Ohio State basketball adds graduate transfer to its 2024 roster

The Bucks roster for the ‘24-25 season is now complete

Ohio State men’s basketball had one open roster spot as the season continues to get closer, but it looks like that has been filled.

According to his Instagram account, Samford guard [autotag]Ques Glover[/autotag] will join the Buckeyes this winter. The 6-foot, 185-pounder has had a solid collegiate career, starting at Florida before moving to the Bulldogs.

Glover made yet another move to Kansas State, but an injury this past season prevented him from playing for the Wildcats. He re-entered the portal and now will suit up for Ohio State this season.

Over the course of his career, Glover has averaged 10.3 points-per-game, 2.0 assists, and 1.7 rebounds. His last season with Samford saw him shoot 37.8% from beyond the arc.

The addition of Glover gives the Buckeyes depth and experience at the guard position. It is shaping up to be a big season for first-year head coach Jake Diebler.

These are the players departing the Florida Gators mens’ basketball team

The Gators are losing a number of players after a difficult season, headlined by Tre Mann and including four who filed to transfer.

In light of all they had to face in the 2020-21 season, it’s tough not to think of the Gators as a success after managing a not-too-shabby 15-10 record and getting to the second round of both the SEC and NCAA tournaments. However, despite their accomplishments, the program is witnessing something of a mass exodus of talent, extending to both the players and the coaching staff.

Because of the unusually large number of players departing for other teams, let’s take a look at each. Of course, there could be more bad news for the team coming down the pipe, but so far only these players have declared their intent to find new homes. Additionally, those who have entered the transfer portal could remove their names from the market and return to Gainesville if they have a change of heart.

Florida basketball’s sophomore guard Ques Glover enters transfer portal

The Florida Gators are losing another guard from their roster as Ques Glover announced he’s entering the transfer portal on Thursday.

Just yesterday the Florida Gators basketball program lost their first player from the 2020-21 roster as talented guard Tre Mann announced he was heading to the NBA. Now, they have lost another player but this time it’s to the transfer portal.

Sophomore guard Ques Glover has officially entered the transfer portal following his second season in Gainesville:

Glove committed to Florida as a three-star prospect back in April of 2019 as a part of Mike White’s impressive class that featured Mann, Scottie Lewis, Omar Payne, and Jason Jitoboh.

In his two years at Florida, Glover never really found his groove. He averaged just 2.5 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game this season while playing 8.4 minutes. As a freshman, Glover averaged 12.1 minutes per game and shot 43.2 percent from the field while averaging 4.4 points.  He fell behind Mann and Tyree Appleby this season, limiting his time in the rotation.

Florida could look at the transfer portal to fill some needs on their roster as it will be one that needs to be retooled a bit this offseason. That will be White’s biggest challenge as he looks to take the next step with the program.

Bearden’s Ques Glover scores 10 points as Gators topple Vols

Bearden grad scores 10 points as Gators defeat Vols in Gainesville.

Tennessee’s men’s basketball team was routed by Florida, 75-49, in a Southeastern Conference tilt in Gainesville Tuesday night.

A former Knoxville area high school star had his best game of the 2020-21 season for the Gators.

Gators’ sophomore guard Ques Glover scored a season-high 10 points.

Glover, who hails from Knoxville, played his high school basketball at Bearden. With the Bulldogs, Glover was a 4-year starter.

Along with current Tennessee sophomore center Drew Pember, Glover helped Bearden win the 2019 TSSAA Class AAA state championship. The Bulldogs are still the defending state champions as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the Division I boys state tournament to be canceled.

Glover was the state tournament’s most valuable player as he scored 24 points in the championship game against Memphis East, which featured Golden State Warriors’ rookie James Wiseman.

As a freshman in Gainesville, Glover appeared in 31 games and averaged 4.4 points per game. He scored in double figures four times last season.

He has appeared in 10 games this season for Florida.

Vols to face former Bearden star Ques Glover

Vols to face former Bearden star Ques Glover Tuesday.

When the University of Tennessee men’s basketball team travels to Florida for a Southeastern Conference basketball game, it will face a former Knoxville area high school star.

Ques Glover, a sophomore for the Gators, was a point guard for Bearden High School during his prep days.

In Knoxville with the Bulldogs, Glover teamed with current Vol Drew Pember to lead Bearden to a 2019 TSSAA Class AAA state championship. The Bulldogs notched a comeback victory over Memphis East, a team which featured Golden State rookie James Wiseman.

Glover has played in nine games for Florida and is averaging 2.2 points, 0.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists this season.

Last year for the Gators, Glover was the 2019 state tournament’s Most Valuable Player. He appeared in 31 games for the Gators, averaging 4.4 points per game and posted double figures in the scoring column four times.

Here’s how the Gators can take down Mississippi State on the road

Florida is looking to turn their win over Ole Miss into a winning streak in their Satrday afternoon romp with Mississippi State.

Florida, fresh off a much needed victory over the Ole Miss Rebels, tip off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon. The Gators will be playing on the Bulldogs’ home court, but thus far, playing host has been far less advantageous than in years past without crowds able to fill stadiums with their cheers and boos.

The Mississippi State offense will be a much tougher obstacle to overcome than the mediocre effort mustered by the Rebels. The Bulldogs have a deadly one-two scoring punch in the form of guards Iverson Molinar and DJ Stewart Jr., each of whom are playing over 30 minutes per game and are outscoring every player on the Gators roster on a points-per-game basis. It would also be foolish to overlook forward Tolu Smith, who is a rebounding machine and had big scoring performances against Mizzou and Vanderbilt.

This game figures to be a good one – the ESPN Basketball Power Index gives the two teams a nearly even shot at victory – so what do the Gators need to do to pull off a win? Let’s take a look at three possibilities.
