Post Malone’ Hootie and the Blowfish cover for Pokemon anniversary includes Dallas Cowboys tweak to the lyrics

Which NFL team makes him cry? The Cowboys!

Well, that is a headline or a sentence I never could have seen myself writing.

But there it is! Post Malone covered Hootie and the Blowfish’s Only Wanna Be with You, a 1990s classic that also had one of the all-time most sports-filled videos: a SportsCenter intro, Alonzo Mourning, Dan Marino and Fred Couples. He performed the song for the Pokemon 25th anniversary.

But there’s one big change in his version. In the original, it’s the Dolphins who make Darius Rucker and Co. cry. For Post Malone, it’s the Cowboys who make him cry.

This, of course, makes lots of sense. He’s a Dallas Cowboys fan! His lyrics have included shoutouts to Tony Romo and Dak Prescott.

After last season, I’m sure the Cowboys made the singer cry.

News: Cowboys scout Ravens live, Post Malone flaunts ‘#1 Fan’ bling

Also, Dez Bryant’s imminent return to Dallas, which free agents are worth re-signing, and breaking down Randy Gregory’s techniques.

A surreal week in Dallas has hit the halfway mark. The Cowboys took advantage of the unusual opportunity to watch their next opponent play live, with more practices to go in which to adjust to what they saw. That comes as the team prepares to say its final farewell to a beloved member of the coaching staff, and as a fan favorite prepares to come back to town wearing enemy colors. Strange times, indeed.

But some are already looking ahead to next season, either forecasting the status of one of the team’s supposed strengths, making a case for which free agents are worth re-signing, or trying to speak into existence who the club should select with their first-round draft pick. There’s tape to break down on how Randy Gregory has come so far so fast in his football comeback, and words of wisdom from Dak Prescott to NFL rookies as he deals with a season cut short. There’s a mini-history lesson on Wednesday football, a TV ratings win for America’s Team, and a bit of celebrity news as a rap star puts his Cowboys fandom on full display with a pricey pendant. Here’s the News and Notes.

Why did Post Malone get tattoos of Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce autographs?

Rapper Post Malone wound up with autograph tattoos of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce after losing at beer pong.

Post Malone has the same initials as Patrick Mahomes. The rapper also has the autograph of the Chiefs’ quarterback and tight end Travis Kelce’s tattooed on himself because of losing a bet at beer pong.

Mahomes is the subject of a GQ cover story and he explained how all transpired at a show in KC the night of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade:

The rapper invited the quarterback to swing by for a quick hello before the show. The courteous Mahomes brought along a jersey “as a thank-you for having us out.” As Mahomes and his teammate Travis Kelce sized up the scene backstage, Post challenged the two to a friendly game of beer pong. …

After nine or ten games, Post is interrupted by his manager. It’s time, he’s told, to take the stage. But Post waves him off. He needs to win a game. Finally, around the 14th or 15th game, Post decides he needs to up the stakes. He hands a piece of paper to Mahomes and Kelce, and he asks them to write their signatures, and he promises to tattoo the autographs onto his body—you know, like, permanently—if they can beat him again. Dilly dilly!

Surely you know how this ends: Post loses. “He has a tattoo artist literally in the room,” recalls Mahomes, who sounds alarmed even in retrospect. “I’m like, ‘Dude, you do not actually have to get a tattoo of our autographs.’ ” And certainly, by now, you know this too: Post Malone is a man of his word, and gets his new tattoo done backstage, immediately after the show, inking onto himself a squiggly Patrick Mahomes autograph …

Patrick Mahomes’ electric entrance at a Post Malone concert after parade is too good

Patrick Mahomes had a lot of fun at the Post Malone concert.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs had one heck of a Wednesday as their championship parade through the streets of Kansas City seemed like a pretty fun party.

It just so happened that Post Malone was having a concert in K.C. later that night, too, which Mahomes, Travis Kelce and some others took in, because you just have to take advantage of perfect timing.

The group had a VIP section right in the middle of the crowd at the jam-packed Sprint Center and the fans absolutely loved seeing them make their entrance.

Mahomes loved it, too, as he took it all in and had some fun. This is pretty great:

Things only got better from there as the roof almost came off during the song “Congratulations”:

Yup, pretty epic Wednesday in Kansas City.
