After the Warriors cruised to a blowout win over the Pistons to start a seven-game homestand, NBA Twitter chimed in with different reactions.

After a rough end to a four-game road swing, the Golden State Warriors returned to San Francisco’s Chase Center to open a much-needed homestand with a contest against the Detroit Pistons.

Back at home, the Splash Brothers went right to work. In the first half, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 31 points with seven triples. Andrew Wiggins added 13 first-half points to give Golden State a 28 point lead heading into halftime.

With a heavy lead to open the second half, the Warriors cruised to a 102-86 victory over the struggling Pistons. Thompson led the way for Golden State, scoring a game-high 21 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field and 3-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

With a chance to enter the starting lineup, rookie Jonathan Kuminga tallied a double-double with 12 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the floor with 10 rebounds in 24 minutes.

Behind a tight defensive performance, the Warriors held 2021 No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham to eight points on 3-of-10 shooting from the field with five turnovers in 28 minutes.

After an underwhelming loss to the Suns on Thursday, the Golden State Warriors bounced back with a blowout win over the Pistons, 118-91.

After an underwhelming loss to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday, the Golden State Warriors opened a home tilt against the Detroit Pistons on Saturday.

The Warriors quickly went to work, blitzing past the Pistons 29-17 in the first quarter. The combination of Steph Curry, Kelly Oubre Jr and Andrew Wiggins paired up to outscore the entire Pistons’ lineup with 23 combine points.

As Curry, Oubre Jr. and Wiggins went on to link for 66 combined points; the Pistons had no answer for Golden State’s trio. Curry, Oubre Jr, and Wiggins each notched over 18 points, with the two-time Most Valuable Player leading the way with 28 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field, including six triples. Adding to his performance, Curry recorded seven assists, five boards and two steals in the Warriors’ 118-91 win.

After sweeping the season series over the Pistons, the Warriors will get two days off before welcoming the Boston Celtics to Chase Center on Tuesday night.

Defense

Along with their high scoring triumvirate, Golden State’s defensive unit limited Detroit to only 91 points on 37.7% shooting from the field. The Warriors didn’t allow any player to register 20 points, with only two Pistons surpassing double-figures in scoring.

The Warriors forced 14 turnovers while swiping six steals and five blocks against the Pistons.

Kelly Oubre Jr. bounces back

After scoring only four points on 1-of-11 shooting in his return to Phoenix, Kelly Oubre Jr. bounced back against the Pistons at home. The Golde State forward tallied 18 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field, including a pair of 3-pointers. Oubre Jr. added six boards, an assists and a block in 27 minutes against the Pistons.

Following an ugly start to the season on offense, the 25-year-old has now scored 14 or more points in three of his last four games.

Although it wasn’t on the court, Klay Thompson made an appearance on Saturday at Chase Center. For the third quarter against the Pistons, Thompson joined the broadcast team as a sideline reporter.

To register their third consecutive win at Chase Center, the Warriors will need to slow down Detroit’s Jerami Grant. The new Piston forward is averaging a career-high 23.8 points on 44.4% shooting from the field with 6.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.2 blocks in 36.1 minutes per game. In Golden State’s first meeting against the Pistons, Grant notched 27 points on 9-of-21 shooting from the field with five boards in 37 minutes.

Despite Grant’s impressive performance, Steph Curry and Andrew Wiggins combined for 58 points to lead the Warriors to a 116-106 win to wrap up their early-season road trip. With the Pistons coming off a victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday, the Warriors will need to count on the budding Curry and Wiggins tandem to keep pace.
