POLL: Should the Broncos bring back Demaryius Thomas?

Demaryius Thomas is open to finishing his career with the Broncos.

During an interview with Zach Bye and Brandon Stokley on 104.3 The Fan on Wednesday, free agent wide receiver Demaryius Thomas made it clear that he would be open to returning to Denver and finishing his career with the Broncos.

“It would be amazing [to return],” Thomas said, according to The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala. “Like I said, I was talking to Courtland [Sutton] about it the other day and I was telling him, ‘I’m not coming to try to be the No. 1 or whatever. I ain’t trying to be that.

“I’m just trying to be a part of something I can help win. I ain’t trying to be no big shot. I want to be a part of something that I can help win because I know I can still play ball. I still got good ball in me. It would be great. I would finish there if I came back. I wouldn’t go nowhere else.”

Given that he’s already made plenty of money in his career, Thomas would presumably be open to returning for close to the league minimum. He is just 237 yards away from 10,000 career receiving yards, something he hopes to achieve before hanging up his cleats.

POLL: Was trading for Jurrell Casey a good move for Broncos?

Was trading a seventh-round pick to the Titans for Jurrell Casey a good move for the Broncos?

The Denver Broncos agreed to trade a seventh-round draft pick to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for defensive lineman Jurrell Casey on Wednesday. The trade will not become official until the new league year begins on Wednesday afternoon.

Casey (6-1, 305 pounds) is a 30-year-old defender who spent the first nine years of his career in Tennessee. A five-time Pro Bowler, Casey totaled 493 tackles and 51 sacks during his time with the Titans. He also broke up 12 passes and forced eight fumbles.

Casey has three years left on his contract and will have a salary cap hit of $11,787,500 this season, according to Spotrac.com. Tennessee is responsible for the guarantees in Casey’s contract so Denver could cut him between now and 2022 and be left with zero dead money.

Broncos general manager John Elway managed to land one of the top defensive linemen in the league in exchange for a late-round pick and Twitter seems to think Denver easily won the trade. We want to know your thoughts — was it a good move for Denver? Vote in the poll below!

POLL: Was signing Jeff Driskel a good move for Broncos?

Did the Broncos make a good decision to sign Jeff Driskel as their new backup quarterback?

The Denver Broncos made a change to their quarterback room this week, bringing in Jeff Driskel to serve as the new backup quarterback. With Driskel now backing up Drew Lock, Denver is expected to trade or release veteran Joe Flacco later this week.

Driskel is a 26-year-old quarterback with four years of experience in the NFL. Terms of his contract with the Broncos are not yet known but he will undoubtedly be much cheaper than Flacco’s $23.65 million cap hit in 2020.

Driskel started five games for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2018 and three games for the Detroit Lions in 2019. He has a 1-7 win-loss record in the NFL. With the Bengals, Driskel completed 59.7 percent of his passes 1,003 for six touchdown passes against two interceptions.

With the Lions, Driskel completed 59 percent of his passes for 685 yards with four touchdowns against four interceptions. He has also rushed 47 times for 281 yards and three touchdowns in the NFL.

POLL: Who wins Super Bowl LIV?

The 49ers and Chiefs will face off in Super Bowl LIV, which pits one of the NFL’s best defenses against one of its best offenses.

The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs will face off in Super Bowl LIV, which pits one of the NFL’s best defenses against one of its best offenses.

The 49ers were able to accomplish what the Bears weren’t — go from worst-to-first and make a deep playoff run that has led them to the Super Bowl. San Francisco has thrived off its top-ranked defense, as well as a strong ground game that has brought balance to their Jimmy Garoppolo-led offense.

Then there are the Chiefs, who fell short of the Super Bowl last year in a heartbreaking overtime loss to the Patriots. Led by superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs will face their stiffest test yet against this 49ers defense. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s to never count out Mahomes.

With that said, who wins on Sunday?

Poll: Should Matt Patricia get more time to turn it around?

Poll: Should Matt Patricia get more time to turn it around?

The Detroit Lions are now 3-7-1 after losing to the lowly Washington Redskins on Sunday. Combined with last year, the Matt Patricia coaching regime has produced a 9-17-1 record so far.

That’s not good, certainly not in the wake of predecessor Jim Caldwell being dismissed because 9-7 in consecutive seasons was not good enough for the franchise.

It leads to the inevitable question:

Should Matt Patricia get another season as the Lions head coach to prove he can turn it around?

Welcome back from a football bye weekend for the Tennessee Volunteers. It was not all quiet the past few days, as the men’s basketball team triumphed over Washington on Saturday night, keeping their record perfect at 3-0. As for other news, the women’s volleyball team has announced some signings and the Lady Vols track and field team scored their best regional finish in a decade.

Lady Vols volleyball signs three

Women’s volleyball coach Eve Rackham announced the signing of three recruits for the 2020 class on Friday.

The trio of prospects — Jasmine Brooks, Allie Holland and Kya Moore — are all top-150 players, according to PrepVolleyball.com. Coach Rackham had the following to say about the newest members of the Vols family.

“We are excited about our newest additions to the Lady Vol Volleyball family. Each of these young women are talented in their position and will add great depth to our 2020 roster. Not only are they outstanding athletes, but they are also high-level students, active in their communities and will represent our program with class. I am particularly excited about the work ethic and positivity they will bring to our culture.”

The three prospects promise to bolster the volleyball program and will very likely debut in 2020.
