems vs. Broncos

The New York Jets shot themselves in the foot over and over again against the Denver Broncos.

The Jets (2-2) lost 10-9 to the Broncos (2-2) and in the process took 15 penalties. Of those, 13 were accepted for a loss of 90 yards.

While some can be debated such as wide receiver Allen Lazard celebrating a first down, when you have a number like that it’s not really a question. It’s a problem.

New York head coach Robert Saleh knows that and said it has to change.

Saleh’s full thoughts on the penalty issue can be found below:

Jets’ Robert Saleh provides CJ Mosley, Morgan Moses injury updates

New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh provided two injury updates early this week ahead of facing the Denver Broncos in Week 4.

On Wednesday, Saleh provided new information on the likes of linebacker CJ Mosley and offensive lineman Morgan Moses.

In terms of facing the Broncos, Mosley has a better chance per Saleh. He initially injured his toe in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans. In saying “it’s going to come up to it,” Saleh made it sound as if Mosley will be a game-time decision for the Jets (2-1) ahead of Sunday’s 1 p.m. kickoff against the Broncos (1-2).

On Moses, it was a much clearer picture. His knee injury sustained last week will keep him out for a couple of games. However, Moses will not be placed on injured reserve, so he could just miss one or two outings.

Saleh’s full updates on both players can be found in the SNY clips below:

Was the Jets’ win over the Patriots on Thursday more because of the offense or defense?

Even head coach Robert Saleh couldn’t decide so everyone got some love in his post-win locker room speech.

The Jets topped the Patriots in their home opener at MetLife Stadium in a 24-3 final.

The defensive-minded coach made sure to tip his cap to that side of the ball first. Then he moved over to quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

When the coach mentioned that the 40-year-old rushed for 18 yards? That stat, above all else, got the loudest reaction of all from his players.

What did Aaron Rodgers say to Robert Saleh during awkward hug moment? The Jets QB has an answer.

Here’s the answer from Aaron Rodgers about that awkward hug.

It was one of the weirder moments of Thursday night’s New York Jets win over the New England Patriots.

After a touchdown scored by Brece Hall, head coach Robert Saleh tried to embrace Aaron Rodgers, who pushed him away, seemingly saying something to the effect of, “Don’t celebrate yet!”

What was really said? Here’s what Rodgers said after the game: “Awkward? No. … He’s not a big hugger usually, so I didn’t know he was going for the hug. He likes to do the two-hand chest push as well. He talks a lot about two-score leads. So I just kind of gave him a push and said ‘two-score lead.'”

There you have it.

Aaron Rodgers seemed weirdly annoyed with Robert Saleh for trying to celebrate a Jets touchdown with him

This was awkward!

The New York Jets had no trouble with the New England Patriots on the field during the first half of Thursday Night Football.

However, Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and coach Robert Saleh had a really bizarre interaction with each other on the sideline.

As Saleh seemingly went in to celebrate a Breece Hall touchdown that put New York up by two scores over New England, Rodgers seemed to push Saleh off and say something to him in frustration.

Our best guess is that Rodgers tells Saleh to “hold on,” like he’s not ready to do any celebrating just yet, but who’s to say?

This is a really weird moment between a quarterback and coach after scoring a touchdown of all things, as goodness only knows what’s going here.

3 keys to a Jets victory vs. the Patriots in Week 3

3 keys to a Jets victory vs. the Patriots in Week 3:

The New York Jets will hope to add a win to their 2024 record in Week 3. The team will host the New England Patriots at MetLife Stadium on Thursday.

As usual, it will never be a walk in the park in the NFL. If the Jets (1-1) expect to beat the Pats (1-1), there will be a few key things New York will have to focus on against New England.

It will have to be a full-team effort, make no mistake. But these factors could weigh heavy on whether or not New York grab a win or loss at home.

Here are three keys to the Jets pulling out a victory against the Patriots:

Keep stepping up

New York Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood.

The Jets are likely to have multiple players on defense missing in their home opener. Pass rusher Jermaine Johnson (Achilles) is out. Linebacker CJ Mosley (toe) is listed as questionable. Cornerbacks Michael Carter II (ankle) and DJ Reed (knee) will play but are not going to be 100 percent and others could rotate in.

Head coach Robert Saleh has to put his players in the best positions to make sure the defense doesn’t miss a beat. Specifically, the Jets need to slow down Patriots rushers Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson.

Give Aaron time

The Jets had one of their best offensive line performances in a long time against the Tennessee Titans during their 24-17 win last week. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers does not look like his Hall of Fame resume as of now, but if you give him time, he can clearly get the ball in the right places.

Establish the run

(Imagn)

The story of the 2024 Jets through two games are running backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen. Both of them performed well in their own right–And link this to the key above is factual as well.

If Hall and Allen keep rolling (the offensive line must continue to help here), it will keep the Patriots defense on their toes. That will allow Rodgers to get to ball out to the likes of Garrett Wilson & Co. at the playmaker positions. The Patriots won’t stand much of a chance if this happens.

Jets’ Aaron Rodgers on Braelon Allen: ‘He was running over people’

Jets’ Aaron Rodgers on Braelon Allen: ‘He was running over people’

In his very young NFL career, Braelon Allen is impressing the New York Jets locker room.

The Jets (1-1) got their first win of 2024 in big part to their rookie. Allen had two touchdowns and set a modern NFL benchmark.

At 20 years and 239 days old, Allen became the youngest touchdown scorer in league history.

While impressing, not everyone is surprised.

Head coach Robert Saleh said he knew what New York had in the fourth-round rookie.

“When we watched his tape from two years ago, we saw a guy that was very capable of running an NFL-style offense,” Saleh said via video conference. “For us, when we drafted him, we just knew that he was going to be a really good player.”

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers wasn’t quite as sold as much as Saleh right away. It just took a little dose of preseason football for the QB to be convinced, but make no mistake, Rodgers is now.

“He’s a smart kid, he knows this game, it’s not too big for him,” Rodgers said. “He was running over people, hittin the hole.”

Allen’s next chance to keep building his NFL momentum will be on Thursday in New York’s home opener against the New England Patriots in Week 3.

Jets’ Robert Saleh locker room speech post-Titans win

Robert Saleh shouted out everyone and individuals following his team’s first win of the 2024 NFL season.

The Jets York Jets (1-1) picked up their first victory of the year in Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans (0-2) in a 24-17 final.

Saleh called it a “great” team win, but he had to note a few specific players when he broke down the win in the locker room after the final whistle. Naturally, those two were pass rusher Will McDonald IV and running back Braelon Allen.

Saleh’s full team address can be found in the clip below:
