As Texas A&M prepares to kick off an exciting 2023 college football season, they have no shortage of talented players being placed on watchlists for some individual hardware.
Nik Constantinou, who is the primary punter for the Maroon and White, has been named to the Ray Guy Award preseason watchlist ahead of the 2023 season. Constantinou is entering his fourth season in Aggieland and will look to follow in the footsteps of the great Aggie punters before him.
The Ray Guy Award, named in honor of Hall of Famer Ray Guy, recognizes the top punter in college football based on leadership and performance. As Constantinou heads into the 2023 season, he boasts a career average of 43.2 yards per kick and has pinned 23 punts inside the 20-yard line.
Braden Mann was the last Aggie to win the Ray Guy Award, having been granted the hardware back in 2018. Constantinou and Mann are just two punter greats that have stepped through College Station over the years. Of course, fans will remember former quarterback recruit-turned-punter Shane Lechler, who spent four years kicking for the Aggies and was a two-time All-American while donning the Maroon and White.

Constantinou is the latest Aggie to be placed on a watchlist for hardware, joining senior defensive lineman McKinnley Jackson who was named to the Pro Football Writer’s Association of America’s 2023 Outland Trophy Watch List.
Texas A&M has officially kicked off its fall practice program and will prepare for its season opener against New Mexico. They’ll play host to the Lobos on Saturday, September 2, at Kyle Field, with kick-off set for 6:00 p.m. CT.
