Rams raising season ticket prices for 1st time since opening SoFi Stadium

The Rams are raising the price of season tickets, the first time they’ve done so since moving into SoFi Stadium

Prices for Rams season tickets are going up a little bit. According to Adam Grosbard of the OC Register, the team is increasing season ticket prices for the first time since opening SoFi Stadium in 2020, one year before fans were able to attend games due to the pandemic.

Starting prices for season tickets will increase from $600 to $720 per season, which is an increase of $12 per game. According to the team, 52% of the stadium will have its prices increase by 10% or less per game, so it’s not a substantial hike.

“We thought our price increase was reasonable overall given the context of normally teams raise ticket prices each year; we haven’t for three years,” Rams COO Kevin Demoff said on a conference call. “This is a pretty moderate increase coming off of three years without an increase.”

The good news for season ticket holders is that there will be a new ticket exchange program where they can sell back up to three games per season for a credit toward the following season’s season ticket package. Season ticket holders will also be eligible for food and drink discounts, ranging from 15-30% depending on the package level.

Rams resale ticket prices down 23% from last year, 15th-cheapest in NFL

Rams tickets on the resale market are down 23% compared to last year, ranking near the middle of the pack among all NFL teams

The Los Angeles Rams were a hot ticket last season after winning Super Bowl LVI, at least for the first portion of the season. They eventually faded down the stretch and finished 5-12, but fans were paying big money to see the defending champions take the field.

The sentiment has changed a bit heading into the 2023 season after a dreadful year. The Rams are clearly rebuilding after parting ways with several big-name veterans, and the only recognizable names for casual NFL fans are Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald and Cooper Kupp.

It’s hardly surprising that the average Rams ticket price has come down this year compared to the 2022 season. According to TicketSmarter, the average resale price of Rams tickets is $320, which ranks as the 15th-cheapest in the NFL.

They’re one of just four teams whose average resale price has declined from 2022 to this season, dropping from $417 to $320 – a decrease of 23%. The Bengals (down 5% from $309 to $294), Cardinals (down 18% from $268 to $220) and 49ers (down 43% from $742 to $410) are the only other teams in the NFL with declining ticket prices from last year.

The Rams still play in one of the best stadiums in the world, so that alone should be a draw for fans in Los Angeles. And while they may not be the best team this season, they have a schedule that’s filled with intriguing matchups, from games against the 49ers to battles with the Bengals, Cowboys, Eagles, Packers, Ravens and Steelers.

Those are some dedicated fanbases, which should have stadiums packed one way or another.

Here’s how much Rams ticket prices have increased in the last 15 years

The average price of a Rams ticket has gone up 63% since 2006, but that’s only the 18th-biggest increase in the NFL

Since moving to Los Angeles and hiring Sean McVay, the Rams have become one of the more exciting teams in the NFL. And after winning the Super Bowl in February, they’ve unquestionably established themselves as one of the premier franchises in football.

They had success previously in St. Louis, specifically during the Greatest Show on Turf era, but the Rams have had just one losing season in six years since moving back to Los Angeles – and it was in 2016 before McVay arrived.

Understandably, ticket prices have gone up pretty noticeably in the last 15 years, influenced by the opening of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. But it’s not as if Rams tickets have increased in price as much as some other teams.

According to Action Network, the average Rams ticket price has gone up 63% in the last 15 years, from $63.71 in 2006 to $103.62 in 2021. That’s only the 18th-biggest increase percentage-wise in the NFL, and well below the league-leading Raiders (147%).

On the secondary market, Rams tickets are among the most expensive in the NFL. The average price of a ticket to a home game is $359, fourth-highest in the league.

That’s hardly surprising after the season they just had.

Average Rams ticket price has almost doubled since 2019

With a new stadium and a new quarterback, Rams tickets are in demand.

The Los Angeles Rams opened SoFi Stadium without much fanfare last year, though it’s no fault of their own. Local restrictions prevented the Rams from holding a single home game with fans in attendance, which is not how Stan Kroenke and the rest of the organization wanted to begin their tenure in the $5 billion stadium.

As one might expect, however, demand for Rams tickets this year is extremely high. The new stadium paired with the arrival of Matthew Stafford has fans dying to attend a game in Inglewood, driving up the price of tickets on the secondary market.

According to TickPick, the Rams have seen a 112% increase in ticket transactions compared to 2019, which is the last time fans were able to attend a home game; that was at the L.A. Coliseum, of course.

Additionally, the average purchase price of Rams tickets was $109.24 in 2019 and has nearly doubled to $212.16 this year, a 94% increase.

The Rams had about 30,000 fans in attendance for their open practice in June at SoFi Stadium, which shows just how badly their supporters want to see the team play in person. The building seats 70,000 people and has a capacity of up to 100,000 for larger events, so the Rams can expect huge turnouts for games this season.
