LSU’s recruiting staff traveled to McKinney, Texas, to offer one of the best linebackers in the 2025 recruiting class.

[autotag]Riley Pettijohn[/autotag] is a 6-foot-3, 205-pound, four-star linebacker from McKinney, Texas, where he plays for McKinney High School. The McKinney Lions finished the 2022 season 8-5 with a loss to Southlake Carroll in the third round of the 6A D2 state playoffs.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Pettijohn at this time, but SMU is a 25% favorite to land him per On3.

Film Analysis: Pettijohn stars as an edge rusher from his outside linebacker spot. He is too quick for most offensive tackles to block him and he is very disruptive in the backfield.

Oklahoma offers consensus 2025 four-star linebacker Riley Pettijohn

Oklahoma extended an offer to consensus four-star 2025 linebacker Riley Pettijohn out of McKinney, Texas.

Oklahoma’s linebacker room would be a strength if you rated the position groups in Norman right now. There’s talent, youth, a mix of veteran leadership, and depth. As the Sooners count down the days to summer practice, Oklahoma will see two of their three linebacker signees from the class of 2023 join them on campus for the first time.

The pursuit for linebackers in 2024 is much murkier as Oklahoma currently has none committed and doesn’t appear close to a commitment from one anytime soon. However, that hasn’t stopped the Sooners from attacking the class of 2025. Most recently, OU offered four-star linebacker Riley Pettijohn.

Pettijohn, an uber-talented player, is the son of former two-time All-Big East defensive lineman Duke Pettijohn who went to Syracuse. The younger Pettijohn stands 6-foot-2 and weighs around 205 pounds. He’s a talented player and showcases range, speed, physicality, and the diagnosing abilities needed to be a primetime player for a Power Five program.

Oklahoma joined the mix with an offer, but Pettijohn’s offer sheet is long and features many Power Five programs.

Texas A&M offers 4-Star 2025 LB Riley Pettijohn

Texas A&M is ahead of schedule on the recruiting front, fielding an offer to rising 2025 linebacker, Riley Pettijohn

The Aggies have struggled on the recruiting trail in terms of landing top prospects at the linebacker position, recently losing out to five-star Anthony Hill after the future star de-committed from the program before switching over to the dark side (kidding) and committing to Texas in December.

The Aggies tried to mend the recruiting faux pa with 2023 3-star linebacker commitments in Taurean York and Chantz Johnson, but even though most of the 2023 roster is loaded at nearly every position, the linebacker spot outside of Edgerrin Cooper and Chris Russell Jr., attrition could set in late in the season.

So, looking towards the future, head coach Jimbo Fisher has sent out an offer to rising 2025 linebacker Riley Pettijohn on Thursday, who according to 247Sports has received offers from the likes of USC, Arkansas, Tennessee, and Michigan along with Texas A&M. Standing at 6-2, and 205 lbs, Pettijohn has been used as a primary pass rusher off the edge while showing fluidity great tackling ability in coverage. Due to his height and said coverage ability, Pettijohn has been projected as a safety at the next level as well.

Good, luck to Riley Pettijohn during the early part of his recruiting journey!
