Rangers at Red Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Sox 6, Rangers 5

Moneyline

BET RED SOX (-130).

Texas is just 3-7 in its last 10 games including 1-3 in its last 4 games on the road. It has allowed 8 or more runs in each of those 3 losses and is starting Mahle, who has pitched just once this season. Bello on the mound for the Red Sox will be a difference-maker with his 10-5 record, largely due to his ability to keep runners off the base paths.

Run line/Against the spread

PASS.

Between 2 teams that have faced recent struggles, the moneyline is the best play in this matchup.

Over/Under

BET OVER 9.5 (-110).

The Rangers have a 7-3 Over record in their last 10 games andd have hit the Over in back-to-back games, scoring 7 or more runs in each. The Red Sox have hit the Over in 8 of their last 10 games while scoring 4 or more runs in 8 of their last 9 and allowing 4 or more runs in 8 of their last 9.

The Texas Rangers (51-36) close out a 3-game series against the Boston Red Sox (44-43) Thursday. First pitch from Fenway Park is at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Red Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: tied 1-1

The Rangers lost 4-2 Wednesday after taking the series opener 6-2 on Tuesday. Texas has lost 5 of its last 7 games and 8 of its last 12 as its lead over the Houston Astros in the AL West has dwindled to 2 games.

The Red Sox have won 4 out of their last 5 games after a stretch that saw them drop 7 of 8, including 5 straight from June 24-29. Boston is in last place in the AL East and trails the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays by 12 games despite having a winning record.

Rangers at Red Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Rangers 6, Red Sox 3

Moneyline

The Rangers have been scuffling a bit but are still 24-18 on the road overall compared to Boston’s 22-22 mark at home.

Eovaldi allowed 2 total runs in his last 2 starts and is 6-1 with a 2.44 ERA in 10 road starts this season.

However, despite that the Rangers are a good bet to win, their ATS performance this season makes that the better wager.

PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

The Rangers’ 52-35 ATS mark is 2nd in all of baseball, while the Red Sox are 45-42 ATS.

The Rangers’ last 12 wins have been by 2 or more runs.

If you like them to win, you should like them to cover, so take advantage of the positive odds.

BET RANGERS -1.5 (+110).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

Three of Eovaldi’s last 4 starts did not have 10 total runs.

Six of the Red Sox’ last 7 games had fewer than 10 total runs.

The last 4 meetings between the 2 teams failed to reach 10 runs.

BET UNDER 10 (-110).

Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[anyclip pubname=”2129″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8190″]

The Texas Rangers (51-35) take on the Boston Red Sox (43-43) in the 2nd game of a 3-game set Wednesday at Fenway Park. First pitch is at 7:10 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Rangers vs. Red Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Rangers lead 1-0

The Rangers took the series opener 6-2 on Tuesday, powered by a C Mitch Garver 3-run homer in the 2nd inning. Texas has been treading water over the last month, going 10-10 and 15-15 over the last 20 and 30 games, respectively. The Houston Astros have taken advantage of Texas’ mediocre play and are now just 3 games back for the AL West lead. The Rangers are 24-17 away from home this season.

The Red Sox matched the Rangers’ 10 hits Tuesday but could only muster up 2 runs. They have had similar results over the last month or so, going 10-10 and 14-16 over the last 20 and 30 games. Boston sits in last place in the AL East, 13 games behind the division-leading Tampa Bay Rays. The Sox have not played particularly well at home and are just 21-22 at Fenway Park this season.

Rangers at Red Sox projected starters

RHP Jon Gray vs. RHP Brayan Bello

Gray (6-4, 3.21 ERA) makes his 16th start. He has a 1.08 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9 and 7.6 K/9 through 87 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 6 IP, 5 ER, 7 H, 2 BB, 4 K Friday against the Houston Astros
  • Hasn’t faced the Red Sox since 2016
  • Road warrior: 4-1, 1.99 ERA, 0.89 WHIP in 7 road starts; 2-3, 4.27 ERA, 1.25 WHIP in 8 home starts

Bello (5-5, 3.08 ERA) makes his 14th start. He has a 1.19 WHIP, 2.7 BB/9 and 8.3 K/9 across 73 IP.

  • Last start: Loss, 7 IP, 1 ER, 2 H, 1 BB, 5 K against the Miami Marlins Thursday
  • Has allowed 2 ER or fewer in 10 of his last 11 starts

Rangers at Red Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Sox 4, Rangers 3

Moneyline

I like the Red Sox here because Bello has been great the last month-and-a-half. He’s just 2-4 but has a 2.22 ERA and 0.94 WHIP in his last 7 starts. Meanwhile, Gray has been trending in the wrong direction with 5 ER in 2 of his last 3 starts. He is great on the road, but 7 walks in his last 3 starts keep him from going deep into games.

Take the RED SOX (-110).

Run line/Against the spread

The Rangers are favored, and the Red Sox are outpriced on the RL Wednesday.

Instead of the run line, I’m riding with BRAYAN BELLO OVER 17.5 OUTS (-135). He has gone at least 6 innings in 5 straight outings and 6 of his last 7 starts. He also did so in his only career start against Texas.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

This seems like a tall number. Gray has been great on the road, and Bello has been great the last couple of months. Texas is 4-3-3 O/U over the last 10, and Boston is 4-6.

The Under is 3-0-1 in Texas’ last 4 against the AL East and is 3-0-2 in Texas’ last 5 road games. The Under is 8-1 for Boston in the last 9 after they allowed 5 runs or more in a game and 7-1 in the Red Sox’s last 8 following a loss.

I like the UNDER 9.5 (-105).

Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Texas Rangers (58-71) are in New England this week to face the Boston Red Sox (63-68) and wrap their season series with a 4-game set. First pitch for the opener at Fenway Park will be at 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Rangers vs. Red Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Season series: Red Sox lead 2-1

The Rangers have lost 4 games in a row, dropping 2 to the Detroit Tigers and 2 to the Houston Astros. They sit 3rd in the AL West, 25 games back of the Astros for the division lead. Three of their last 4 losses have come by at least 2 runs and they’ve allowed 4 or more runs in each of their last 7 games.

The Red Sox snapped their 3-game losing skid by beating the Minnesota Twins 6-5 Wednesday. Boston is 16 games back of the New York Yankees in the AL East.

Rangers at Red Sox projected starters

RHP Glenn Otto vs. LHP Rich Hill

Otto (6-8, 4.79 ERA) makes his 21st start. He has a 1.40 WHIP, 4.9 BB/9 and 6.7 K/9 through 99 2/3 IP.

  • Was fairly impressive in August with a 2.93 ERA with a 2-1 record
  • The Rangers have won his last 4 starts, a stretch in which he’s allowed 2 or fewer earned runs 3 times

Hill (6-5, 4.32 ERA) makes his 20th start. He has a 1.25 WHIP, 2.5 BB/9 and 7.4 K/9 through 89 2/3 IP.

  • Was brilliant in his last start with 7-scoreless innings and a season-high 11 strikeouts against the Tampa Bay Rays Saturday
  • Boston has won, and he’s earned wins in, his last 2 starts which came against the Rays and Pittsburgh Pirates

Rangers at Red Sox picks and predictions

Prediction

Red Sox 6, Rangers 4

Money line

The Red Sox have played some uninspiring ball lately with 9 losses in their last 13 games. However, Hill was great in his last start and now they’re back at home playing against a struggling Rangers team. Despite Texas ranking 11th in batting average against lefties (.253), I like the Red Sox to win at Fenway.

However, with the ML sitting at -180, I’m going to PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

Boston covered the spread against the Twins Wednesday, holding on to win 6-5 even after giving up 2 runs in the 8th. With the money line being juiced, there’s far more value in taking the Red Sox to cover the run line and win by at least a few runs.

I like the RED SOX -1.5 (+115) to cover, and getting that line at plus money is a good value.

Over/Under

The total went Over in 3 of the Red Sox’s last 4 games. The Over is 6-1 in the Rangers’ last 7 games, and even though they lost 5 of those games, they’re putting runs across the plate.

With a couple of volatile pitchers on the mound, I’m taking the OVER 9.5 (+110) in this matchup.

Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Texas Rangers at Boston Red Sox odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Texas Rangers (42-79) and Boston Red Sox (69-54) open a three-game series at Fenway Park Friday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:10 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze the lines around the Rangers vs. Red Sox odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Rangers RHP Dane Dunning (5-7, 4.06 ERA) makes his 22nd start. He has a 1.39 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 8.8 K/9 through 99 2/3 IP.

  • The Rangers are 6-1 across Dunning’s last seven starts. He allowed no more than 3 runs in any of those appearances, giving up 11 total earned runs over 34 2/3 innings.
  • Allowed only 2 runs while striking out 4 over 4 2/3 innings against the Oakland Athletics in his last start.

Red Sox LHP Chris Sale makes his second start since 2019. He allowed 2 ER on 6 H and 0 BB with 8 K across 5 IP in his season debut Saturday.

  • In 15 games (11 starts) against the Rangers in his career, Sale is 7-2 with a 2.58 ERA and 100 strikeouts over 80 1/3 innings.

Rangers at Red Sox odds, lines, picks and prediction

MLB odds courtesy of Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports for a full list. Odds last updated at 10:30 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Rangers +260 (bet $100 to win $260) | Red Sox -333 (bet $333 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Rangers +2.5 (-120) | Red Sox -2.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 8.5 (O: -125 | U: +100)

Prediction

Red Sox 4, Rangers 3

Money line (ML)

The Red Sox have been on a cold streak and were swept by the New York Yankees in their last three-game series. They also dropped two of three to the Tampa Bay Rays before sweeping the Baltimore Orioles, as they struggle against good teams.

The Rangers aren’t a strong opponent, but Dunning has pitched well of late and Sale is making just his second start since 2019.

I still like the Red Sox in a close one, but I’d PASS on the -333 money line.

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

The Red Sox are favored by 2.5 runs at home, which feels like a lot given the way they’ve been playing lately. Both teams are 5-5 ATS over their last 10 games, but Boston failed to cover in any of its three games against the Yankees.

Bet the RANGERS +2.5 (-120).

Over/Under (O/U)

The trends have been very different for these teams, with the total going Under in five of the Red Sox’s last seven games and Over in four of Texas’s last six.

Sale and Dunning should both pitch fairly well, even if they don’t go very deep into the game.

Take the UNDER 8.5 (+100) at even money.
