Cheugy Pokemon: what does “cheugy” mean in Scarlet and Violet?

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is perhaps more ahead of its time than we thought, as it’s teaching many people brand new words.

Say what you want about Pokémon Scarlet and Violet quality-wise, but you can’t say it doesn’t have its finger on the pulse of internet culture. In fact, it might be even more ahead of the curve than most of us. This insight comes from none other than the old-school director of the game’s Naranja/Uva Academy who will ask you a question that has puzzled many the world over.

During one of your conversations in the office with him, he will ask you ‘Tell me, what does “cheugy” mean?’.

[mm-video type=video id=01gdfskshxyfwr3qfj6t playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01gdfskshxyfwr3qfj6t/01gdfskshxyfwr3qfj6t-1bcacc6d9c2e10f4b171875a84c99660.jpg]

If you’re as clueless as the director then that probably means you don’t spend much time on TikTok. Yes, really, this is a TikTok thing. Between this and the Ed Sheeran song featured in the game’s closing credits, Pokémon has become a very modern-minded franchise all of a sudden.

Our search for answers led us to the New York Times, which explains the meaning in detail. Cheugy (pronounced choog-ee) is a kind of aesthetic that describes a subset of the online world. Essentially anyone who looks uncool, old-fashioned, or a bit basic fits the definition. Exactly what fits the definition seems to be random depending on the user, as TikTok’s typically younger user base balks at aspects of culture many of us will still consider quite new and recent.

In short, if you don’t know what cheugy means, that’s probably because you’re cheugy (Is that the correct way to use it? I honestly still don’t know).

Either way, out of the options Director Clavell gives you, “being outdated and uncool” is the correct answer that will boost your friendship with the director. So you can now answer correctly and mourn whatever information was pushed out of your brain as you learned this.

The 10 funniest Pokémon Scarlet and Violet glitches so far

Let’s just say the Paldea region isn’t exactly bug-free.

It’s no secret that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are pretty darn glitchy — understatement of the century, right? Just ask anyone currently free-falling through the Paldea region.

Yes, this is arguably the roughest launch in the Pokémon franchise’s 26-year history. Trainers are zooming around on invisible scooters, clipping through walls like Kitty Pryde, and spinning around as if there’s no centrifugal force. It’s a shame Scarlet and Violet are so lacking in that polish we all expect from Nintendo, but at least the reactions on social media are hilarious.

Below, we’ve put together a list of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet‘s best bugs and glitches. Be careful not to check these out while sipping coffee – no need to paint your monitor black accidentally.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet titan order: The best way to tackle the Path of Legends

The Path of Legends has a lot of tough opponents, so we’ve pathed out an order for you to easily take them all down.

There are five titan Pokémon for your to take down in Scarlet and Violet, and you’re going to want to take them down as soon as you can. Completing each one gives you new movement options for Koraidon/Miraidon, letting you get to new places and explore the world much more efficiently. However, they’re not the easiest beasts to take down, and if you rush to do all of them straight away you’ll be outmatched almost immediately.

We’ll tell you the order in which you should tackle them for the smoothest difficulty curve. If you’re looking for a balanced experience elsewhere, you can check out our gym order guide for the Victory Road questline.

Players have a fix for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s performance issues

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet performance issues mar the experience for many, but some fans think they found a solution

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet performance issues have some wishing that the latest in the monster-catching RPG series had been delayed a bit longer, but one fan may have found a temporary fix to the games’ many woes (thanks GamesRadar). Chief among the problems is a persistent issue where the games just don’t load their assets right away, resulting in delayed pop-in and odd situations such as not recognizing a Pokemon mount, so it looks like your character is flying through the air while sitting down.

One fan, infamous Pokemon leaker CentroPokemon, believes many of these problems stem from a substantial memory leak issue. Memory leak occurs when a system fails to release data that is no longer needed and clogs up the RAM, which can no longer load new assets efficiently.

[mm-video type=video id=01gj62y6vcxje1vbv9mx playlist_id=none player_id=none image=]

CentroPokemon said if you reset your game – save, close the software, and then restart it – after entering a town, where most of these issues start happening, it temporarily fixes the problem. It will inevitably occur again, but resetting should resolve the memory leak issue again for a time.

What it likely won’t fix are the bugs causing crashes and freezes, which are also plaguing players and seem to occur more frequently when weather effects are active or when a Pokemon is evolving.

Nintendo and The Pokemon Company have yet to acknowledge Scarlet and Violet’s performance issues, so whether the development team has a patch to fix some or all of these issues remains uncertain at this point.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to evolve Dunsparce into Dudunsparce

Dudunsparce is the must-awaited evolved form of Dunsparce in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. We’ll tell you how to get it.

For generations, one Pokémon has sat in the shadows. Loved by many, but always overlooked by the Pokémon designers. When Mega-Evolutions came in generation 6, the people cried out for Mega-Dunsparce, but it never happened. Then, gen 7 brought regional forms, but yet again it was denied. Gen 8 gave another chance for redemption, but there was no Gigantamax form for Dunsparce.

Now, in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, 24 years after Dunsparce was first unleashed upon the world, it can evolve. Say hello to…Dudunsparce.

So named because of the second segment this evolution adds to its body, Dudunsparce is a Normal-type with a rather impressive amount of HP. If you want something bulky and strong, look no further.

Evolving Dunsparce is no easy feat though, so we’ll tell you where to catch this classic creature and how to unleash its true potential. If you’re looking for other Pokémon to evolve, then check out our guides on how to evolve Primeape, and how to evolve Girafarig.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet gym order: The best way to tackle Victory Road

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s gyms can be tackled in any order, but there’s a recommended path to create a good difficulty curve.

Like most other Pokémon games, Scarlet and Violet have eight gyms for you to challenge. However, there’s a difference this time, as there’s no set order you’re forced to face them. While you can technically challenge the gyms in whatever order you want, they all have set levels, rather than scaling with your team. This means that there is a recommended order for you to tackle each one, which will walk you through them all from the easiest to the hardest.

If you’re still trying to assemble your team, then check out our guides on how to evolve Primeape, or how to evolve Dunsparce, to get yourself some cool partners.
