Auburn lands commit from hometown prospect Powell Gordon

Three-star linebacker Powell Gordon from Auburn High School has committed to the Tigers.

Auburn didn’t have to go far to land its latest football commit.

Powell Gordon, an outside linebacker at Auburn High, announced his commitment to the Tigers via Twitter on Thursday.

Auburn offered Gordon a scholarship just seven days ago and he wasted no time jumping on board.

“I grew up an Auburn fan, it was my dream school, and I just grew up loving Auburn,” Gordon told Rivals.com.

If he signs with Auburn, Gordon will be the first player from Auburn High to do so since John Sullen in 2009.

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Gordon is a three-star prospect and ranked No. 37 nationally at his position, per 247Sports. He has not yet received a composite rating, but he’s been getting plenty of attention lately, receiving 12 offers in a span of 16 days and was recently given his three-star rating,

His commitment gives Auburn three commits for 2022, which is led by three-star quarterback Harold Geriner and another local product in three-star Opelika cornerback Jarrell Stinson.
