DK Metcalf, K.J. Wright kick off series of Seahawks interviews

Metcalf and Wright were two of five Seahawks players who conducted exclusive video interviews with Q13 FOX about the upcoming season.

A five-part series of exclusive interviews with Seattle Seahawks players on Q13 FOX kicked off Monday featuring one of the Seahawks’ brightest young talents in DK Metcalf, followed by a session with seasoned linebacker K.J. Wright on Tuesday.

Metcalf, a standout wide receiver entering his second year in the NFL, smiled brightly throughout his entire interview as he spoke about his positive outlook on the season ahead.

“I’ve been working since February, March, so I’m just anxious to get back out on the field,” he said. “Hopeful that we start the season, hopeful that we finish it.”

This season, he explained, he hopes to expand his role as a receiver, allowing the Seahawks to use him in a larger variety of in-game situations. To that end, he spent an entire week with quarterback Russell Wilson over the offseason, one-on-one, drawing comparisons to last year’s “Seahawks Summer Camp”.

“This time was a little different,” acknowledged Metcalf. “We connected on a personal level. I look at him as a big brother – our bond is growing stronger every day.”

Wright has his own goals for the 2020 season – namely, on improving the defense as a unit.

“That’s definitely not good enough,” he said of their 2019 performance, in which the defense ranked 22nd in the league. “We have the talent, we have the chemistry, and we can’t allow the offense to bail us out in games. That’s unacceptable, and it will be better.”

Any doubt or negativity on that front, he stated, only fuels his drive to succeed. “Please keep it coming,” he said. “I love it, I truly appreciate it, I can’t get enough of it.

“I see it,” he finished, “and I just shut it up.”

Q13’s Seahawks interviews will continue with Tyler Lockett on Wednesday, Bruce Irvin on Thursday, and Greg Olsen on Monday, Aug. 10.
