Richard Roby now the elder statesmen for Team Colorado

Richard Roby is back in the black and gold with Team Colorado

A lot of things in life can remind you of your age. Be it the next generation getting older or a player from your years at the University of Colorado referring to himself as a bridge player for younger guys on the team.

Richard Roby joined the Buffs men’s basketball team in 2004, one year before I started attending the university. During his time at Colorado, Roby becomes a dynamic scorer, eventually breaking the program’s all-time scoring mark, which Cory Higgins would tie soon after.

Roby is back wearing the black and gold, this time with Team Colorado in its return to The Basketball Tournament. I asked him about his previous experience in TBT and what this time around will look like for him:

“This is my fourth time playing. We had the first three years with the older group.” Roby said. “Now, the younger guys want to do it and so I’m just kind of here to be able to help, but it’s about them. It’s not about me. It’s about helping to bridge the gap. I’ll give what I can, but I’m really excited to watch the young guys take over.”

Colorado men’s basketball all-time roster: Honorable mentions

Our look back at Colorado’s all-time greats continues

We recently released our picks for the best players to ever suit up for the Colorado Buffaloes men’s basketball program. The players and coaches named to the starters and bench units were the best of the best, their names dotted most every page of the record book for the school.

After researching over 120 years of basketball history and countless names, I can say without a doubt that it’s very hard to limit that history to 13 names. Who were the near misses? Which players just missed the cut?

Now, we present the Buffs who needed to have their names mentioned alongside CU’s all-time greats. Here are our honorable mention picks:
