Rutgers football

Next week, Rutgers football will visit Jared Wilkerson to campus for a visit. The talented offensive lineman will visit Syracuse this weekend.

Wilkerson, a 6-foot-6, 330-pound offensive tackle from Edgewater (Orlando, Florida), is a three-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 96 offensive tackle in the nation by 247Sports. The Rutgers recruit is also ranked as the No. 88 offensive tackle in the nation in the class of 2025 by On3.

While Rutgers has shown heavy interest in Wilkerson, they have competition. The Florida native recently visited Miami and has received offers from Appalachian State and Buffalo. However, in just a few weeks, Rutgers will make their case and show him why Piscataway is the best place to continue his football career.

Offered by Colorado and Miami, Raedyn Bruens is all in – ‘I’m 100% committed to Rutgers’

Raedyn Bruens breaks down his Rutgers football commitment.

For Raedyn Bruens, his weekend commitment to Rutgers football was based on the feeling of home he felt on his official visit. It made for a natural selection for Bruens, who established himself as a top recruit out of Florida coming into his weekend trip to New Jersey.

Bruens held offers from Colorado, Miami, USF, Tulane and West Virginia at the time of his weekend commitment to Rutgers football. He is a three-star recruit who is coming off a season where he had 48 total tackles and eight tackles for a loss as well as two sacks and five quarterback hurries in eight games played.

A 6-foot-4, 241-pound edge from A. Crawford Mosley (Lynn Haven, Florida), Bruens is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 78 edge in the country.

“Rutgers felt like home they treated my whole family like it’s their own,” Bruens told Rutgers Wire.

“They showed us nothing but respect and showed they cared about not just me but my family as well.

“Once I got around the coaches and the players it kinda just felt like home and I knew it was the place I wanted to be.”

Just days before his trip to Rutgers, Bruens was offered by Miami.

He said he has no official visits planned and his recruitment is shut down.

“I don’t have any other visits lined up,” Bruens said.

“I’m 100 percent committed to Rutgers.”

The official visit gave Bruens a chance to connect with the staff as well as the recruits on the trip. He spent a lot of time with [autotag]Renick Dorilas[/autotag] (a three-star defensive back who committed to Rutgers in late March).

He also spent time with [autotag]Michael Clayton[/autotag], who Bruens described as “hilarious.”

“They are all great – everyone on the staff as well as players and their families are like family regardless if you are the best player or worst player,” Bruens said.

Clayton committed to Rutgers over the weekend while on his official visit.

Monster recruiting day! Florida three-star Raedyn Bruens commits to Rutgers football

Raedyn Bruens has committed to Rutgers football.

Raedyn Bruens is the latest commitment for Rutgers football in what has been a very busy and successful official visit weekend for the Big Ten program.

The addition of Bruens marks the third defensive lineman who committed to Rutgers on Saturday. Earlier on Saturday, defensive lineman Miron Gurman (a three-star from New York) gave his verbal to Rutgers.

And on early Sunday evening, Georgia defensive lineman Braxton Kyle committed to the Scarlet Knights.

Bruens was recently offered by Miami. He also held offers from Colorado, USF, Tulane and West Virginia

He is a 6-foot-4, 241-pound edge from A. Crawford Mosley (Lynn Haven, Florida) and is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 77 edge in the country.

The New Jersey earthquake didn’t stop Raedyn Bruens from taking an unofficial visit to Rutgers

Rutgers football hosted Florida edge rusher Raedyn Bruens over the weekend.

For Raedyn Bruens, the unofficial visit must go on. Even if that visit included an earthquake that took place just 25 minutes from Rutgers.

For Bruens, his two-day visit to Rutgers was his first time on campus.

An edge rusher who attends Mosley High School (Lynn Haven, Florida), Bruens is ranked a three-star according to 247Sports, where he is the No. 69 edge rusher in the nation and the No. 117 player in Florida in this recruiting cycle.

He holds offers from FAU, Jacksonville State, South Florida, Troy and Tulane among others.

His visit to Rutgers over the weekend began on Friday. Just a couple of hours into the visit, something memorable happened.

Well, it would have been memorable if Bruens had realized it at the time.

“I actually didn’t at first,” Bruens told Rutgers Wire about the Friday morning earthquake, which measured a 4.8.

“I didn’t even know till later. I did feel an after shock after I had gotten to the hotel.”

At the time that the earthquake rumbled across New Jersey, Bruens and his family were pulling up to the academic center at Rutgers for a meeting. Bruens learned about the earthquake when a friend of his mother texted her to check in on the family.

The friend had seen the news about the earthquake in New Jersey and wanted to make sure everyone was safe.

As for the rest of the visit, the part that was truly memorable for Bruens, it was a good first experience at Rutgers.

“We got there late Thursday night and Friday was a life day for them,” Bruens said.

“So we got to watch them lift and had meetings with some coaches and academic advisers. Saturday was a scrimmage day so I got to see them practice then scrimmage for an hour. It was a great time.”

Last year, Bruens had 48 total tackles including eight tackles for a loss. He had two sacks and five quarterback hurries as well as four passes defended.

He said he is planning on taking an official visit to Rutgers this summer.

“I loved it,” Bruens said. “Seems like a great system and a great culture.”

Bruens did feel the aftershock several hours later on Friday evening. The aftershock measured in at 4.0 and, much like the morning earthquake, rattled throughout New Jersey.

“In the hotel, we had felt the after shock and it shook the room,” Bruens said.
