Arizona offensive lineman withdraws from the transfer portal, gives Jedd Fisch another loss

Raymond Pulido is staying in Tucson with Brent Brennan.

The Washington Huskies and coach Jedd Fisch continue to not land a number of high-value Arizona targets. The latest Wildcat to stay in Tucson instead of transferring out of the program: offensive lineman Raymond Pulido. The decision is yet another in a series of portal reversals from Fisch’s Arizona players, who have been split in their reactions to Fisch’s move to Seattle. Some have followed him, but many others have not. Pulido is the latest.

This is yet another instance not only of Arizona retaining a key roster piece for its move to the Big 12 in 2024, but of Washington not adding to its own pool of resources for the Huskies’ first season in the Big Ten. It’s good news for USC, Oregon, UCLA, and the rest of the Big Ten.

Washington was always going to lose Michael Penix, Rome Odunze, and other elite prospects to the NFL draft, but the Fisch move from Tucson was supposed to bring a tsunami of players from the Southwest to the Pacific Northwest. It hasn’t been a tsunami. Maybe a small-to-modest-size wave, but nothing overwhelming. Is Fisch privately concerned about this, or will he calmly make the requisite portal adjustments to fully stock his 2024 UW roster? It’s a fascinating question.

Alabama OL commit backs off of verbal commitment, set to sign with PAC-12 program

Alabama’s 2023 recruiting class suffered a loss on Sunday as offensive line commit Raymond Pulido backed off of his commitment. He will now be signing with Arizona on Wednesday’s early National Signing Day.

Recently, reports circulated that  2023 Alabama offensive line commit Raymond Pulido had backed off of his commitment to the Tide. Later on, his father, Robert, confirmed the news via Twitter.

The caption read, “Very proud of our son….many might not see it as the popular decision. Having trust in your position coach matters,” Pulido said. He then went on to add, “Development matters, being close to family and friends matters…keep working, dedication and be the best at what you do son.”

The native of Apple Valley, California was one of five offensive linemen committed to Alabama as a part of the 2023 recruiting class. However, Pulido will now be spending his college days in the PAC-12 for the Wildcats football program.

As for the Tide, they will likely look to add one more offensive lineman to the class. There is a strong chance that it could be five-star offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor. The Iowa commit took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa over the weekend and has been trending toward Alabama ever since. I would be surprised if the Iowa native doesn’t flip his commitment to the Tide. He is set to make his official college decision on Wednesday.

Alabama lands fifth OL commit from 2023 class in California native Raymond Pulido

Pulido chose the Crimson Tide over other programs like UCLA, Oregon, and Louisville.

Alabama’s coaching staff has been pushing to add some of the nation’s best talent over the last few months. One of the nation’s premier offensive tackles is California native Raymond Pulido. On Saturday, Pulido announced that he is committing to Alabama via his Twitter account.

Pulido is an intriguing prospect because he isn’t ranked as high as the other four offensive linemen committed to the Crimson Tide: RyQueze McElderry, Wilkin Formby, Olaus Alinen and Miles McVay. However, the size is certainly there. He stands at 6-foot-6, 345 pounds according to 247Sports.

As it stands, Alabama has five offensive linemen committed for the 2023 recruiting class.

Pulido may be overlooked by recruiting services, but Alabama fans should be excited to see Pulido as well as the other commitments already on board for the 2023 recruiting class. It could be one of the more talented recruiting classes that Coach Saban has ever signed. We will have to wait and see.
