Richmond at Dayton odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Richmond at Dayton odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Richmond Spiders (11-10, 4-4 A-10) visit the Dayton Flyers (13-8, 5-3) in an Atlantic-10 Saturday matinee. The contest at UD Arena will begin at 4 p.m. ET (CBS Sports Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Richmond vs. Dayton odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Richmond is 1-3 straight up (SU) and 0-4 against the spread (ATS) across its last 4 games. The Spiders’ are off back-to-back double-digit ATS losses. Like their hosts Saturday, the Spiders play a slow-tempo style, but unlike UD, they struggle in efficiency at both ends. Richmond has scored fewer than 65 points in 4 of its last 5 games.

The Flyers are also 1-3 SU and 0-4 ATS over their last 4. A vaunted Dayton defense has allowed a 44.9% mark from the floor over that spell. The Flyers and Spiders split a pair of regular-season games last season; UD lost 68-64 at home on March 12 as a 2.5-point favorite.

Against the spread

Dayton is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings in this series. Look for a return to form for the Flyers in this game on home hardwood, but that better form is not always conducive to double-digit margins on scoreboards.

PASS.

Over/Under

The Under is 4-0 in the Flyers’ last 4 home games and is the strongest play in this match-up.

Look for these turtle-tempo A-10 foes to engage in a battle where the shot clock gets noticed every third possession. Some UD edges in second-chance and free-throw points get filed down by expectations for Richmond in those areas.

TAKE THE UNDER 129.5 (-115).

March Madness: Richmond vs. Providence odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Richmond vs. Providence odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions, best bets.

The No. 12 seed Richmond Spiders (24-12) and No. 4 seed Providence Friars (26-5) meet Saturday for a Midwest Region second-round game of the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y., is scheduled for 6:10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Richmond vs. Providence odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Spiders picked up a 67-63 win as 9.5-point underdogs over the Big Ten Tournament champion Iowa Hawkeyes in their opening game as the Under cashed. UR has covered four consecutive games the Under has hit in its last two outings.

The Friars ended up with a 66-57 win over South Dakota State, fending off the 30-win Jackrabbits in their opener. Providence snapped an 0-2 ATS mini skid in the process.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 133.5 (O: -115 | U: -107)

Richmond vs. Providence odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Providence 67, Richmond 61

Money line

PROVIDENCE (-160) won the Big East regular-season title, but the books continue to give it little respect. The Friars beat South Dakota State in a low-scoring opening-round win, but the books still don’t trust Providence. Take advantage of the reasonable price.

Against the spread

PROVIDENCE -2.5 (-120) isn’t going to be headed home.

It catches a break facing the 12th seed, rather than meeting the Big Ten tournament champs from Iowa. It’s uncertain why the books continue to disrespect Providence, a team that is 4-1 ATS in its last five against winning teams. Maybe it’s because Richmond is on a heater, but the body of overall work for the Friars is way more impressive.

Over/Under

The UNDER 133.5 (-107) is the way to go. The trends point to the Under, as both teams have had low-scoring affairs lately.

The Under is 5-0 in the past five NCAA Tournament games for Providence and, more importantly, is 5-1 in its last six neutral-site games.

The Under is 13-4-1 in the past 18 games overall for Richmond while going 3-0-1 in its past four NCAA Tournament battles — including its first-round win.

March Madness: Richmond vs. Iowa odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Richmond vs. Iowa odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions, best bets.

The No. 12 seed Richmond Spiders (23-12) and No. 5 seed Iowa Hawkeyes (26-9) meet Thursday for a Midwest Region first-round game of the NCAA Tournament. Tip-off from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, N.Y., is scheduled for 3:10 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Richmond vs. Iowa odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Spiders of Richmond burst a bubble by claiming the at-large bid in the Atlantic 10 Tournament as they upended Davidson 64-62. Richmond closed out the regular season with just three wins in the final seven games but rattled off wins over URI, VCU, Dayton and Davidson over four days to go dancing.

The Hawkeyes of Iowa did a little net cutting of their own as they captured the Big Ten Tournament with a 75-66 victory over Purdue. Iowa has picked up wins in nine of its last 10 games while going 8-2 ATS during the impressive stretch.

Richmond vs. Iowa odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 78, Richmond 65

Money line

Iowa (-650) will cost you six and a half times your potential return, and that’s just not worth the risk. The Big Ten champs are going to advance here, so there is no sense getting crazy and playing Richmond — that would be throwing money away.

PASS.

Against the spread

Playing the HAWKEYES -10.5 (-107) is worth the risk. The Hawkeyes don’t clown around when it comes to games they should win. Iowa is 7-1 ATS in the past eight games when favored by double digits and 9-3 ATS overall in that situation this season.

Richmond will be playing its fourth game in the last seven days with plenty of travel. The Spiders did well to get to Buffalo, but now it’s time for Iowa to squash them and advance.

Over/Under

The UNDER 150.5 (-112) might be the best play on the board in this game.

The Under is an impressive 12-4-1 in the past 17 games overall for UR. While you might see the trend that Iowa has cashed the Over in seven straight NCAA Tournament games, how exactly does that apply to this current bunch of players who played in few or none of those games?

Iowa closed the regular season on a 5-1 Under run, although it forgot how to play D in the league tourney with 74 or more points allowed in three of four games. Look for a slower start as nerves will be a factor in the matinee game.

Richmond at St. Louis odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Richmond at St. Louis odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Richmond Spiders (13-5 overall, 6-3 A10) visit the St. Louis Billikens (11-5, 4-4) in a Friday evening (7 p.m. ET) contest at Chaifetz Arena. Below, we analyze the Richmond-St. Louis odds and lines, with NCAA college basketball picks and predictions.

Richmond at St. Louis: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 6:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Richmond +165 (bet $100 to win $165) | St. Louis -200 (bet $200 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Richmond +4.5 (-110) | St. Louis -4.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 143.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Richmond at St. Louis: Three things to know

  1. Richmond has won four of its last five games. The Spiders have shot lights-out in the wins; they shot just 32.8% from the floor in a Feb. 17 loss at VCU. Richmond shot over 50% in three of those four recent victories. For the season, UR’s 48.2% mark leads the Atlantic-10.
  2. St. Louis started the season with six straight wins, but the Billikens are just 5-5 in 10 games since. Distance shooting and turnovers have been issues for SLU of late. In their last two games — losses at Dayton and VCU — St. Louis has shot just 25.5% from 3-point range while posting a combined minus-13 in turnover margin.
  3. SLU is the A10’s best rebounding team. The Billikens have out-boarded foes in five of their last six games. In percentage analytics, St. Louis ranks in the top-20 nationally at both ends of the floor. Six-foot-3 G Jordan Goodwin is averaging  league-best 10.5 rebounds per game.

Richmond at St. Louis: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

St. Louis 76, Richmond 72

Money line (ML)

The Spiders’ last road game was a clunker in which they shot just 35.2% from the field. That mark is an outlier for a good shooting team, a better shooting team than the SLU foe they’ll face Friday night. And UR figures to win the turnover battle at both ends, avoiding their own while creating Billiken miscues.

Richmond is the lean, but PASS on the listed price.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Richmond is 5-1 ATS in its last half-dozen games on the road. The road team is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings between the Spiders and Billikens.

RICHMOND +4.5 (-110) is the play, but consider holding out for a larger cushion. Spiders +5 or 5 1/2 would be a desired entry point into this play.

Over/Under (O/U)

Both sides bring Over trends when playing in quality-on-quality contests. And that’s the value play here in what figures as a one-possession game that spirals close to a total in the high-140s.

BACK THE OVER 143.5 (-110).

Hofstra at Richmond odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Hofstra Pride at Richmond Spiders sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Hofstra Pride (3-3) visit the Richmond Spiders (6-1) in a Tuesday matinee tipping off at 2 p.m. ET at Robins Center. Below, we analyze the Hofstra-Richmond college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Hofstra at Richmond: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 9:45 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Hofstra +625 (bet $100 to win $625) | Richmond -1000 (bet $1,000 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Hofstra +13.5 (-130) | Richmond -13.5 (+105)
  • Over/Under: 150.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Hofstra at Richmond: Three things to know

  1. Richmond has been dialed in over its last two games. The Spiders have shot a combined 55.5% from the floor — including a 44.4% mark from 3-point distance — over their last two games. Senior G Blake Francis scored a total of 48 points in the two contests (wins over Vanderbilt and Loyola Chicago). Francis is averaging 16.4 points per game on the season.
  2. Hofstra is coming off a Saturday loss at St. Bonaventure. The Pride were minus-10 in the rebounding margin in what was a 77-69 setback. Hofstra has been out-boarded by double digits in each of its three losses.
  3. Head coach Chris Mooney‘s Richmond squad has gone 16-2 over its last 18 games at home. Since 2018, the Spiders are 8-6-1 against the spread in November-December games on their home hardwood. Three-point shooting is one facet of the Spiders’ game perhaps most impacted at home. Last season, UR shot 32.3% from beyond the arc in away and neutral-site games vs. 39.6% at home. This season, the Spiders’ accuracy marks are 31.4% and 41%, respectively.

Hofstra at Richmond: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Richmond 84, Hofstra 69

Money line (ML)

PASS; look for more value in the ATS and O/U departments.

Against the spread (ATS)

Hofstra is coming off back-to-back ATS wins but is playing its third straight game away from home. Richmond is 6-1 ATS over its last seven at home.

The Spiders offense looks to be improved. Winning margins the last two games were dinged by late fades. The line is a big one, but THE LEAN IS ON RICHMOND -13.5 (+105) in what figures as a relatively high-scoring affair.

Over/Under (O/U)

Richmond’s offensive uptick is somewhat masked by early-season possession numbers. The Over is 4-2 in the Spiders’ first half-dozen games.

Both teams tend to get to the line quite a bit, and that can run up the score without clock time ticking by. Look for host Richmond to want to extend-and-maintain after letting leads slip in recent games.

TAKE THE OVER 150.5 (-110).

Richmond at West Virginia odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Richmond Spiders at West Virginia Mountaineers sports betting odds and lines, with college basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Richmond Spiders (4-0) visit Morgantown, W. Va., to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers (5-1) Sunday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. ET at WVU Coliseum. Below, we analyze the Richmond-West Virginia college basketball betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

West Virginia is No. 10 in the Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports. Richmond is 19th.

Richmond at West Virginia: Three things to know

  1. West Virginia’s only loss this season was against No. 1-ranked Gonzaga (Dec. 2). WVU has bounced back with two wins; the most recent of those was a 62-50 triumph over North Texas Friday afternoon.
  2.  The Spiders are ranked in the top-25 for the first time since 2010. Dating back to last season, Richmond has won eight straight games. That stretch includes a win against then-No. 9 Kentucky at Rupp Arena Nov. 29.
  3.  Richmond is loaded with returning veteran talent from a 24-7 team a year ago and is adept at protecting the basketball. G Blake Francis and G Jacob Gilyard — both seniors — have combined to crank out 37 assists against just 12 turnovers through the team’s first four games.

Richmond at West Virginia: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

West Virginia 73, Richmond 69

Money line (ML)

A veteran Richmond side is the lean, but pricing nixes an ML effort. Something in the +350 range would bring some value into the equation.

Against the spread (ATS)

The process underpinning West Virginia’s victories against Western Kentucky, Georgetown, and North Texas leave some doubt as to how the Mountaineers will control this one into a 3-score cushion. The antidote to WVU’s high-pressure (“Press Virginia”) defense is a cohesive, veteran rotation, and Richmond figures to bring that to the floor. At least enough so to manage a game closer to level or a 4-to-5-point deficit.

The Spiders have had a couple of days of rest on what could well be a fatigued Mountaineer five which has played a competitive schedule with a decent amount of travel so far.

BACK RICHMOND +7.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

This game spells a lot of balance, on both sides, and with types of offense and pace. The figure here makes for a slight LEAN ON THE UNDER 148 (-110). Tread lightly, as its a well-made number.
