Former Steeler Rashard Mendenhall takes to Twitter with yet another tirade

Rashard Mendenhall never holds back when it comes to Ben Roethlisberger and the fans who criticize him.

Few former Pittsburgh Steelers do less for themselves in the eyes of fans than former running back Rashard Mendenhall. The grudge he carries for his former team, especially his former quarterback and the fans is heavy and seems to take over his personality at times.

Mendenhall’s latest Twitter rant centers on the discontent Steelers fans have with head coach Mike Tomlin and his ongoing hatred for former Steelers quarterback and future Hall of Famer Ben Roethlisberger.

Mendenhall seems to think the reason the Steelers didn’t win in the playoffs was because of Roethlisberger and nothing else but this level of pettiness is nothing new for him. And to make it about black and white is a new low for him.

Mendenhall has a somewhat successful NFL career after a stellar career at the University of Illinois. I’m sure there are many topics related to football and life he would be highly qualified to talk about.

But unfortunately, he fumbled this one.

Former Steeler Rashard Mendenhall stays bitter about his former quarterback

Rashard Mendenhall is still upset about how his career went in Pittsburgh.

There have been plenty of former Pittsburgh Steelers who left the team on less-than-ideal terms only to mend fences and find their way back. One former Steeler who is never going to do that is former running back Rashard Mendenhall. He was been petty every chance he could get someone to listen about his time in Pittsburgh and especially his issues with former quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Mendenhall was a guest on the Raw Room podcast where he took advantage of having a microphone in front of him to vent all his past frustrations in public once again.

“Whenever we doing great, ‘The quarterback’s amazing, he’s awesome.’ Whenever we struggling, ‘Fire Tomlin, oh Le’Veon [Bell].’ Every time it’s not going well, are we a team or not? When we lose, certain people are shielded from the loss and then everybody and anybody else taking the blame happens to look like us a lot of the time.”

In case anyone wonders why Mendenhall is so bitter, you need look no further than Super Bowl XLV. Which ironically was against the same foe, the Green Bay Packers, who the Steelers will face this weekend.

Fans have never let Mendenhall live down his fumble from that game. Despite the fact it happened very early in the fourth quarter in a game the Steelers only trailed 21-17. The tale gets retold like it was on the final drive of the game and Pittsburgh had no chance to correct it. This was never the case.

Nevertheless, we hope Mendenhall can eventually get past this and stop letting something that happened so long ago impact him now.

Every player drafted by Steelers GM Kevin Colbert

A complete gallery of each player drafted by general manager Kevin Colbert since his tenure began in 2001.

With the exception of Ben Roethlisberger and Mason Rudolph, quarterbacks drafted by general manager Kevin Colbert have all moved onto other teams or are no longer in the league.

I believe this position is a W for Colbert as he’s mainly been drafting for depth and not for starters. Roethlisberger is a future Hall of Famer and backups are a dime a dozen.

Former Steeler Rashard Mendenhall goes off about criticism over SB fumble

Rashard Mendenhall is tired of hearing about his fumble in the Super Bowl.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have had many many signature plays from their eight Super Bowl appearances. Most of the most memorable plays from those games are positive as the Steelers have six Super Bowl championships. But there are a few which will always stand out for all the wrong reasons.

One of the biggest negatives for Pittsburgh is the costly fumble by running back Rashard Mendenhall in Super Bowl XLV. The fumble didn’t end the game but it was still brutal. The Steelers had momentum heading into the fourth quarter and the fumble gave the football back to the Green Bay Packers which they quickly turned into a touchdown. The Packers beat the Steelers 31-25.

With nothing going on in sports thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, networks are replaying old games and when Super Bowl XLV came on the opened up an old would for Mendenhall. And with social media being what it is, Steelers fans came out in droves to call Mendenhall out.

This didn’t please Mendenhall and he took to Twitter to essentially challenge all these fans who are posting about it. We aren’t going to post the tweet here because it is certainly not safe for work, even from home. But if you just have to see the video you can click here.
