It was just 2 weeks ago that San Antonio exercised the 3rd year (2023-24) team option for Josh Primo.
He is under contract for $4.1M and $4.3M.
He is eligible to be claimed with room or an exception but a team will have to do its diligence on why the 19-year old was waived. – 7:31 PM

Josh Primo just got waived by the Spurs. Makes no sense. He was out Wednesday with a glute injury. But this is very strange to waive a first round pick with obvious upside. Clearly more to it. – 7:28 PM

The NBA’s official injury report is listing Devin Vassell and Josh Primo as OUT again tonight.
Teams submit those reports daily, but Spurs haven’t yet made it official today. So, potentially subject to change. Did not see either on the court following shootaround today, though. – 12:53 PM

Matthew Tynan: The Spurs have recalled Malaki Branham and Blake Wesley ahead of their game against Chicago in San Antonio tomorrow. A little insurance policy after both Devin Vassell and Josh Primo sat out last night with various injuries. -via Twitter @Matthew_Tynan / October 27, 2022
Tom Orsborn: Primo is out, Pop said, after that hard fall he took Monday night on his backside. Pop also said he’s not sure how long Vassell (sore left knee) will be out. -via Twitter @tom_orsborn / October 26, 2022

Spurs to play home games in Mexico?

The Spurs are looking to double the number of “home” games they can play away from the arena. That will require changes to the Spurs’ nonrelocation agreement with the county. Bexar County commissioners are scheduled to discuss the matter in a closed executive session Tuesday. Although specific locations haven’t been nailed down, Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff said the latest iteration of proposed changes for the 2022-2023 and 2023-2024 seasons would allow the Spurs to host two international “home” games, possibly in Mexico City and Monterrey, and two others within 100 miles — Austin or perhaps San Marcos. There are 41 home games per season.

In a statement, Spurs Sports & Entertainment CEO R.C. Buford said the team is committed to San Antonio and South Texas. “We are committed to finding new, creative ways to purposefully engage and celebrate our fans from Mexico to Austin, continuing to expand our regional fan base,” Buford said. “We believe San Antonio is uniquely positioned from a cultural, geographic and economic standpoint to serve as the anchor for this region. San Antonio has been home for five decades, and the organization will continue to innovate, positioning the Spurs to thrive in San Antonio for the next 50 years,” he added.

The annual NBA draft combine, which was …

The annual NBA draft combine, which was supposed to be held this month in Chicago, has been postponed. For the Spurs, it has created a dearth of data heading into what could be the team’s most consequential draft in 23 years. “There’s quite a bit that is (normally) going on at this time of the year,” Buford said. “We’re working through places where we need to fill gaps.”

For now, the Spurs have been relying on …
