Texas A&M’s Tyler White has been named Ray Guy Punter of the Week

Texas A&M freshman punter Tyler White has been named the Ray Guy’s “Ray’s 8 Punter of the Week

A pleasant surprise this season has been true freshman punter Tyler White. The Texas A&M special team’s ace routinely flips the field for the defense and has enough hangtime to force a fair catch.

Already on the Ray Guy Award Watchlist, Tyler made this week’s Ray’s 8 for their punter of the week, along with seven others. The Ray Guy Award is presented to the best FBS punter in the nation, and during the season, they give out a weekly award called “Rays 8”.

This is the first time he’s made the list with an opportunity to be named Punter of the Week. The three-time SEC Player of the Week kept LSU pinned on their side of the field Saturday night, allowing the defense to settle in and make them work for every point.

Below is the social media announcement that Tyler White has been named Ray Guy’s Punter of the Week.

Senior punter Brian Buschini named to Ray Guy Award watch list for third straight year

Senior punter Brian Buschini was named to the Ray Guy Award watch list.

A Husker enters the 2024 football season with his name on an award watchlist for the third straight year. Senior punter Brian Buschini was named to the Ray Guy Award watch list.

Buschini is one of 34 punters nationally named to the preseason watch list Friday. The Ray Guy Award is presented to the nation’s top punter in the FBS. The winner will be announced during ESPN’s Home Depot College Football Awards Show in December.

In his collegiate career, the Helena, Montana native has averaged 43.7 yards per punt. Buschini has been the starter for the Huskers in the past two seasons. Last year, he averaged 40.7 yards on 57 punts, landing 20 of his 57 punts inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

In his first season at Nebraska, he averaged 44.0 yards per punt, ranking eighth in Husker history and 25th in the nation. He delivered 16 punts of 50 yards or longer, including a 74-yard punt against Wisconsin that ranked seventh-longest in school history.

Before arriving at Nebraska, Buschini spent three seasons at Montana from 2019 to 2021. In his final season with the Grizzlies, Buschini won FCS Punter of the Year and was named first-team All-American. He averaged 46.0 yards per punt and helped Montana lead the FCS in net punting average.

Texas A&M punter Nik Constantinou named to 2023 Ray Guy Award watchlist

Texas A&M’s Nik Constantinou was named to the 2023 Ray Guy Award preseason watchlist, which recognizes the top punter in college football based on leadership and performance.

As Texas A&M prepares to kick off an exciting 2023 college football season, they have no shortage of talented players being placed on watchlists for some individual hardware.

Nik Constantinou, who is the primary punter for the Maroon and White, has been named to the Ray Guy Award preseason watchlist ahead of the 2023 season. Constantinou is entering his fourth season in Aggieland and will look to follow in the footsteps of the great Aggie punters before him.

The Ray Guy Award, named in honor of Hall of Famer Ray Guy, recognizes the top punter in college football based on leadership and performance. As Constantinou heads into the 2023 season, he boasts a career average of 43.2 yards per kick and has pinned 23 punts inside the 20-yard line.

Braden Mann was the last Aggie to win the Ray Guy Award, having been granted the hardware back in 2018. Constantinou and Mann are just two punter greats that have stepped through College Station over the years. Of course, fans will remember former quarterback recruit-turned-punter Shane Lechler, who spent four years kicking for the Aggies and was a two-time All-American while donning the Maroon and White.

Constantinou is the latest Aggie to be placed on a watchlist for hardware, joining senior defensive lineman McKinnley Jackson who was named to the Pro Football Writer’s Association of America’s 2023 Outland Trophy Watch List.

Texas A&M has officially kicked off its fall practice program and will prepare for its season opener against New Mexico. They’ll play host to the Lobos on Saturday, September 2, at Kyle Field, with kick-off set for 6:00 p.m. CT.
