Wisconsin has significant competition for transfer DL Jay’Viar Suggs

Wisconsin has significant competition for transfer DL Jay’Viar Suggs

Wisconsin is one of several programs currently in pursuit of former Grand Valley State defensive lineman Jay’Viar Suggs.

The Badgers offered him on April 26 and recently had him on campus for an official visit.

Wisconsin is just one of Suggs’ five scheduled transfer visits. He will also visit Florida State, Arkansas, Kentucky and Michigan State — all formidable programs and significant competition.

The veteran defensive lineman entered the portal after totaling 14.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks over the last two seasons as a starter for Grand Valley State. He has two years of eligibility remaining and is currently ranked by On3 as only a three-star transfer.

He is likely undervalued by recruiting services due to playing at a D-II school. But the level of interest signals an impact player, or one that plays a position that every team in the nation needs help at.

Wisconsin outside linebackers coach Matt Mitchell and cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean both came from Grand Valley State, establishing a relationship that could help the Badgers earn a commitment.

For now, Luke Fickell and his program stand pat as Suggs visits the Spartans.

Armando Bacot reveals he nearly had Anthony Edwards playing at UNC

UNC basketball center Armando Bacot reveals he nearly had Anthony Edwards playing for the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill.

When it comes to recruiting, not many people have done it like UNC basketball star [autotag]Armando Bacot[/autotag], who revealed he nearly had Anthony Edwards lacing up in Carolina blue threads.

On Monday, Bacot revealed on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) that he nearly had Edwards playing in Chapel Hill. Edwards was a 5-star recruit who ended up going 1st overall in the 2020 draft after one season with Georgia.

The statement came in as a response to retired NFL QB turned sports analyst Dan Orlovsky, who asked how the NBA star ended up at Georgia.

As of now, we are not sure if this is Bacot trolling or giving a behind-the-scenes story that could’ve changed the landscape of North Carolina basketball. However, UNC was one of Edwards eight finalist when he was choosing his college home.

Edwards averaged 19.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in the lone year played at Georgia. He was efficient and had a significant impact on defense, earning him SEC Rookie of the Year.

Imagine Edwards in a lineup next to Cole Anthony and the damage that backcourt could’ve done.

Charlotte transfer commits to Tennessee basketball

Charlotte transfer commits to Rick Barnes and Tennessee basketball.

Charlotte transfer center Igor Milicic Jr. signed with Tennessee on Monday, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

He committed to Tennessee over Nebraska and Baylor.

Milicic Jr. committed to Virginia on June 1, 2021. He transferred to Charlotte on April 25, 2022, and entered the NCAA transfer portal on March 25.

Milicic Jr. is a four-star transfer ranked as the No. 208 overall player and No. 34 center.

The 6-foot-10, 224-pound center played at Orange Academy in Weißenhorn, Germany. He is originally from Croatia.

Milicic Jr. averaged 8.5 points, 0.9 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. He earned third-team All-America AAC honors.

Tennessee has one commitment in its 2024 recruiting class. Bishop Boswell, a combo guard, signed with the Vols on Nov. 8, 2023. Milicic Jr. joins forward Felix Okpara and guard Darlinstone Dubar as transfer portal additions for Tennessee during the offseason.

Wisconsin hosts top transfer portal SG Camren Hunter on official visit

A big development for the Badgers:

Wisconsin basketball hosted top transfer shooting guard Camren Hunter on an official visit on Friday.

The former Central Arkansas star posted pictures of the visit on Instagram, including of him in a No. 11 Wisconsin jersey.

Hunter averaged 16.9 points, 5 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.5 steals on 42% shooting and 31% from 3 as a sophomore in 2022-23. He did not play last season. The shooting guard is listed as a four-star transfer by 247Sports, specifically ranked as the No. 165 overall transfer and No. 28 shooting guard.

Wisconsin was late to pursue the top transfer. He entered the portal on March 7, and quickly received heavy interest from programs including St. Louis, Butler, West Virginia and Florida State.

The Badgers are making a strong late push — which could have some real weight given his visit.

Wisconsin Badgers freshman cornerback enters transfer portal

Another Wisconsin defender enters the transfer portal:

Wisconsin freshman cornerback A.J. Tisdell entered the transfer portal on Friday.

The young corner was a three-star recruit in the program’s class of 2023 and redshirted during his first collegiate season.

Related: Wisconsin football 2024 spring transfer portal window tracker

Tisdell was 247Sports’ No. 796 player in the class of 2023, No. 81 cornerback and No. 124 recruit from his home state of Texas. He initially committed to Paul Chryst’s Wisconsin program in June of 2022 and stayed on once Luke Fickell got the job later that year.

RivalsPortal on X noted that Tisdell recorded 61 tackles and one interception on defense, plus nearly 300 receiving yards on offense in 2022. It should be noted those numbers were from his senior season at College Station High School.

Wisconsin’s coaching staff has prioritized the cornerback position since taking over at the end of the 2022 season. That emphasis has seen several transfers enter, plus a few highly-touted high school recruits. The cornerback room got busy in a hurry, which could’ve led to Tisdell’s departure.

Wisconsin football offers an experienced transfer defensive lineman

Wisconsin football offers an experienced transfer defensive lineman

Wisconsin football offered transfer defensive lineman Jay’Viar Suggs on Friday.

Suggs entered the transfer portal on April 22 after four years at D-II Grand Valley State — where current Wisconsin outside linebackers coach and special teams coordinator Matt Mitchell was head coach for 13 years.

Related: Wisconsin football 2024 spring transfer portal window tracker

The veteran defensive lineman recorded a combined 14.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks over the last two seasons as a starter for the Lakers. He has two years of eligibility remaining, and is currently ranked by On3 as a three-star transfer, the No. 1616 player in the transfer portal and the No. 158 transfer defensive lineman.

Suggs has also received transfer offers from programs including Nebraska, Iowa, TCU, Louisville, Arkansas, Kansas State, Indiana and Houston.

Defensive line is arguably the thinnest position on the 2024 Wisconsin Badgers. Suggs would be a necessary addition to the position group, and already has a pre-established relationship with Mitchell. He would be a significant addition as the spring portal window continues.

Wisconsin football junior defensive end enters transfer portal

A fifth Wisconsin Badger entered the transfer portal on Thursday:

Wisconsin junior defensive end Mike Jarvis entered the transfer portal on Thursday, according to 247Sports’ Evan Flood.

Jarvis was a three-star defensive lineman in Wisconsin’s decorated class of 2021. He redshirted his freshman season in Madison before not seeing any game action in 2022 or 2023.

Related: Wisconsin football 2024 spring transfer portal window tracker

He becomes the fifth Badger to enter the transfer portal since the spring window began on April 16, joining QB Nick Evers, DL T.J. Bollers, DL Gabe Kirschke and WR Tommy McIntosh.

The Medford, New Jersey native leaves a Wisconsin defensive line room that is razor-thin entering the 2024 season. James Thompson Jr., Curt Neal, Ben Barten return as contributors, with transfer Elijah Hills bringing valuable experience from the transfer portal.

The Badgers need an addition or two in the room before the season begins.

BREAKING: Wisconsin lands commitment from 2025 OT Cam Clark

Wisconsin adds another class of 2025 commitment

Wisconsin football landed a commitment from class of 2025 offensive tackle Cam Clark on Thursday.

Clark is a three-star on 247Sports.com, ranked specifically as the No. 77 offensive tackle in the class and No. 24 recruit from his home state of Michigan.

Related: Wisconsin football 2024 spring transfer portal window tracker

Wisconsin edges Kentucky to earn Clark’s commitment. Other programs on his offer sheet include Army, Kansas, Minnesota, Cincinnati, West Virginia and Duke.

Of note, the offensive tackle does have a visit to Kentucky scheduled on June 14.

Clark is the ninth commitment in Luke Fickell’s class of 2025 and second offensive tackle — joining three-star Michael Roeske. The group ranked No. 21 in the nation before his addition, so expect that ranking to rise with the group back up to nine players.

Wisconsin basketball in pursuit of a former All-CUSA transfer guard

Wisconsin basketball in pursuit of a former All-CUSA transfer guard

Wisconsin basketball is in pursuit of former Jacksonville State transfer guard KyKy Tandy, according to On3’s Jamie Shaw.

Tandy entered the portal on April 24 and has already received a ton of high-level interest, including from Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Auburn, West Virginia and St. John’s.

Related: An updated list of Wisconsin basketball’s transfer portal targets

The graduate transfer averaged 17.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.1 steals on 42% shooting and 39% from three in 2023-24. The former top-100 recruit played four seasons at Xavier from 2019-2023, finally broke out in his first graduate transfer season at Jacksonville State last season, and is now set for a final year of eligibility.

Wisconsin is in need of stellar guard play after Chucky Hepburn and A.J. Storr’s departures. Tandy is a new entrant into the portal, and could fill one of the Badgers’ massive backcourt voids.

Wisconsin has not had any success in the transfer portal thus far this offseason. For more on the program’s current pursuits, here is an updated list.

Wisconsin Badgers sophomore wide receiver enters transfer portal

Wisconsin Badgers sophomore wide receiver enters transfer portal

Wisconsin sophomore wide receiver Tommy McIntosh entered the transfer portal on Thursday.

McIntosh was a three-star commit in Wisconsin’s class of 2022 — the last class of the Paul Chryst era at the program.

Related: Wisconsin football 2024 spring transfer portal window tracker

The Michigan native did not see the field during his first two collegiate seasons. He was one of the early standouts of last year’s spring practice session, though had slid down the depth chart entering this spring.

Wisconsin’s wide receiver room is loaded after Luke Fickell’s work in the transfer portal over the last two offseasons. The group is led by transfers Will Pauling, Bryson Green and C.J. Williams — with other former transfers Quincy Burroughs, Tyrell Henry close behind.

McIntosh brings impressive size to the table at 6’5,” which should help him garner interest from other programs.
