LOOK: Legendary Mahomes mentor Alex Smith visits Chiefs training camp

Legendary QB Alex Smith is visiting #Chiefs training camp on Tuesday, paying a visit to his former teammates Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs have football royalty in attendance at their training camp practice this morning.

Former No. 1 overall pick and Chiefs legend Alex Smith was seen walking to the field with his former teammate Travis Kelce in St. Joseph and is set to observe drills beside Andy Reid, who helped revive his career in Kansas City between 2013 and 2017.

Smith, who is widely credited with having had an influential role in the early development of Patrick Mahomes, was a key part of Reid’s rebuild of the Chiefs in the mid-2010s, leading Kansas City to a 50-26 record in five years as a starter.

Check out this picture of Smith walking with Kelce to the practice field on Tuesday morning, which was posted by FOX 4 Sports Anchor Harold R. Kuntz on Twitter:

The Chiefs already had a high-profile visitor at Missouri Western State University last week when disgraced Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden sat in on practices before Kansas City’s first preseason game.

Stay tuned to see if Smith’s time at Chiefs training camp is a one-day affair or a week-long reunion.

Report: There is a ‘strong possibility’ that Browns might win DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes

According to one report, there is a “strong possibility” that the #Browns might be frontrunners to sign star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins

After playing with Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson during his time with the Houston Texans, All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is reportedly interested in a reunion with the signal caller in the Sixth City.

News broke on Friday that there is a “strong possibility” that the Browns might sign Hopkins according to KPRC 2 Houston reporter Aaron Wilson.

Though fans may be quick to jump on the report as a good sign for Cleveland’s chances of signing the prolific receiver, no movement seems imminent at present, though smoke usually indicates the presence of some kind of fire in situations like this.

Hopkins would be an immediate upgrade to the top end of the Browns’ offensive roster, and his familiarity with Watson could prove to be a key selling point for Cleveland as they look to build their team into a playoff contender ahead of the 2023 season.

This report is by no means an indication that the team will sign the five-time Pro Bowler, but the prospect of adding such an elite talent should make the Browns’ faithful excited, even if only temporarily while Hopkins mulls his options.

Tom Pelissero: Richard Sherman is ‘open’ to returning to Seattle Seahawks

The “Good Morning Football” crew discusses the likelihood of CB Richard Sherman returning to the Seattle Seahawks.

Could a reunion be in the making between the Seattle Seahawks and cornerback Richard Sherman?

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero thinks there is a good chance this could actually happen.

“Here’s what I can tell you,” Pelissero began on Wednesday’s edition of Good Morning Football. “Richard Sherman is open to returning to Seattle. I believe the Seahawks would also be open to having Sherman back. This is not like Earl Thomas, where it was really acrimonious at the end.

“The issue is going to be the money.”

You can listen to all of Pelissero’s thoughts on the matter in the clip below.

The Beast is back: Seattle Seahawks sign running back Marshawn Lynch

Seattle Seahawks fans got an early Christmas present with the news the team has signed former superstar running back, Marshawn Lynch.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Seahawks fans, Seattle has officially signed running back Marshawn Lynch to the roster.

Lynch arrived in town for a visit and physical on Monday and coach Pete Carroll and the staff in the front office weren’t going to let him leave without a signed contract in hand.

The move, albeit a desperate one for Seattle, comes on the heels of the losses of both starter Chris Carson and backup running back C.J. Prosise, who suffered season-ending injuries in the Seahawks’ Week-16 loss to the Cardinals. Carson is now out for the year with a hip fracture, Prosise with a broken arm.

The Seahawks followed up with the most prudent move possible, re-signing superstar Lynch just in time for the team’s battle against the 49ers for the Week 17 showdown. No other bruising back in the league could give Seattle the boost it needs to win the division Sunday night.

Although Lynch might be over a year removed from a football field, there’s no one else Seattle fans would rather see on the field in the prime-time matchup.

Lynch and the Seahawks are set to square off against San Francisco on Dec. 29 at 5:20 p.m. PT.

Marshawn Lynch en route to Seattle to visit with Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are in desperate need of a running back and will be hosting former superstar Marshawn Lynch for a visit on Monday.

The Seattle Seahawks are in desperate need of a running back after losing three this season to injuries. Rashaad Penny first tore his ACL, then Chris Carson and C.J. Prosise left the game Week 16 and are both likely done for the year.

With arguably the biggest matchup of the regular season less than a week away, Seattle will have to make a couple of roster moves to shore up the position and assist rookie Travis Homer, the lone healthy running back on the active squad.

The Seahawks will likely host a number of players on tryouts, but no name stands out more than former superstar, Marshawn Lynch, who just may be open to a reunion in Seattle.

Coach Pete Carroll was asked about the potential visit during his Monday morning radio show on 710 ESPN Seattle and confirmed what every fan has been hoping for.

“He’ll be flying in here this morning and we’re going to give him a really good chance to come back and play for us,” Carroll said. “I’m fired up for it. He’s got some hoops he’s got to jump through here – physical and stuff like that – but he’s been working really hard. He’s really excited about the chance to do something and help out. I think it’s frickin great.”

Lynch isn’t the only former Seahawks running back who could rejoin the squad. Robert Turbin could also make a return to Seattle.
