Raiders host Boston College WR Zay Flowers on Top 30 visit

Boston College WR Zay Flowers visiting Raiders today

The Top 30 visits continue in Las Vegas. And it’s another offensive player. They hosted Kentucky QB Will Levis Monday and today it’s Boston College WR Zay Flowers coming to town according to NFL media’s Tom Pelissero.

This is ahead of Florida QB Anthony Richardson set to visit on Friday.

Flowers is a projected first round pick in April’s draft.

The 5-10 177-pound receiver caught 78 passes for 1077 yards and 12 touchdowns last season for the BC Eagles.

Flowers fan a 4.42 40-yard-dash at the scouting combine which was 9th at his position.

The Raiders currently employ arguably the best receiver in the game in DaVante Adams. They also have one of the league’s top slot receivers in Hunter Renfrow and just signed the top free agent receiver in Jakobi Meyers. So, drafting a receiving in the first round would be a strange move. Perhaps they’re hoping Flowers somehow makes it to them in the second round?

Raiders to host Florida QB Anthony Richardson for Top 30 pre-draft visit

Raiders continue their due diligence with Florida QB Anthony Richardson coming for a visit Friday

The Raiders due diligence ahead of this year’s draft continues. Shortly after reports the team was hosting Kentucky QB Will Levis on a pre-draft visit Monday, it was revealed the team will be hosting QB Anthony Richardson on Friday.

Levis and Richardson appear the two most likely targets for the Raiders should they take a quarterback at the top of the draft.

Currently the Raiders hold the seventh overall pick. Most predictions have three quarterbacks off the board in the top four picks and possibly four in the top five.

Richardson and Levis are widely considered the third and fourth best quarterbacks.

Should the Raiders be high on one of them, they may have to trade up to third overall if they hope to ensure they get their guy. If they don’t, some other team likely will.

Richardson was a breakout star at Florida last season, throwing for 2549 yards with 26 total touchdowns (nine rushing). He’s considered a raw prospect with high upside potential. Definitely the type of prospect these Top 30 draft visits were designed for. Especially if a club is going to be betting their future on him.

Raiders to host Kentucky QB Will Levis on Top-30 visit

Will Levis is visiting the Raiders today

It’s April which means draft preparation is kicking into high gear. The Raiders hold the seventh overall pick and find themselves squarely in the market for a quarterback. Picking the right one will take all the due diligence.

Today they will exercise some of that due diligence, hosting Kentucky’s Will Levis on a Top-30 visit.

Levis is widely considered one of the draft’s top four quarterbacks, all of whom are expected to be selected in the top ten, and potentially the top five, should teams trade up.

Therefore, the decision as to which of the QB’s the Raiders select could end up out of their hands. But whether they choose to trade up, or take one such as Levis at seven, should he be there, depends on the impression they get from his visit along with his pro day and scouting combine workout.

Other top QB prospects in this draft include CJ Stroud, Bryce Young, and Anthony Richardson. With Stroud and Young figuring to be out of reach, Richardson and Levis are the two that seem potentially attainable at seven.

Raiders had draft visit with Baylor safety JT Woods

Raiders hosted Baylor safety JT Woods on a draft visit

The draft visits continue for the Raiders who have quite a few needs and no picks in the first two round with which to fill them. For instance, safety is not considered necessarily one of the team’s top priorities.

They have two starters and both backups returning. But they’re still doing their due diligence on the position just the same.

This week the team hosted Baylor safety JT Woods on a visit, according to Doug Kyed of Pro Football Focus.

Woods is projected to be selected in the fourth or fifth round in this year’s draft, and the Raiders have picks in both rounds.

The 6-2, 195-pounder started all 14 games for the Bears last season, collecting six interceptions and eight pass breakups. He returned one of them for a touchdown as well as a fumble recovery which he returned a school-record 97 yards for the score.

With his size and 4.36 40, he may fit into that Best Player Available mold should he be on the board in the fifth round, regardless of team need. Certainly worth a closer look. Hence the visit.
