UFC 304 Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay: Leon Edwards, Tom Aspinall lead with $42,000

Leon Edwards and Tom Aspinall fetched maximum $42,000 payouts under the Promotional Guidelines Compliance for entering UFC 304 with belts.

MANCHESTER, England – Fighters from Saturday’s UFC 304 event took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $307,500.

The program, a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations and other items under the fighter code of conduct, replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.

UFC 304 took place at Co-op Live. The main card aired on pay-per-view following prelims on ESPN and ESPN+.

Under the UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance program’s payout tiers, which appropriate the money generated by Venum’s multi-year sponsorship with the UFC, fighters are paid based on their total number of UFC bouts, as well as Zuffa-era WEC fights (January 2007 and later) and Zuffa-era Strikeforce bouts (April 2011 and later). Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $4,000 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,500; 6-10 bouts get $6,000; 11-15 bouts earn $11,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $16,000; and 21 bouts and more get $21,000. Additionally, champions earn $42,000 while title challengers get $32,000.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-30 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

UFC 304 adds Oban Elliott vs. Preston Parsons

At UFC 304, welterweights Oban Elliot and Preston Parsons will collide in a three-round bout.

UFC 304 has added a welterweight bout to its undercard.

Wales’ [autotag]Oban Elliott[/autotag] and Florida’s [autotag]Preston Parsons[/autotag] will collide July 27 at Co-op Live in Manchester, England. The event is headlined by a welterweight title bout between champion Leon Edwards and challenger Belal Muhammad.

A person with knowledge of the matchup recently informed MMA Junkie of the booking but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement. Elliott posted a video to Instagram of himself signing the contract. MMA Orbit first reported the matchup.

Elliott (10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made his promotional debut at UFC 298 in February when he defeated Val Woodburn by unanimous decision. The victory came after a contract-earning performance vs. Kaik Brito on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Parsons (11-4 MMA, 2-2 UFC) has alternated losses and wins across four fights. He most recently competed in January when he defeated Matthew Semelsberger by unanimous decision.

First UFC event of 2024 hit with multiple changes

The UFC’s 2024 campaign will soon kick off – and the first card of the year has experienced a makeover.

The first UFC event of 2024 has been hit with multiple lineup changes.

UFC Fight Night 234 takes place Jan. 13 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and streams on ESPN+. The lineup currently sits at 13 fights.

Over the past three days, however, that number has fluctuated with three withdrawals and two additions, as follows:

Matchup Roundup: New UFC and Bellator fights announced in the past week (Oct. 2-8)

MMA fight announcements are hard to follow. With so many outlets and channels available, it’s nearly impossible to organize.

Here are the fight announcements that were broken or confirmed by MMA Junkie or officially announced by the promotions from Oct. 2-8.

UFC on ESPN 43 medical suspensions: Cory Sandhagen faces more time off than Marlon Vera

Four fighters were given 180-day medical suspensions by the Texas commission after UFC on ESPN 43 in San Antonio.

Four fighters face 180-day medical suspensions as a result of UFC on ESPN 43 bouts, but headliners [autotag]Cory Sandhagen[/autotag] and [autotag]Marlon Vera[/autotag] are not among them.

UFC on ESPN 43 took place this past Saturday at AT&T Center in San Antonio. The event was overseen by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which suspended all 20 fighters for medical reasons after their bouts, according to a list published Wednesday by the commission.

CJ Vergara, Daniel Pineda and Lucas Alexander all won their bouts, but walked away with 180-day suspensions, as did Steven Peterson, who lost his retirement bout to Alexander.

It’s important to note fighters can return sooner than the expiration date of their medical suspension should they receive proper medical clearance from a doctor. In addition, the TDLR does not list reasons for medical suspensions – just durations.
