Los Angeles FC’s duo of F Diego Rossi and F Carlos Vela are back in action. Vela won’t be playing for Mexico, so he should be back in full form.

LAFC beat FC Dallas but then lost to Sporting KC after taking a 1-0 lead and getting a red card prior to Sporting putting two in the back of the net. LAFC is 1-1-1 across its last three games.

As for Real Salt Lake, it’s 2-1-3 at home this season and has scored 14 goals while letting in 11 through nine games overall.

Prediction

Los Angeles FC 2, Real Salt Lake 1

Money line (ML)

BET on LAFC (+110) as Vela’s continued return to full strength will be a huge factor. He’s arguably the best player in MLS, especially with Josef Martinez sidelined for Atlanta United.

Vela had 34 goals in 31 starts in 2019 and Rossi led the league in goals last season. This duo hasn’t had much time together on the pitch, and they should be able to work some magic.

Salt Lake F Damir Kreilach has 5 goals on the season, but I think LAFC starts to show its dominance Saturday. It’ll need it too, currently sitting 10th in the Western Conference.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET OVER 2.5 (-170) as LAFC is bringing back a dynamic duo and Kreilach will look to also be a force.

Both teams topped the total and 3 combined goals in three of their last five matches. The Over feels like the better play as the scoring should rain in.

Both teams average over a goal per game, and when Vela is healthy, LAFC is far more lethal in the final third. His pace just adds a new dimension. This should be at least a 2-1 match.

Prediction

Sounders 3, Real Salt Lake 1

Money line (ML)

BET on the SOUNDERS (-165) because, quite frankly, they’ve just been better than any other team in MLS. They’ve handled business against both mid-tier, low-tier and top-tier teams.

Seattle, behind F Raul Ruidiaz‘s MLS-leading 7 goals, has the second-most goals in MLS. It has also, by far, given up the fewest with just 4 goals allowed through nine games.

RSL is a solid opponent. It is tied for the sixth-most goals in MLS and has given up just 8 through seven games. However, it just won’t be enough against a talented Sounders team.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the OVER 2.5 (-135) because both teams are scoring machines. In a combined 16 matches, the two teams have managed 28 goals.

While they’ve given up just 12, that’s more on Seattle’s dominance. Both teams are clinical at finishing in the attacking third as the Sounders and RSL are tied for first and eighth, respectively, in goals within 18 yards.

They are also both within the top four in assists in MLS. Combine that with both teams hitting the Over in their last games, and the value is on the Over Wednesday.

RSL topped the projected total in five of seven games, and Seattle has hit it in four of nine.

In both teams’ first game after the international break, Real Salt Lake (2 wins, 1 loss, 3 draws) will host the Vancouver Whitecaps FC (2-4-1) Friday. While the international break was long for some teams it was especially long for the Whitecaps, who will be playing their first game since May 22. Vancouver has lost all confidence offensively, scoring just once during a three-game losing streak.

The opposite can be said of Real Salt Lake who is averaging a goal per game in their last three.

Against weaker competition they’ve managed three straight draws, picking up ties against the bottom two teams in the Western Conference their last two times out. This is a game they need to come out and get three points in.

PASS on the money because neither of these teams has shown enough to be confident in.

Real Salt Lake is at home, and they’re the favorite. But, they’ve tied two straight games against the worst teams in the West and are averaging more points per game on the road than at home.

They will have the more dangerous attacker on the field with F Rubio Rubín, whose four goals are currently tied for the fifth-most in the league. However, Whitecaps F Cristian Dájome is just one behind him, so the one-man offense may be in full effect for each squad as the duo accounts for 7 of 15 of the team’s combined goals this season.

With more ties than wins at home for RSL, I think that while we see a little action from both sides neither will pull away. At the current values, this is a PASS on the money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

BET the UNDER 2.5 (-120) because neither of the teams is the most lethal offensively, and this could be a slow, grind-it-out type game. With both teams potentially being rusty after over two weeks of the international break this could easily end 0-0 or 1-0.

Vancouver has been shut out in 3 of their last 5 games. Knowing that, the Under 2.5 has a solid value. Vancouver ranks 11th while RSL ranks 12th in save percentage as well, so the goalies have been above average so far this season.

RSL does have 3 multi-goal games on the year, so their offensive could come alive. However, coming off a break and taking on a team that ranks in the top-five in duel percentage, I’d stack the odds against them putting two in the net.

Real Salt Lake 3, L.A. Galaxy 2

Money line (ML)

These are a pair of two poor teams near the bottom of the table in the Western Conference. However, each side still has playoff aspirations, which might only be realistic for REAL SALT LAKE (+230), however. RLS is  playing a little better lately, too, playing to a scoreless draw against FC Dallas last time out on Oct. 25, and easing by the Portland Timbers 2-1 on Oct. 15.

Conversely, the L.A. Galaxy (+105) were paddled 5-2 by Portland in their most recent match on Oct. 29, and they have dropped four of their past five, getting outscored 17-6 during the span. The Galaxy are in a tailspin, and there is very little reason to believe another implosion isn’t on deck. RSL (+230) is a great value here.

New to sports betting? A winning $10 bet on Real Salt Lake returns $23, while a winning $10 bet on L.A. Galaxy fetches a profit of $10.50. A $10 bet on a draw (+290) returns a profit of $29.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 2.5 (-182) is a nice value play, while the alternate line of Over 3.5 (+135) is also worth a wager. There should be plenty of offense in a back-and-forth match. We have seen a total of three goals in four of the past five head-to-head matches in this series. I’d even play the alternate line of Over 4.5 (+290) rather lightly, as you can nearly triple up if we see an onslaught of goals.
