NFL Week 12 picks: Who are experts taking in Rams vs. Eagles?

See who experts are taking in Sunday night’s Rams-Eagles battle at SoFi Stadium

Every game is important for the 5-5 Los Angeles Rams the rest of the way, but Sunday night’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles is particularly critical. It’s one of the Rams’ biggest tests of the season, going up against an 8-2 team that has legitimate Super Bowl aspirations.

The Rams come into this game as 3-point underdogs, the seventh time this year they’re getting points from their opponent on the spread. The Eagles, meanwhile, have been favorites in eight of their 10 games this season.

We know the oddsmakers are favoring the Eagles, but who are experts taking to win? According to Tallysight, 76% of experts are picking the Eagles to win outright and 75% are taking them to cover the spread.

With the over/under set at 49 points, only 45% are taking the over.

The Rams have been doubted throughout the year, especially against better teams. But they’re not a group to be counted out. They beat the 49ers earlier in the year and also pulled off an upset against the Vikings, two statement wins on their resume thus far.

If they can beat the Eagles, it’ll send a message to the rest of the league that they could be a playoff contender and a dangerous opponent down the stretch.

Browns vs. Bengals flexed out of Thursday Night Football in Week 16

The Browns and Bengals have been kicked out of the Week 16 primetime slot

The Cleveland Browns vs. Cincinnati Bengals matchup in Week 16 has officially been flexed out of their Thursday Night Football primetime slot.

The franchise’s social media team announced the schedule switch on Friday and that the teams will now face off on Sunday, December 22nd at 1:00 PM. This announcement comes the morning after the Cleveland Browns managed to beat the steamrolling Pittsburgh Steelers by a final score of 24-19.

The matchup that will replace the in-state rivalry on Thursday night is the Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers. After an impressive performance last night, many are curious about why the Browns would be flexed out.

The prediction is that the Chargers and Broncos will be fighting for a playoff spot by Week 16, possibly within their division. While the Browns and Bengals are always set to be a dogfight, both teams are projected to be out of the playoff race by the time this Thursday night matchup occurs.

This AFC North rivalry is set to be a good matchup no matter when it is scheduled.

With the Cardinals, as it is for all teams, it’s what up front that counts

The Cardinals are playing well on the offensive line and need that to continue, and they have tough questions to answer as starters get healthy.

With right tackle Jonah Williams activated by the Arizona Cardinals from injured reserve this week, there has been some added discussion about the role of the offensive line in the team’s success along with plans moving forward for Williams.

He has been out since suffering a knee injury on the final play of the first quarter in the season opener against the Bills, so it’s difficult to truly know how ready he is to play significant snaps after being out for more than two months.

Kelvin Beachum has played at a high level as his replacement, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Williams plays some snaps in Sunday’s game against the Seahawks. It would be a surprise if he starts.

When asked about how to get Williams back on the field, head coach Jonathan Gannon said earlier this week, “We kinda weigh all the variables and then decide what’s best for the team for that game. We’ll take it day by day. But the good thing is that a lot of different guys have played. A lot of different guys have played different spots and they’ve played with each other quite a bit now. So we’re just gonna make sure the communication’s on point, the operation’s on point and we keep playing at a high level. The offensive line is playing extremely well.”

As for Beachum, Gannon said, “Beach has played extremely well, he really has. And he did that for us last year, too. The veteran leadership. He’s a guy; he could be a captain. I use his brain a lot with different things. I ask him a lot of different things. He’s been all-in since he’s been here. He’s been fantastic, so very glad we have him.”

Offensive coordinator Drew Petzing said what Williams brings is “certainly similar to the rest of the room, in terms of what we ask. It’s physicality, it’s effort, it’s energy and understanding of look, we do a lot of different things and from a scheme standpoint, we put a lot on those guys mentally, which requires great communication. I think he really embodies them.”

Quarterback Kyler Murray realizes how important the line is to his and the team’s accomplishments.

“It’s a very versatile group,” Murray said. “I think they can be fun off the field (and) at the same time know when to turn it on. I think that’s a great thing about (an) O-line group is I say they’re the heart and soul of the team. At the same time, those dudes are the smartest and kind of the goofiest so it’s great to be around those dudes. You’ve got so many guys in that group, so there are a lot of different personalities, but I love going to work with those guys every single day.”

As for the group’s identity, Murray said, “I think hard-nosed football. They have to be the most physical group on the field at all times, and they know that. (Center) Hjalte (Froholdt) obviously being at the helm, one of my favorite players that I’ve ever played with. He does a great job of keeping those guys (together). (And) they all hold each other accountable. Like I said, I love going to war with them.”

What makes Froholdt so special?

“I love everything he’s about,” Murray said. “He’s a guy who (when he) was in Cleveland, I think he was a third-string guy that wasn’t really playing a lot but comes here, gets an opportunity, makes the most of it and gets rewarded. I’m with him every day. I think the quarterback-center relationship is a special one, and I love the guy.”

Gannon made sure to mention line coach Klayton Adams and his assistant Chris Cook in molding an effective unit.

“I think from an acquisition (stand)point we have the right players, and I think Klayton and Chris do a really good job with those guys,” Gannon said. “There are a lot of things that go into it, not just on the practice field, but behind the scenes, pre- and post-practice, different meetings where they’re developing those guys. Not just who’s ever 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (backups).

“Paris (Johnson Jr.) has taken a jump in the last month with a couple of things that he’s been working on with Klayton. Fro has taken a jump with a couple of things that he wanted to work on. All those guys. They’re invested in their game because they know that the best chance that we have to win a game is everybody, obviously collectively playing well, but individually playing well.

“They don’t want to let their team down, so they take it upon themselves to improve their game. It’s the players first, but I think the coaches are doing a good job with it too.”

Myles Garrett makes a statement after huge game vs. Steelers

“I’m number one.”

The Cleveland Browns defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football, and reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett played a huge role in why.

Racking up three sacks, a forced fumble, and a massive eight pressures in the win, Garrett was interviewed after the game. And during his interview, Garrett made a statement to the rest of the NFL: He’s the best defensive player in the NFL.

“I’m number one. That’s from EDGE1 to Defensive Player of the Year. I’m the guy. That runs through me. There is no other person being defended as I am, or schemed or planned against like I am. So that just goes to show, you can throw that out the window; I’m going to find a way.”

It’s hard to argue with Garrett, who now sits second in the NFL in sacks with 10 on the season. After winning the award a year ago, Garrett is coming on strong in the back half of the season to prove he deserves to repeat as the NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

Greg Newsome II takes shot at George Pickens following end-of-game scuffle

After the Browns beat the Steelers, George Pickens went after Greg Newsome II, and the cornerback made sure to make his thoughts known

The Cleveland Browns defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the game ended in fireworks as wide receiver George Pickens locked up with cornerback Greg Newsome II in the back of the end zone on the final play of the game.

With the Steelers throwing a hail mary as time expired with the Browns on top late, Pickens seemed more interested in the extracurriculars with Newsome than on attempting to make the catch and win the game. Far away from the play, Pickens can be seen throwing Newsome out of the back of the endzone.

Pickens would then go on to get into a scuffle with a fan along the back wall as well. The Browns cornerback let Pickens know just what he thinks of him as well after the game on social media:

The Browns and Steelers play again in just two short weeks, and it is sure to be a physical showdown once again.

Cardinals hoping this streak can end in Week 12

The Cardinals have not beaten the Seahawks in the last five meetings.

The Arizona Cardinals have played the Seattle Seahawks a lot. Dating back to 1976, they have faced each other 50 times. Only 6 of those came before divisional realignment in 2002. They have played each other 44 times since then, facing each other twice a year.

While the all-time series is fairly even (Seattle leads 27-22-1 all-time), it has been a while since the Cardinals picked up a ‘W’.

Seattle has won the last five meetings. The Cardinals have not beaten Seahawks since 2021. That five-game winning streak by the Seahawks in the all-time series is tied for the longest win streak by one of the two teams. The Cardinals won the first five-ever games against the Seahawks between 1976-1995.

Each team has also had a four-game winning streak against the other.

If the Cardinals win, the Seahawks’ win streak against them ends at five. They increase their lead over Seattle in the division to two games and eliminate the possibility of  Seattle owning a head-to-head tiebreaker against them at the end of the year.

How have the last five meetings with the Seahawks gone?

  • Jan 7, 2024: Seahawks 21, Cardinals 20 in Glendale
  • Oct. 23, 2023: Seahawks 20, Cardinals 10 in Seattle
  • Nov. 6, 2022: Seahawks 31, Cardinals 21 in Glendale
  • Oct. 16, 2022: Seahawks 19, Cardinals 9 in Seattle
  • Jan. 9, 2022: Seahawks 38, Cardinals 30 in Glendale

Auburn has reached out to No. 1 JUCO RB Waymond Jordan

Jordan rushed for 133 yards per game and 18 touchdowns for Hutchinson Community College this season.

Auburn football aims to enhance its offensive production next season by adding the nation’s top running back from the junior college level to its roster.

[autotag]Waymond Jordan Jr.[/autotag], a running back from Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas, tells On3’s Pete Nakos that several Power Four programs have contacted him, including Auburn. Jordan has heard from several Group of Five programs including Western Kentucky, Utah State, and North Texas. However, his recruitment has taken a turn as programs such as Auburn, Arizona State, UCF, and Duke have joined the mix.

The Pensacola, Florida native is gaining ground with major programs due to his season production at Hutchinson, a JUCO program known for developing its athletes to become key roster pieces at the next level. In 2024, Jordan rushed for 1,332 yards and 18 touchdowns while helping his squad earn a 9-1 record.

He elected to go the JUCO route out of high school after receiving little interest from Power programs during the 2022 recruiting cycle. According to 247Sports, Jordan earned offers from programs including UCF, USF, Jax State, and Missouri, but decided to refresh his recruitment by playing at the JUCO level for two seasons, a decision that has ultimately paid off.

This time, Jordan is the No. 21 overall JUCO recruit according to 247Sports and is considered the top running back from the class. He has scheduled official visits to UCF and USF and could add Auburn to his docket before he decides where the next step of his college journey will be.

Week 12 H-Bomb underdog pick vision is with a divisional matchup

Jess Root and Howard Balzer continue to pick one big underdog (6.5 points or more) to cover the spread in Week 12.

Jess Root made a bold move in Week 11 of the H-Bomb underdog pick of the week (games with spreads of at least 6.5 points), but it didn’t pay off.

We have been locked in a duel since the beginning of the season, but until this week I had never led. In 11 weeks of picks, we have been tied eight times and Jess led after Weeks 7 and 8.

It was his decision to drop the bomb on the 14-point favored Lions last week that dropped him one game behind after Detroit dropped its own 52-6 bomb on the Jaguars.

My pick of the Seahawks to cover the 6.5-point spread against the 49ers paid off, not only with the win but also adding another direct hit (outright win) to my ledger, which tied Jess in that column.

That turned out to be the only H-Bomb success of the week as favorites Miami over Las Vegas and Houston over Dallas joined Detroit in winning and covering the spread.

That 1-3 record reduced the overall mark to 30-14 for the season with 16 direct hits.

Here are the four eligible games this week:

  • Houston Texans -8 vs. Tennessee Titans
  • Miami Dolphins -7.5 vs. New England Patriots
  • Detroit Lions -7.5 vs. Indianapolis Colts
  • Kansas City Chiefs -11 at Carolina Panthers

With seven weeks remaining in the regular season, I could play dirty and simply pick the same game as Jess does since he gives me his pick before I write this riveting story each week. That would mean he couldn’t catch me. But, trust me, I wouldn’t do that purposely.

My H-Bomb history (I’ve been involved in a picks contest for close to 30 years) results in me usually going with my initial belief as I look at the eligible games. It doesn’t always happen, but usually there’s at least one game after which I say, “That’s the one.”

It turns out this week, for the fifth time this season, we are picking the same game: the Patriots to cover against the Dolphins. That means I will maintain that slim one-game lead when Week 13 rolls around.

Standings after 11 weeks

Howard: 8-3 (3 direct hits)

Jess: 7-4 (3 direct hits)

Georgia football has nation’s top recruiting class after recent commit

The Georgia Bulldogs have the nation’s top recruiting class after gaining a commitment from 4-star Chase Linton

The Georgia Bulldogs became the SEC’s best ranked recruiting class of 2025 after cornerback Dominick Kelly reclassified from the class of 2026 to 2025. Now, with four-star edge rusher Chase Linton committing to Georgia, the Bulldogs have passed Ohio State and earned the top recruiting class in the nation.

Georgia has done a lot of work in the past few weeks to get the top spot, preparing for the early signing period beginning Dec. 4. It appears that their work is far from done as Kirby Smart has been active looking to flip recruits. Specifically, he’s been looking to flip several of the nation’s top committed quarterbacks.

Georgia’s recruit class includes five five-stars, including Elijah Griffin, and 19 four-stars. It’s an incredible feat, especially since the SEC has seven of the nation’s top 10 recruiting classes.
