Duke punter Porter Wilson invited to an NFL team’s rookie minicamp

Duke punter Porter Wilson, a First Team All-ACC member in 2023, got an invite to an NFL team’s rookie minicamp for the upcoming season.

Duke punter Porter Wilson will get at least one shot at the NFL.

The Green Bay Packers invited Wilson to the team’s rookie minicamp, meaning he’s at least under consideration for a roster spot on the team.

Wilson led the conference with an average of 46.65 yards per punt last season, the ninth-highest mark in the country. His 57.3-yard average against Florida State this past season set a single-game program record. He finished as a First Team All-ACC selection, and USA TODAY Sports placed him on its Second Team All-American squad.

The former Blue Devil finished as a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award (given to the nation’s best punter) in both 2020 and 2023, and he spent four seasons with the Duke program.

Should Wilson make the Green Bay team, he’d join former teammate and fifth-round pick Jacob Monk on the roster.

Duke punter Porter Wilson invited to the NFL combine

Duke punter Porter Wilson led the ACC with 46.7 yards per punt last year, and now he’ll get to showcase himself to NFL teams.

A fourth Duke Blue Devil accepted his NFL Combine invite on Tuesday when the team announced punter Porter Wilson would participate in the showcase.

Wilson, a 6-foot-5 graduate student from Ohio, led the ACC with an average of 46.7 yards per punt last season. He averaged at least 50 yards in three separate games in 2023, including the season-opening upset of Clemson and the road game against eventual conference champion Florida State.

The Duke punter was named to the USA TODAY Sports All-American Second Team for the 2023 season, and he was a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award as the nation’s top punter.

He punted the ball 214 times across his four-year Blue Devils career, pinning 79 of them inside the 20 and averaging 44.4 yards per boot across his time in Durham.

Wilson joins teammates Graham Barton, DeWayne Carter, and Jacob Monk on the list of combine invites. The exhibition will take place from February 29 to March 3.
